@@g3MZ1ZA11G00D the person said it like in a general environment, not specifically this video. also, koreans are unfortunately pretty ignorant when it comes to other cultures because they don't learn about it in a wider range like other countries do, so it's not surprising that they doesn't know the right term for something and know it only because of music for example, don't take it too much to heart. also, dreads and dreadlocks are not the only hairstyles black people use, so don't trim it down to only these two either.

lol idk I find it pretty damn cringe. after years of going out in Korea and my black girl friends (who were totally nothing close to be the stereotype, but rather quiet and shy) being constantly harassed by Korean strangers going "oooo HIP HOP STYLE!!! twerk for me???" like they were zoo animals for their entertainment. sometimes I wanted to go back up to them and go "oooh KPOP style! Gangnam style for me!" and laugh at them and see how they felt (of course I would never). I have an idea they would perfectly understand the concept of being a bit rude/cringe and discriminatory then if the tables were flipped...

Modern and ancient Ethiopians are two different things the ancient one refers mainly to nubians people from n/e africa mainly sudan their skin is as dark as charcoal, are very tall in some regions their height averages at 6'4,the modern ones are unrelated infact they destroyed the original kushitic empire and took the nameethiopia, the newones are a mix b/n mideastern & hornafricans they are called abyssinians they speak semitic languages similar to arabic & Hebrew, there are more nonsemitic people in n-e africa but the abyssinians are way more influential, had one of the strongest empires they were even called one of the 4 greatest powers of the world for a time, thats when they conquered the nubia ruled it for 300+ years ,lead to the total lose of their identity, language, script, religion& they were Christianized by them ,later islamized by arabs so they don't even know that they were/are the real Ethiopians

Can we please just stop calling it reggae hair though? Reggae is a music genre not a hair style. Just call it locs or dreadlocs. Preferably locs. And rapper hair! it’s just braids or twist. Black people don’t wear braids and twist because they’re rappers. They wear it because it’s a hairstyle that protects and maintains our hair health. We wear it because we are black. Not because we’re rappers. Not all black people rap or even like rap music. So it’s not “rapper hair”. And I get it, Korean people mostly see these hairstyles on rappers because of the media and associate locs with reggae because of Bob Marley but it’s not right and a lot of black people don’t like it. Me included. (I’m not speaking for all black people.) Glad this video was made though. Coming from a place of love, please call our hairstyles by it’s right name. If you don’t know it’s okay to continue to ask. I promise I’m not a rapper and although I love reggae music that’s not why I have locs.

@@jasonc5437 The intricacies of the differences between faux hawk and a bowl cut has nothing to do with the surface topic of the name of a hairstyle. On the very surface, braids, locs, twist and fro. That’s it. I’m not even talking about Bantu knots, kinky twist, Nubian twist, box braids, micro braids. Different kinds of cuts, fade, bowl cuts, low tops, and so on. That’s taking that surface level of knowledge and breaking down the Topic into individual categories which further explains the intricacies of black hair. At THAT point no, it’s not important. That’s also not my point. It’s also not for the sake of comparing and contrasting two different hair styles; a faux hawk and a bowl cut. Also not my point. It’s simply calling the name of the hair styles AT surface level by its rightful names. That is important. Because some Korean people wear these hair styles and call them by it’s wrong name. Also because as you saw how excited he was to ask him all those questions in the video, it obviously shows his interest in black culture and black things. It doesn’t make sense to be that interested in something and then at the same time think it’s not important enough to know what’s right. And if you’re being corrected and continuing doing whatever you want because you think it’s not important enough then at the point, by the logic of your reply, that’s just disrespectful. Ain’t nobody asking them to learn everything about black hair. Just call braids, braids and locs, locs. I’ve lived here for years and I don’t like people pointing at me saying oh rapper hair, I’m not a rapper. I don’t like when people say oh so this is reggae hair!? I don’t have not one reggae album out here in these streets. Just as sure as someone calling all Traditional Asian clothings Kimonos because they say it in an anime and they look the same. Or calling it a kdrama dress. We gotta put some respect on they names and they gotta put some respect on ours. That’s it

The key word is ''out of pure curiosity'' and I believe this is how it should always be reminded. Not everyone split between the line has malicious intents and are just simple..curious! Hello, I'm Black and I wanted to share a few things that did not sit well with me. PLEASE read if you're curious about learning more about antiracism... It's important to point out that stereotypes about Black skin and Black bodies being "stronger" or "tighter" than non-Black bodies are EXTREMELY damaging, specifically in the medical context. For example, Black people are assumed by most doctors to have "thicker skin" which is NOT true, and are many times denied pain medication or not medicated enough. This causes extreme pain and suffering for the Black community. Additionally, our bodies are over-athleticized to justify the use of them for unpaid labor and medical experimentation. The entire idea that "race" exists to separate people into categories based on physical appearance was created by white slave traders to create a way of determining who had power and who was "less than human." This video was made in a fun and friendly manner, and I think it's important that videos like this are being made, but it is vital to include historical context if you want to put an end to these harmful stereotypes once and for all. Thanks for reading

Fully agree, do you know that in 2009 or 2012 there was a study that OXFORD, yes Oxford University students training to be doctors, thought black people didn't feel pain! That is the sort of sick stuff that slave owners said to feel better about the torture 💔 i found this so scary, even now black females in labour are more likely to die, due to notice receiving full care etc... And ah during black people who had covid people weren't sent away... Just because they didn't see the same symptoms like u would on a white person, of course so be educated in all areas! But they died :( it's really hate breaking and thank you for the comment it definitely needs to be brought to attention :)

I think the physiology is important too. Races usually vary in body types. I know East Asians tend to be much slimmer than South Asians. True, I'm African and I wonder where the stereotype of africans being thick came from. Majority of Africans are naturally slim due to our healthy diet and lifestyle! Look up tribes in Africa and tell me if any of them look "thick" to you. Majority of them are skinny and slender. Heck, some of the skinniest people around the world are found in Africa. I think this "thick" concept comes from the US where there are a lot of fat people, and african americans are among the fattest.

One thing is black people own their rhythm like any other group does and you didn't fully give the right expression to that. It's a fiber to our being really focused on in expression of ourselves that happens to be a contribution to the world for it's many dimensions that others also feel from it. With many of those dimensions happening because of the instinct of that rhythm getting dispersed throughout the Americas in newer ways or refound in newer ways because of being taken away within the experience of the Americas through slavery.

Just a PLUS about black people to complete what Joey said : - They are so many and very different black PEOPLES with various cultures (continents, islands, mixed races, specific regions etc.) and skintones - Hip hop, funk, rap (etc.) and music like soul too were created by different black communities but aren't necessarily the (only) music black peoples listen to, many people can dislike some of these genres too, they just listen to what they want to (not every white american listen to country music for instance). Plus, not every black people can sing well obviously and certainly not rap. - All black people don't share the same skin/body/genes/hair and don't have the same clear, perfect skin, they also have complexes and natural flaws, they have facial problems as other people do have as well. [Asian skin and beauty products are also praised & looked up for by foreign people, and some western people think that Asian are the ones with great skin. - Just exercise and have an healthy routine and diet to gain big muscles. Not all black people do sports or are good at them. - Be cautious with cultural appropriation, offensive slang words and generalities, look up on the web the information you need or ask your friends respectfully
