Interesting little meter here that you can pick up online for less than $80 shipped! And so far everything looks legit and it compares nicely to the Keithley 2000 which is a calibrated 6.5digit bench top meter. This one is the Fluke 15B+, but looks like there's a 12 and 17 series out there as well... not sure what the differences are - bought this one on an impulse one late night :) Package showed up 2 weeks later and here it is! loving it so far, but we'll see how everything holds up a year from now - I can be pretty rough on my meters.

I got the 17b after seeing EEVlog's teardown. I love it! Only thing I wish it had was backlit LCD.

AVE's must have boosted sales for imported flukes after his youtube video I did the same after watching his review and headed over to a popular auction site and purchased the 17B+ for £80, took ages to arrive but am really impressed with it.

Do you think when you "get in the mud" with micro amp test the minor loss could be in the jumper you were using? I have a 15B+ and love it. Never use it for that fine a measurement. Nice video. Thx.

awesome review boss.. i have a problem..my 15b+ unable to zeros on vdc and it stuck on 24vdc drop to 15vdc if backlight switch on..what should i do?

I just bought a 15B+ from Amazon. No complaints, just hope the switch lasts longer than my cheaper Commercial Electric meter, that I've had 3 years. No more cheap meters for me. This meter is more suitable (calibrated)for low voltage electronics use,not usually what an electrician would use. Compared to my other meter, voltage and resistance measurements were similar, but capacitance measurements were much more accurate. This was quicker to compute values, and the values don't "jump around " like lesser quality meters. Just what you'd expect from a Fluke. I like it.

You can't use it for pwm measurments because is not true RMS meter.But is good for standard measurments.

Opps... TLDR... Good simple basic test. Have a peek at Dave Jone's EEVblog channel. He has looked at the cheaper Fluke meters and compared them to others. After seeing those vids I bought a Fluke 15B and later a 17B as well as recently a Bryman BM235 that Dave sells.

I've bought my Fluke 18b+ almost a year ago and I have to tell you guys, it is awesome. It is a rugged, stable and accurate meter. The only thing that annoys me is the short power off time that wouldn't change even if you push buttons or turn the rotatory switch.

just hold the yellow button while turning the device ON...The auto power off will get disabled

Nice one! That performed really well. I've used a Fluke 116 DMM for my everyday for years, and it's been very reliable. I wonder how the Chinese Flukes hold up? Looks pretty good though.

Hey....Turn the device into milliVolt mode and see if the reading stays still....Mine keeps going negative when the probes are not touching anthing....but when probes are shorted, it shows zero...Are you seeing the same problem ?

When you take a meter apart what you are looking for is input protection, HRC fuses, Isolation slots, and other evidence that it won't explode if you hook it up to 600 volts.

No, it's not. The lowest TrueRMS Fluke model that I can think of would be.. 114, but that's an electrician's DMM.

turn the knob to milli Volts DC and the zero reading keeps going to negative after going from positive without the probes touching anything..have you experienced the same thing ?

@@aneeshprasobhan That's normal (?) These kind of meters are sensitive enough to pick up small electrical noises (e.g. from the mains), which is what the probes pick up when they are not connected to anything. That's why when u short the probes together the reading instantly goes to 0

Hey...I bought it....But the millivolts DC kdoesnt have zero reading untill I touch the probes together :(

That's normal, it's picking up electrical noise from the environment around you which you short to 0 when you touch the probes together.

These are awesome if your using it for small stuff. I’m not sure I would trust my life to this thing. There has to be a reason they are so cheap? Right? I have the 15B+ but I’ve never used it on anything over 120vac. Just be careful people. Safety/Testing equipment isn’t an area you should skimp on. ⚡️

I've seen Joe Smith test the 17B+ using some high voltage transients and seems like Fluke didn't skimp on these Chinese made meters one bit.

So what this means is that Fluke can build a great product for for a lesser price, but in turn decides to sell it to another country for a great price but decides to sell it to it's US customers under a different model # and charge us twice as much!!! Makes me want to buy their products.... NOT!!!!

They are actually official Fluke products, the difference is that they are made in china. At least here in the EU they have decent warranty. I advise you to look at the resistors and fuses inside this thing, you can stick it up to high voltage and high current crap as you would with any Fluke. That's what most cheapo multimeters fail at.

I wonder why Fluke uses such terrible old lcd displays. Transflective lcds are not even new technology, they seem to use traditional lcds though with terrible contrast.
