@AD-kv9kj
@AD-kv9kj Ай бұрын
It wasn't "ironic", it was deliberately done as one of their many desperate attempts to pretend George Lazenby was remotely like Sean Connery. They should have left out all those references to the Connery movies, they don't somehow make Lazenby seem more like Connery's Bond, they just keep reminding you how much better Connery was. I love OHMSS generally as a Bond movie, but Lazenby was a piece of cringey cardboard struggling to pull off being James Bond. He was very lucky to have gotten (still to this day) one of the finest Bond movie scripts and productions that all did everything possible to make him look decent in the part. It wouldn't have happened this way, but had Connery been given this exact same script and production, the film would have been 5 times as good just from that. Sadly, they just kept wanting to camp up Connery's movies and make them all about space rockets and silliness. Connery would have jumped at the opportunity to work on this same level of production and screenplay too.

Definitely one of my favourite Bond films, quite possibly even my favourite of the older ones. It's got the best action scenes in the series so far with those glorious ski chase sequences, as well as some brilliantly tense sequences like the safe-cracking scene. John Barry's score is absolutely phenomenal, the definitive best soundtrack in the entire series, with a theme song so iconic Michael Giacchino would later use it as a reference for the theme to The Incredibles. This version of Blofeld is by far the best one, Telly Savalas being suave and cool, while also incredibly menacing. And above all, the romance between Bond and Tracy - one of the best Bond girls, played to perfection by Diana Rigg - makes this a really special entry, a beautiful heartfelt love story that really gets you to buy the idea that these two are truly in love, only to then rip it away in one brutal devastating moment. OHMSS was definitely a contentious film when it first came out, but it's one that definitely gets better over time, and the fact that directors like Christopher Nolan have labelled it their favourite Bond film tells you just how special this one is

8:01 Yes, very good, you’re starting to notice differences in directorial style! This film did have a different director than the previous films (which didn’t all have the same director: Terence Young had directed DR. NO, FROM RUSSIA WITH LOVE, and THUNDERBALL; Guy Hamilton directed GOLDFINGER; Lewis Gilbert directed YOU ONLY LIVE TWICE), in fact it was a first time director, Peter Hunt, who had been the editor of all the previous Bond films and also second unit director for GOLDFINGER, THUNDERBALL, and YOU ONLY LIVE TWICE. It’s not terribly uncommon for film editors to shift to directing, or for some directors to also edit their own films, in collaboration or on their own. Cinematographers and actors also are known to do this, as well as move into producing.

So, they made a documentary about it a handful of years ago called "Becoming Bond", that's fun, but the short version is that George Lazenby was an Australian male model who didn't have any acting experience, and basically conned his way into getting the part, but once he had the part, he basically wasn't that into it and bailed, and then Sean Connery ended up coming back anyways. I don't think many people really liked his one appearance as Bond, but he seems like he was a pretty cool dude in real life. Oh, and if you think this Bond was forward, wait until you get to Roger Moore. I like Roger as Bond, and in general as an actor, but in those movies, it's almost like damn! He can pull it off because he's Bond, but if he wasn't it would come off as pretty creepy. Sean Connery never had to work that hard for it.

The book Bond is so significantly different than the movie Bond except for kinda this movie. The book Bond is a cold war warrior that is a broken man; this death, torture and just disassociation. The glamour masks this and hides the real man who has a nervous breakdown, probably ptsd and is a front-line warrior who is damaged and wounded and thrown back into the battle time after time in service to his country. The movie Bond shallows the person behind the suit. This movie humanizes Bond, at least insofar as he experiences a real cost.

Hi, Mrs. Burton. To answer your questions about avalanches, I happen to have worked at a ski resort for a few years (nothing as big as depicted in the movie, though) and I can tell you that "noise causing avalanches" thing is a well known legend to anyone living in a mountainous area. Although it was based on a scientific hypothesis that the reverberation of sounds caused by loud noises in a mountainous area could trigger an avalanche, it is nothing but a myth... that a lot of peoples still believe in today. Also, anybody unlucky enough to be caught up in an avalanche is pretty much screwed up from the start... As they get pretty much buried alive under the snow. That is why a lot of big ski resorts on the North-American west coast or the European Alps also have search and rescue dogs, specially trained to sniff out humans trapped under the snow. Unfortunately, as timing is crucial in order to dig survivors out, a lot of them end up suffocating to death. That is also why ski resorts are (generally) very careful and will close any sector of the mountain that shows any danger of avalanche. Hope it answer your questions. :)

George Lazenby has to be the best Bond imo. Only for the fact he conned his way into rhis role. Made up so much stuff and just kept rolling with it. Theres an awesome documentary about it i suggest you take a peak at that shows how he did it.
