I think I paid 15$ on Playstation idk if it went up later or went down when I got it and honestly I would have payed 50$ or 100$ to me its priceless. Like Super Metroid! It's so good! And I have NO idea why people bitch about the story. I found it freaking amazing! The music is incredible and to think Thomas did it all at a time when him and his family were having a HARD time is commendable! God bless you and your family and wife and son, Tom! +Caz agreed, a last year I bought Wolf Among Us for around $15, and while a single playthrough only takes about 7 hours, I loved it so much that I would have gladly paid more. In fact I did, I ended up rebuying it to gift to my friend because he kept buying stupid games instead of Wolf Among Us like I told him too.

Same here. I downloaded it years ago and loved it. When I learned one guy made it I was astounded. I immediately got stickers and a shirt from him. It was a wonderful love letter to Metroid but just different enough.

Ruko Michiharu Actually, several NES games that came out during the NES' later years featured parallax scrolling such as Metal Storm and Crisis Force. That said, I agree that, visually, it's more along the lines of a 12-bit game, highly detailed 8-bit spritework with the palette of a 16-bit title.

***** I know about those, but the NES only had a single BG layer so making parallax scrolling backgrounds is very limited and requires programming tricks to pull off, games like Ninja Gaiden 2 and 3 and shatterhand divide the single BG layer of the NES into several horizontal non-overlapping parts and moves each part at a different speed, and Crisis Force does the same, except vertically, and games like Metal Storm and Bucky O'Hare do overlapping parallax scrolling by animating BG tiles to make it look like they're moving at a different speed, that's why the parallax of Metal Storm looks so repetitive... But this game uses up to 3 overlapping BG layers (or more) which is on a Super Nintendo level (or superior in spots, but I'd say this game as a whole is on more of a GBA level overall, except with lower colour count)

Ruko Michiharu I'd call it 8-bit on steroids, the overall graphics quality is slightly better than an NES but not up to SNES standards, my guess is that the developer chose to limit himself to NES standards for nostalgic or design reasons, personally I would have preferred if he did the 16-bit style, that way he could use any digitized sound for sound effects, maybe in the sequel.

arcticridge I'd call it 16 bit on steroids because of the visual effects, even if the colour-count isn't that high... 8 bit on steroids would be if this was a Turbografx 16 style game, and the Turbografx 16 can show more colours on-screen than the SNES and the Genesis combined, (plus, can make bigger sprites than the Genesis) but just like the NES it only has a single BG layer which limits parallax scrolling and other kinds of visual effects...

Ruko Michiharu When it gets down to it, "8-bit" is entirely meaningless in terms of graphics. Everything from the Atari 2600 to the Master System were 8-bit. When it all gets down to it, "8-bit" is just a name for a general art style.

NitroRad The Metroid Prime series is where the series hit its peak, in my opinion. Though Super Metroid is super great for the 2D series.

***** Metroid Prime 1 kinda did not hit it's peak for this series. The boss collection was mixed in metroid prime. 50% of them are worth talking about (Thardus, meta-rilidly, the Metroid prime), but the other 50% ranged from too easy (Parasite queen) to meah (Flagala) to REALLY GOD AWFUL BURN TO THE GROUND BURN TO THE-BURN (Omgea Pirate)!!!!! Don't forget it's other 2 major flaws: the worst checkpoint placement in gaming and Phazon mines, my least favorite level in gaming. Metroid prime 2 is the one that hit the peak in my opinion since metroid bosses and the boost gaurdian is not as bad as everyone says. It's like everyone on youtube is forced to hate a boss that is not close to being bad compared to many really anoying bosses i fought like the omega pirate. Plus it has Quadraxiax who i love and emproper Ing, my favorite final boss in a metroid game! Also, i love dark aither and the ing. They are both really cool. And at least it dosen't have any major difficultity spikes unlike metroid prime, and dark torvus bog is hard for the right reasons. And at least the checkpoints are closer to each other. And for those who say that the checkpoint next to the spider gaurdian sucks for being far away from it, the 2 checkpoints in phazon mines are miles away from each other! And for those who say that the sky temple keys suck, i don't mind them. When exploring, i have very high patience (that comes from a guy who beat the great maze from super smash bros. brawl in one go without tiring out). That's why metroid prime 2 is my favorite in the series.

As much as I adore/love/worship the metroid franchise, I think that super metroid is easily one of the most overrated games on earth, it's great, I love it, but it's not the holy grail of gaming. I personally think that all of the prime games and even....(don't hang me) other m improved off of it...
