I expected a Chinese brand, but it's actually from Augsburg, Germany! As a German, I have actually never heard of it. I really like that you can see the care that the developers put into it. It seems really well configured and I like that they list all the technical details on their site. The pricing is actually pretty good as well. Not looking for a notebook right now, but definitely gonna consider them next time I am looking for one.

It is not really german. It's from TONGFENG Computers. They just rebrand it, just like Schnenker or XMG, this is why it looks exacly like the schenker vision 14 Edit: It's TONGFANG, not TONGFENG

@@markusstaden Hi, this is Chris from TUXEDO Computers. Well it is actually kind of german :-) You are right on the hardware, but the InfinityBook Pro 14 as Linux laptop is much about the software. Drivers, kernel adjustments, software like the Control Center for fan control, CPU performance or further system tuning is done by our developers in Augsburg, Germany. This involves very time-consuming reverse-engineering and much testing to discover technical functions to make them run with Ubuntu Linux, because the hardware comes only with Windows drivers. Additional services like our fully automated installation and driver configuration service or our Linux experienced customer support are also based in Augsburg. Speaking of "They just rebrand it": Keyboard lasering and chassis logo printing is done inhouse. Therefore we also offer chassis customization for individual logo printing or custom keyboard lasering. Many regards, Chris | TUXEDO Computers

It uses PRIME approach on Linux, so it's either Intel only or Nvidia only. Despite the logout requirement, it does help giving the best of both extremes. Intel only means you have the longest battery life, Nvidia only means you have the best performance. Having both active (and you select which app runs on which card) is possible, but then you lose above advantages for the no need to logout to switch card.

Great review Chris and this laptop looks very promising. I like the fact that despite being such a slim and light device, it still has user upgradable memory for both slots. This looks like a mix of Lenovo IdeaPad slim 7 Pro outside and new Asus VivoBook 14x inside, especially the cooling solution. Wish they have an AMD Option. VivoBook 14/14x weights a bit more but packing a 5800H/5900HX and a 50W 3050 ti and still offering superb thermals.

This is what I really love about this channel, a review on a device from a brand I haven't heard about before but has seriously peaked my interest. This notebook ticks alot of boxes for me since most of my screen time is professional use but I enjoy some light gaming aswell. I've been away from Linux for a few years since my dedicated Thinkpad Linux machine went to the big computer store in the sky but would really like to have a specialised unit like this. Tuxedo may well be the replacement to my Xiaomi notebook pro when its time to retire it. Thank you for this review.

This dual boot laptop seems promising to me although I have never used any Linux distro. If I were to own this, definitely I would do PC gaming, photo & video editing on Windows side as well as productivity, streaming & old school emulation on Linux side. Give me a Full HD resolution laptop screen anytime over 3K / 4K screen for the sake of longer battery life & definitely this would be a performance champ.

Hopefully, you can get a configuration with Linux and Windows on *separate* drives. Dual-booting on a single drive is a recipe for disaster. I don't even like them being on separate drives but still sharing a boot partition. That's how paranoid I am paranoid about updates/changes in one ruining the other OS.
@Techtablets
@Techtablets 2 жыл бұрын
You can do that as it supports two drives this one is both on the single drive so yes updates could affect the boot setup and then you would have to set it up gain for one OS.

Good review again. ASUS has a new 2-in-1 tablet (Surface Pro competitor) coming out next month called "Slate". $600 and it includes the pen and the keyboard and has an excellent OLED screen. Also a Pentium N6000 chipset though, which could be the weakest part.

Thanks Chris. Very tempting future replacement. I've been an HP Elitebook user for over 10 years and all the laptops I cater for friends and family are Elitebooks as well because they're sturdy, reliable and easy to upgrade or repair. However, I'm getting sick of HP equipping these expensive laptops with mainly subpar displays (250 nits/cdm2, 65% srgb) and not even caring to indicate which models do have a decent 400 nits/95% srgb screen. So this Tuxedo brand looks promising as a future remplacement. For several reasons Build to military standard, upgradable components and 2 ssd slots (HP dismissed those after Elitebook G4 and Probook G7),350- 400 nits with 95% srgb coverage and 3K option. Plus dual OS setup if desired.

@Tomatoe182 2 жыл бұрын
"and there are flavours for everyone" That's probably one of the main problems, when choice is involved people don't want to know, it involves said person investing time and energy into trying this distro and that distro or researching in depth why there are so many different flavours, they just stick with the path laid out for them, that is Windows... Well, that and the massive association Linux has with geeky shell script lovers and 'everyday' users feeling scared off of that in favour for the Windows usage of UI wizards + mouse...
@neurobioboy
@neurobioboy 2 жыл бұрын
@@Tomatoe182 I disagree. If you are a beginner in Linux, with a graphic card: PopOS. No graphic card: mint. Especially if you are a beginner it is easy to choose. The more difficult is when you are an intermediate user. Then sooooo many choices (and it is awesome !). And how can having some choice be a bad thing? Would you say the same to someone who knows nothing about cars? Too much choice better use the bus/train?
@Tomatoe182
@Tomatoe182 2 жыл бұрын
@@neurobioboy Hey, no I mostly agree with you, I'm someone who loves flashing different Android ROMs on my phone, love the choice and all that... I'm just saying, I'm not 'most people' most like the path well defined and laid out in front of them, hence why it's been such a 2 horse race, that is, Apple's OS or Windows for the majority..
@neurobioboy
@neurobioboy 2 жыл бұрын
@@Tomatoe182 I get your point, and many people would agree with you. Yet I am not convinced that this is why people do not do it. Look, chromos is now a player, and many people changed to it. I think the fact that your device came with an os, and not having the choice when you buy a computer to say « I do not want windows I want Manjaro (or anything else) » is a big issue. People are either lazy or not interested enough to do the change (And if you are not interested in computers it is a fair thing). But many many people complain about windows, max (far less) of chromos(most of the people I know who have it do not like it). Having the choice when you buy the device would be awesome and fair. Because you are forced to pay for an is you did not choose with windows. It is by default. This is not acceptable! But same for android and iOS. How many people know there are alter?

@@YounesLayachi Again, when you purchase from the company with Windows and Linux installed it is dual boot. Not every company offers this service. Some may also offer a virtual machine config. You raise a valid point that once you get it you can do what you want with it but this is a moot point if you specifically order and receive a dual boot configured device. If you got this device configured as such and decided to only have one 1 OS installed then obviously its not dual boot anymore.
