Incredible Unrestricted Take off F-15 fighter jet RAF Mildenhall 28Oct16 321pm this is the lakenheath F-15 that came to Mildenhall to test their emergency breaking line ( cable) that stops planes in the event of an emergency like a brake failure,i/we had no idea in advance we would get to see an Unrestricted take off when it left ! filmed this on my 1080p 90x zoom Panasonic Camcorder while standing on uneven wet wooden pallets surrounded by people inches either side of me making it very tricky to film as smoothly as i did, the Mildenhall runway is 2810 metres long , en.wikipedia.org/wiki/RAF_Mil... see en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mile 1 mile is 1609 metres so i was filming a plane nearly 2 miles away when you see it turn onto the end of the runway .
Part of this video was used in this brilliant video celebrating Raf lakenheath pilots winning the raytheon Trophy vimeo.com/217605310 so watch that too .

Built to a different set of rules - simple -fast- sturdy with growth in mind - F-15 E Best fighter bomber we have - MCAIR new what they had and built - had to keep the government bean counters from screwing with it.. “Not a pound for air to ground “was the US Gov’t mantra - IAF said screw that and reconfigured their A/C as soon as possible after delivery and parked ..

@Cobradriver99 Actually it was made specifically to counter one MiG. The Soviets managed to leak info to the CIA that indicated the aircraft to have a phenomenal and frankly scary performance. Altough in reality it was crap as the US later found out. Afraid, the senate ordered the air force to come up with something better. They pulled in everything they could and managed the goal....which means the plan of the Soviets backfired spectacularly.

Hmm but why did he have to level off right after taking off before he climb? Is this a tactical move or?
@chrisdelzell8467
@chrisdelzell8467 3 жыл бұрын
@@weidelye8537 he climbs quicker that way. The F-15 can, with clean wings, accelerate straight up, but it does so very slowly. Picture the wings as a ramp and the engine as a guy pushing a minecart. If you have the ramp be vertical, a very beefy guy can still just take the cart on his shoulders and lift it with brute force, but if you have him build up speed on a level path and then go up, he goes way faster. If the pilot didn't mind wasting a lot of gas and going pretty slow, the earliest point where he could have pulled way up was right as his nose wheel left the ground. With two drop tanks (the big round things under the wings, which store extra gas) he probably couldn't have gone straight up without slowing down either.
@chrisdelzell8467
@chrisdelzell8467 3 жыл бұрын
@@weidelye8537 best comparison actually is probably a rocket launch. A space rocket with 2 Gs of thrust moves a lot slower off the launch pad than a rocket car with 2 Gs, because gravity is stealing half of the former one's oomph. F-15 gets up to something between 1 and 1.2 Gs, so straight up it can only accelerate at up to 1/6th its usual rate.

For some reason I love seeing when the Brits not only welcome our military there as close allies but aren't to proud to show their love and respect for our aircraft even with their proud history of great engineering and planes. The P51 is a perfect example of the two nations contributing something to make something no one else could compete with in it's day. American designed plane then stuck in the British rolls Royce and it was all she wrote. Even today when several mustangs come over they look amazing but the sound of all the Merlin's together is awesome

This was a common sight for a long time at Lambert Field as the F-15s could exit the controlled air space around STL the fastest that way. Commercial travelers frequently got a show if any were going out for test flights. Back in the day, you could roll out in a Cessna 172 and have an F-4, F-15, or F-18 sitting in front of you or behind you.

The F-15 is an amazing jet. I worked at an airport/National Guard base and had 4 F-15E's land. Let me tell you something, when they departed the next day, the sound that you hear live, is nothing like what you hear on your computer. Not even close. Yes it's loud, but the actual vibration felt throughout your entire body just magnifies the awesome power of this jet. It's simply incredible.

Still probably the most valuable fighter jet in our fleet because: they’re actually replaceable (unlike the F22), repairable, robust, reliable, available in large numbers. Those are qualities that matter most in a long drawn-out conflict with a serious adversary.

Very repairable. I spent most of my childhood and young adult life seeing these in various states of repair. My dad used to work in a hanger where the long term projects were stored and he'd bring me to work every day before school (I went on base but lived in town) and the airmen would show me all of the jets and different components.

