This video is a van tour along with great information about different ways to make money on the road and advice for getting started. Kathy is the host of the Solo Women RV Podcast, and I encourage you to check it out. You’ll find the interview she did with me on episode 58.
Kathy found a rare, rear-entry Class-B van that works for her and her priorities on the road and she was kind enough to let me tour it. This van features a full wet bath in the back, a small galley kitchen, a permanent bed, and a side dinette so she can have sleeping space and workspace without converting between the two.

Really appreciate the interview. Like that you let her be the focus. Nice rig and love her attitude. Start where you are and be comfortable while taking steps to learn and then live as much of the lifestyle as you want. I live in my vintage class c and am starting to work kamp to help pay for space to park and make income while saving to travel between gigs. There are tons of people doing the same. Helps financially, usually safer and meet people. I signed up for her podcast too.

Yes I agree with Nancy thank Joaniefor sharing Kathy with us. I've been solo camping for over 50 years. TENT camping that is. And of course with others too. But hubby of 50 isn't a camper and I'm amazed at the ladies who I run into that are similar with spouses or significant partners who are not campers and as a dear friend said...and who wants to drag along an Unhappy Camper on a camping trip? I ran into a retired sheriff from NM this summer who insisted he would NEVER allow his WIFE to camp by herself. I had to bite my lip to not ask what the wife's feeling about camping solo is? A lot of my gal friends aren't into that. A few have joined me on occasion and one at 78 for 17 days. So love hearing about ladies out there camping and pretty much enjoying their time alone and sharing with others too. I decided finally a year ago to buy a B or B+ van. This has been a real challenge and a huge education to date. Of course I'm looking for an older one they made them so right around 2000 give or take a few years. The lay out Kathy has is spot on what I've been searching for. So after not getting 3 Amercian Cruisers this year I moved away from them and looking at R-Vision Trail-lites 214 or 213's also a possible 252. They need to be under 22 feet which is tricky. But finding one again has been difficult. We live in a very rural area of MT and it's 100 miles to nearest airport of any size. So been concentrating in WA CO even TX and CA region of the USA. However I'm open to pretty much the entire USA. The amazing thing that's been an eye opener is the scams out there by so called fake sellers. Who knew they could be so many. Then there's the sellers who are afraid of you the buyer. I'm always thrown a curve ball on those...I'm 72, retired, will be paying cash or lets put it this way if it's not close enough cashiers check or other safe manners of moving cash. My bank's been helpful figuring out safe modes but they are protective which is sweet to know they have my back. So is my State Farm insurance company too. Maybe something to do with all of these folk being females too? Maybe they've been helpful and supportive both. Unfortunately to date I've come up empty. I'm not discouraged but have taken some time off looking and enjoyed what might be my last 11 days Tent Glamping this Sept. The great thing is when I find one I'm going to love it to bits and enjoy having a place to keep so much of my gear including solar powered batteries and power banks etc. OMGosh I got into that back in 2008. Started with deep cell batteries that could be charged via solar and I built my own light weight 100 watt solar folding panel. And when I upgraded to a Goal Zero 1400 My husband rewired my folding 2 fifty watts into parrallel system and added a 40 foot extention so I could keep batteries and mini freezer in the shade while the panels were out in full sun. I can't believe my home made solar panels are still beating commercial ones more than a decade later. I also bought two commercial portable folding ones too a 120 and a 60 because the Goal zero allows me to use both to charge at the same time or independent to charge a phone or lantern or other devices that are rechargable. Anyway it works well even in some light overcast days. What doesn't work well is when we have wild fire pollution roll in as overcast and that pretty much ends the solar charging. Oh my I look forward to seeing many of you on the road too in the days and years to come. Keep on camping ladies and gent's if it calls you then go.

So funny. I have a class b leisure travel and a 160 jackery. I also use my jump drive to charge up my phone or lights. My class b has 2 small batteries and it keeps my lights going.

This is a wonderful interview. I love camping and nature as a way of restoration as I am a therapist and it’s how I do self care. My husband and I camp at state parks now, but we use to do more rustic camping with our horses. I want to do more camping than I get in a year, but for now I dream about it through KZfaq videos. We have been taking the dog with us, but the cats have always stayed home. However, we now have only one cat and so I’m deciding on purchasing a harness and backpack to see how he does with it! I’ve not listened to many podcast, but I’ll be checking out Kathy’s. Thanks for the interview.

Thanks for the video. Cathy seems like a very interesting person. I love her van. I travel part time in my 24ft Minnie Winnie and I tow a car. My husband doesn't want to go out much so I will be traveling next year mostly alone or caravanning or meeting up with friends. I would like to be on her pod cast.

Eventually your cat will wander off. Another van dweller lost her cat and it was heartbreaking. I would encourage a gps tracker on your cat. It will save heartbreak.
