I really like coffee. I really like coffee from a French press. I often grind the beans. I'm not packing a grinder out into the wilds. Oh, and put the ground coffee into the pot, then add the water. It will stir the grounds up better. Good review, dude.

Love Stanley stuff... I have a 70 year old Stanley thermos from my Granddad. It's huge and has a cork for a stopper! He used it for work for 33 years and I have used it all my life as well. It will also probably be used by my sons! I do have a smaller newer more modern one now that I love as well... Just good products. Sure wish they were all made in the U.S. like the old days... God Bless!

*FYI* to get rid of coffee stains in your thermos, fill with hot water and 2-3 denture tablets. Let sit for a few hours, then wash it out. If the stains aren't gone, repeat step one. Great on thermos style travel mugs as well.

I have the 32oz single walled Stanley coffee press and I absolutely love it. It has the butterfly all metal handles and a full molded plastic press. Much lighter than this system and can be used as a full liter pot if you don't need to use it as a coffee press. I like the cups and place to hold your coffee beans like this does, nor does it have a thermos. But I still think it's better than this system. Thanks for showing this!

Thank you for the review. I may just have to pick one of these up. BTW - noticed that it appears that the french press has a handy twist-lock feature that keeps it in the down-most, compressed state, which I don't believe you engaged. Thanks again for sharing. Steve

I wonder if you could just carry hot water in the thermos and if it's still hot (coffee temperature), just pour it into the pot,; if not pour it in anyway and light a fire underneath it and it will get to a boil faster as it's already hot. REI has this on clearance with an extra 25% off. Cost is around 31.00

Great review. I liked your insert with the repair and your devotion to quality freshly ground coffee. Nice style.. Also I imagine once used with coffee it better not be used with tea. Coffee taste embedded in plastic would ruin the quality of a tea beverage. Other than that - cool idea!

If you are really the coffee drinker I think you are. You probably have a couple of old French Presses sitting around in your kitchen. Just grab one of the plungers out of your French press and use it in your old Stanley cook pot. It fits perfectly and you've only spent about $15

After watching your review, I got one of these and have been using it for some months. You're absolutely right, it makes fine coffee. My only problem is that I boiled water in the boiler pot one day without extending the handle, and the heat from my gas stove caused the plastic component in the handle to melt somewhat, so the handle no longer locks properly, which is a real nuisance. Is it possible to buy a replacement spare part for that plastic thing somewhere? Great review, thank for posting it. I got one of the coffee grinders too. that's good as well.

Bought one and use it for a while, but I don't care for it. The French press part relies on a thin gasket that constantly twists. The grounds always make it in the coffee. It doesn't hole enough coffee Good idea, but a poor insert. I now use a Stanley nesting cup set with a regular French press insert.
