N717QS (cn 20717/882) Built 1974
Recorded December 18, 1995. This is prior to this classic receiving Stage III engines & huge winglets, so here's a good chance to hear an original Stage II 707 start engines, taxi, depart, land & of course the awesome reverse thrust which was all shot at an extremely noise sensitive airport. Sadly, she was broken up.

Flew all over the world in various 707's in the 1960's....great plane !!

I used to load, assist with startups and push backs on these beauties (707-320C) in the early seventies at Heathrow with TMA (N7095 & N7096). Once had to assist with a wheel change after a blowout, with the aircraft blocking the 28L runway - that was exciting. Wonderful aircraft, wonderful sound!

I spent many an hour during the 70s searching the OAG for the codes B2F, B3F and B7F and more booking flights on them. I wish I could get that excited about travel again.

And to think Rolls Royce Conways were louder than the JT3D's and JT4's were louder than the Conways! I would give anything to go back in time to hear a straight turbojet 707 or DC-8. Very short-lived period.

Its a crying shame she was scrapped, nothing beats a 707 for sound.

Former B-2408 with CAAC and China Southwest, ended up with Quiet Skies which fitted new Stage 3 hushkits to the JT3Ds. Scrapped around 2002

I remember as a child in the 60's seeing my dad arrive back home in these. Midway Airport in Chicago.

Yes Sir. This is classic that revolutionized plane travel era. Non stop 4 hours LA-New York or Washington and also USA-EUROPE over Atlantic Ocean non stop Paris, Madrid or London. It will always be remembered and missing the sound of its powerful PRAT-WHITNEY turbines. It could probably could had been restored for tour or charter flights within USA.
