I'm really impressed with this Awesome Diesel Camper Van / Workshop Heater which outputs 5 Kw and runs on very little fuel. Great cheap winter heater. The big question is are these Camper Van Heaters any good for Workshops? This cheap Chinese diesel heater is well able to heat a small workshop and can burn Diesel or Kerosene. It comes as a kit complete with digital display, hoses, fuel pump, tank and a key fob remote control. I was very impressed with the size and output of this well built little unit. For a small shed or workshop this could be a very usable solution for making heat that can fill the space with heat and keep you warm.
Setup is easy and in my opinion an economical way to heat a cold workshop / shed.
Here's Jamie at Camper van Creations • Chinese diesel heater ...

I put one of these in my van about 2 years ago. The thing is amazing. I'm going to do a review on it soon. Your mic pics up alot of noise from the heater. And can agree it's not normally that loud. I actually hear the fuel pump over the fan. When I go to fly meets I sleep in my van and this stay on all night long on the thermostat.

GerrysDiy yeah for 100 quid it probably won’t last forever I guess, you get what you pay ...maybe one of your designs using an old gas bottle might be the better solution. I like the oil burners that you have built also....too ....need to do some thinking 😂 Great stuff though mate and always nice to chat with you buddy 😀

Had one of these in my outside office/garage for two winters now and it's great. Use the remote to turn it on half an hour before I go up and it's toasty. Might use a bit more fuel than you said, but still great for the price.

I don't know where you are from, but here in the states red fuel is commonly known as "off road diesel". It is burned in farm equipment and construction equipment. It is illegal to burn in vehicles that travel the roadways. MB BAR RANCH

Hi Robert. I had a T5 for a few years and one of these heaters going for a few minutes on a wet day in winter would have been great for clearing the windows and heating the van before heading off. Here in Ireland the rural service stations sell red agri diesel. I was using Kerosene in the demo and it worked well. Thanks for commenting Cheers Gerry

@@martinbenton742 Thanks Martin as I understand it it can be used in heaters here in the UK they have to have a seperate tank. But not in road vehicles, refigerated lorries use it to run compressor's attached to the vehicle and pto type engines. Fuel tax in the UK is ridiculous.

@@GerrysDiy I forot to say I am getting one of the heaters you showed for my shed, started telling you about my t4 and forget. Kerosene here in South Wales is dearer than white diesel, heating oil I've been told works well but you can't buy small quantities. Veggie oil is to hard to light in the heaters. Thanks for the reply and putting the video up.

Those types of heater are great, but bearing in mind there is around 13kW/hr of energy in 1 litre of diesel I think the makers claim of 5kw @ 0.2l/hr is somewhat optimistic

Great little heater for my boat for autumn and fall, instead of using the big central heating boiler on my boat, would be even better if it could run on waste oil, as I'm on a terribly low budget, my retirement punishment. Atb, Peter.

@@GerrysDiy I look forward to the smaller waste oil heater. I have a single garage to heat, and a propane canister sized unit is a bit overkill. Was considering trying to make something out of a mini mig disposable gas bottle instead. Might live outside for safety, with an open vented water system circulating to a radiator inside.

Webasto and Ebespacher are the only safe bets when it comes to heater safety and after-sales service .I work on cruisers (boats) and these units under the by law would not be allowed for safety reasons and to finally finish when these chineese units break down and they will You bin them,But thats if they dont do serious damage before they shag up.Sorry for the spoiler but you cant expect a 150 pound unit to match a unit costing 15 times more and 20 times for the Webasto units.

I have one of these in my workshop, it will use much more fuel than you say, on full heat mine uses more like 3/4 of a litre a hour . These also suffer from clogging up if used with red diesel if run below full heat for any amount of time . No where near the quality of a eberspácher , but also no where near the price either !

Check the duty cycle on your unit. The Chinese have put new much much cheaper units on the market with which I am not familiar. The style however is the same as the Espar etc. we used in boats and trucks. The Chinese also make gasoline heaters of the same style. The Espar and like kinds were several thousand dollars and designed for a 600 hour life. Something that was useless for real heating and or costly. Toyotomo made one that was of that size that was about 2 thousand dollars and vastly superior. If the Chinese are at all good they would be a great deal. Careful about who you order from though they can cheat you and often do. These style of heaters have been used in sleeper trucks, campers, boats etc for forty years that I know of although I had never seen a gasoline version until the Chinese came out with one. I would be interested to see how it actually performs. The biggest thing is the yearly clean out of the unit as recommended. Good video topic. You can find several reviews on You Tube. Take care. karaseen is far from cheap any more, you use to be able to buy it by the gallon, out od a pump at a gas stasion for $0.80 cnd per LT. or years now you can only by it in hardware stores by the LT. for $6 cnd. BY THE gallon for $18, or 20 Lt jug for $72 cnd. these prices jumped some years ago with the portable karaseen heaters that came on the market, they were not that potable as the were like a meter long. 60cm high and 30cm wide and about 15kg, they have faded out in the past 3 years but the price of karaseen has not come down, in fact it still going up, why the heater have fadded out, was due to the cash brab of the fuel they use. even tho they would run 12 to 16 hours on 4 Lt
