On these budget panels, the orange diffuser is usually used when you're under incandescent. Since the light panel itself changes color temp though, I'm kind of puzzled as to why they included it.
@mr.frandy7692

Well the brightest settings is full power on both daylight and tungsten. Which means it ends up probably around 4200K. So if you wanted a more tungsten look but maintain some extra brightness, I supposed you would use the orange diffuser. But that being said the diffuser would reduce the output, so I'm not sure how much extra lux you'd be gaining.

Awesome review! dig the results, try flipping it around to bounce light back off your "white?" wall to soften it even more since you got the power, use the barn doors to control spill and conserve power. These would be great with 2 compact light stands so you can set up quickly anywhere. 3 of these would be perfect, could use the Air for a nice hair light ;) I think you'll be able to control multiple lights with it, since you have the channels. That may just represent the amount of bluetooth devices connected. I think I may pick up a few YN300 III's. Awesome review once again :)

Hi! Couple of things. 1. They come in two versions, right? One with temp control and one that's just 5500K and uses all 300 LED's at once? I just ordered a III that doesn't seem to have temp control, and, quite honestly, it's the way I like it. I find that the ones that control temp tend to err on the side of magenta. 2. What camera are you using? I don't love using 60p (or 50p here in PAL land) myself but I love the look of that cam. 3. The point of the orange filter is if you're shooting under harsh fluorescent lights and you want to warm up skin tones a bit. Obviously it needs to be used correctly and white balanced/exposed properly, but it can be useful in that situation.
@JordanKeyes
@JordanKeyes 8 жыл бұрын
Yes, there are 2 versions. I've got another video in the same playlist with this video about the 5500k only light. The cameras I used were the Panasonic G7 with a 20mm f/1.7 lens, and a Sony AX33 for the overhead cam. Thanks for the info about the orange filter.

Shame you didn't show if you can set both temps at particular levels at the same time
@JordanKeyes
@JordanKeyes 4 жыл бұрын
I just rewatched, and you're absolutely right. I just showed setting one temp, then the other. There's not a way to set both temps at the same time, but if you click the color temp button, you can control one temp at a time, then click it again to control the other, so they're independent. (for example, you could do 50% one color, 80% the other, and have both sets of LEDs lit up at the same time)

I'm looking to shoot handheld on an OMD EM1 MkII , and given the smaller sensor I wanted to have an LED to take with me to help out in those lower light situations where noise starts to creep in at the higher ISOs. Would the Air be too weak? I like how slim it is. Thanks!

Actually in your video about the Air version you indicated that the lumen output is almost the same on both YN 300 versions. I am guessing that is not correct given how this video shows the difference is quite huge.. I am guessing the air is more for a desktop light for close interviews or a fill light of some sort.. AND YES what is the name of that clock you have ??

thanks for that review. i have some 100+ LED panels, 4 years old which i want to exchange with newer ones. that 300LED panels + barn doors and remote/app controlling seem to be a nice replacement. i want to buy 4 of these for mobile filming. but i have a question: is it better or worse to have reflecting barn doors? the pros seem to use black barndoors for forming the light.
@JordanKeyes
@JordanKeyes 8 жыл бұрын
I think it depends on the way you want the light to look. Worst case with these, if you wanted it to be black, you could always put electrical tape on them or spraypaint them.

Does anyone here use the YN300 IIIs, 300 Airs, or 600Ls with either a diffuser, or bounced? I am wondering if the same kind of brightness that Jordan has in his video here can be achieved by, say, using two 600Ls, or four 300 Airs bounced, rather than used as direct light.

This is a stupid question, but I was wondering, do you know if 2280 lumens is brighter than 1680 lux? I'm not sure if lux and lumens are the same. I have two DOF HVR-D160 video lights that are 1680 lux each at 1 meter. But I'm considering getting those of these Yongnuo YN-300 IIIs if 2280 lumens at 1 meter (4560 for two) would be a big difference over the 3360 lux at 1 meter that I use now. Any info appreciated, thanks! And nice video and unboxing, BTW!
@mr.frandy7692
@mr.frandy7692 10 ай бұрын
It really depends how concentrated the beam of light is. Lumens is total output, but lux is the amount of light that falls on a particular spot. So while you may have a light with low lumens, if it's a spotlight, the lux value would remain fairly high relative to a more floody light

This video's from 2 years ago. Things have changed a lot since it was uploaded, and unfortunately all of my replies were deleted (changed channel names in the last 2 years, which, for some reason, deleted every comment I made before the change). The camera I was using was the Panasonic G7 with the Panasonic 20mm f/1.7 lens. As far as the settings, it was most likely f/1.7, shutter speed either 1/60 or 1/120, and ISO 200 or 400, but it's been so long, and things have changed so much, it's really hard to remember.

hey Jordan!! I can spend just about 135 box please help me I need to buy lights urgently thank you!!
@JordanKeyes
@JordanKeyes 8 жыл бұрын
They're two very different lights, really. The ring light puts out a lot more light, and as long as you don't put it directly in front of the person you're filming, you'll never know you're using a ring light, it just looks like another LED panel. I use mine with the camera right in the center, so you can see it in my glasses/eyes, and it can be a bit distracting, but it provides a ton of light, so I like it a lot.