The F-15 was a mistake. NATO knew that the new MiG had a large wing, which would make it highly manoeuvrable, and they had radar data from Israel that tracked one flying at Mach 3.2. It was therefore believed that the Soviets had a super-fast, super-agile new fighter which would run rings around anything NATO had. The resulting panic pushed demands for a new air superiority fighter that could at least keep within shouting distance of the new Soviet super-fighter. The result was the F-15. Of course, it turned out that the MiG-25 needed its large wing because it was so _heavy,_ and it wasn't nearly as manoeuvrable as they had assumed. And while it was capable of Mach 3.2, that flight resulted in the aircraft eating its own engines, and the engines had to be completely scrapped and replaced; normal operating speed was more like Mach 2.5. So the US ended up with one of the best air superiority fighters of all time by mistake!

Furthermore the US acquired a MiG-25 later because one pilot defected and landed in Japan. The US was excited, relieved, then extremely underwhelmed when they found out it was basically a flying shit box. They also found out how behind the Soviet’s were in technology because the MiG-25 uses vacuum tubes. While it wouldn’t be affected by an EMP from a nuclear blast it’s sketchy af because you’re flying an aerodynamically unstable brick with rockets for engines with no computer aid. (Good luck recovering from anything)

The mig 25 and 31 were built to counter the SR-71. They failed in numerous attempts. They were interceptors, and the F-15 was not to counter them. It was to replace the F-4, which was out maneuvered by the MiG 23 and other 3rd gen fighters. It was a response to our losses in Vietnam.

That was nothing. No, really. Ever heard an F-111 take off on full afterburner? You almost cannot hear someone shouting at you from two feet away .... this when you are half a mile away and indoors. On the phone and finger in opposite ear with phone smashed against ear and you can't hear ANYTHING. Yay, depot maintenance base, was at least interesting.

I've always loved this aircraft. When I was in the Air Force and going through my training, I was hoping with all my heart to be assigned to an F-15 unit. Instead, I was assigned to EC-130s and WC-130s. I was severely disappointed. Over time, I grew to love my 130s, but I still wish it had been F-15s. One of the greatest aircraft ever built!

Did that for the first time in an F-14A Tomcat at NAS Pensacola FL. It was for a 'dog & pony show' for all Flight School students aspiring to fighters. Called for clearance on a flight of four Tomcats going to the southern MOA for 'ACM familiarization' over the Gulf of Mexico. We were cleared to climb unrestricted to FL 350 (35,000 ft AGL). Flight lead did an Immelmann over the top at altitude to set up the split into 1v1 intercepts for the next 30 min.. Totally awesome. Tomcats forever!!

They could really fly those things. Very low stall speed, smooth precision flight. Quiet when they wanted to be. No more noise then a car. Could slip up on you if you weren't looking. 200 yards would be a bad time to find out he's coming for you.

John W . There’s two versions, the modern half-loop then half-roll as you describe (so return over original path at higher altitude), and the WW1 quarter-loop then full-rudder stall turn (at this point the biplanes were nearly stalling) to come back down the original quarter loop and re-engage at the same altitude. It allowed a pilot to re-engage on a target in less time than a traditional horizontal turn at less risk. Zoom in, strafe, up-round and back down onto the target, or come underneath, loop up to shoot into the belly and then stall turn and away backwards, never entering a defensive gun arc.

Actually, Anthony, the Saturn V has a comparable thrust to weight ratio of the F15C. 7.5 million lbs of thrust vx. 6 million lbs. weight. By the time it reached 15,000 km, it had burned up 2.25 million lbs of fuel, and by that time had a thrust to weight ratio of around 1.85 to one, even better than the F15A's 1.4 to one. The old girl still has some life in her. Growing up in the 1970s and 1980s, I felt safe looking up at F-15s and other aircraft filling the skies on their way to Wright-Patterson AFB. One couldn't drive on a freeway in Ohio without seeing jet engines on flatbed being taken to or from refurbishment. Cargo aircraft were constantly loading defense materials at every airport around. My sisters and I would go to Akron to watch Loral sonodomes get loaded onto C5As. The plane looked like a giant beached whale through young eyes. Luckily, my eldest sister did the dispatching for several firms and knew when these monsters were arriving. Jet noise was a comforting sign of freedom and fortune. I miss that.
