I have the craft ac82e 1.5hp HVLP extractor with the canister upgrade plus a reduced to fit the 100mm hose to the 63mm port. It works like a charm and collects the majority of the waste. It’s also very surprisingly quiet compared to a HPLV. Great content, keep up the good work

Hi Matt. It deep cut softwood easy even pushing it quite fast like you said. I like the way the table is split on the side and the quick release door knobs good features. Performs well for a small bandsaw also the table trunnions are nice and substantial and very easy to access compared to a lot of others. Tony

Good video Matt - re dust extraction, I have this bandsaw‘s bigger brother, the 2305B. It’s hooked up using 100mm hose to the AWEDE2 (850m3) and it’s *ok*. It’s def better with than without, but you’ll still get pieces on the table and need to vacuum out now and again. Might get a better result with a bigger machine, but this is def in the “hobbyist” category that the bandsaw is aimed at 👍

A good review, I like the fact that you gave your views honestly & succinctly, but still asked others for their views on the extraction because you didn't have the answer yourself. You can always learn from others. The only issue I could see was that the push stick was on the wrong side of the saw, reaching round would annoy the heck out of me. I would put a hook on the front for easier access.

Another classic from ur good self Matt.. So do u have a little fire in this shop of yours? That's the coolest thing I've seen so far in woodworking videos.. LOL.. Another great video my friend. U explain things very clearly and concisely. This is the way it should be done. I liked hearing u say that the bandsaw can do the majority of the work the Table saw can do but the one thing I like about the table saw is the jigs we can make for it. I am getting into cabinetry for Kitchens/bathrooms, etc and I am slowly learning how to cut angles into the door panels. U know what I mean? I know a router table with the correct bits can do that job as well but i have some fears over this too. I have some fears with my table saw as well. The table saw I bought was a cheaper saw which I couldn't use most of the very good mitre gauges with so I have to rebuild a new table top and replace the crappy one on my saw. That's gut wrenching bcos we shouldn't need to have to do something like that. I really want to get one of the Axminster table saws but they're very expensive and the bandsaw has to be the 1st thing I get from them. The people at Axminster come across as really great people and from all accounts I've heard the company care about their customers too. It only makes good business sense of course but still most companies don't care after they've got ur money most of the time. In the NEW YEAR I will be getting me one of those saws mate. I was looking at one for about 1400 euros a couple of months back and I may go for one of the 2300 euro Bandsaws. It's a big layout of cash but I do believe these Bandsaws from Axminster are well worth spending on if I want to ever get to the next level in woodworking. I have enrolled in some great woodworking classes to give me a better basic grounding in this field bcos I only took this up late last year. I found I have a real passion for working with wood and metal in my 50th year on this earth. It's crazy how long it took but life gets in the way of a lot of things Matt. Salute to u Sir for the brilliant content again and I will share like and all that good stuff too. Take it easy mate. Best of luck moving forward with ur woodworking as well. Apologies for such long comments bro.. I get carried away when talking about this stuff these days.. LMAO

I’ve been using this saw with 63mm ducting onto a Dust Commander DLX. and Mikita vac. Extraction has been good despite underlining air leak issues with my system. The only bug I have with this saw is the fence rail sticking out. I’ve caught myself several times on it with resting flesh wounds. I added a shaped foam block to the end but ideally it needs a soft end cap.

I also use the Axminster Craft AC82E 1.5HP Dust Extractor with an Axminster Craft Filter Cartridge and agree it's a good improvement to LVHP vacuum extractors. Improved my bandsaw and tablesaw extraction and kept the air much cleaner than with the standard bag on the AC82E. I only had the bag on for a week before ordering the filter cartridge. Pair this extractor with an air filter and your lungs will thank you.

@@graham8854 I have the same setup and fully agree that the filter makes a massive difference. I find the AC82E keeps the internal closures clear on the bandsaw (same as this review) but like all these saws there is no flow on the table top so this always need a clear every now and then. I have a LVHP that I use for cleaning around at the end, works a treat in combo. When I first had the bandsaw I had it set up on the LVHP 'dustbin' and found that it really removed little of the internal sawdust. My AC82E is set up with the Axminster 100mm workshop ectraction kit to a lathe hood, sander, planer/thicknesser and router table outlet with Y fittings adn blast gates. So long as I keep an eye on opening the right gates I find that this kit has not degraded the extraction noticable, no clogs at all.

Hi Matt, I bought one of these on your recommendation and it seems great. One slight niggle is that when I try the 'pencil test' the blade does have slight forwards and backwards motion which doesn't seem to be rectified by blade tension/alignment. Any thoughts why this might be?

Hi Matt. Personally, I wouldn't buy a high volume low pressure chip extractor for this machine. I find that if you reduce the hose diameter below 100 mm to connect to two smaller ports it chokes the airflow...it works ok if you split between a 100mm port and a smaller one . I have the same Axminster extractor as you and I find it needs more airflow to extract from larger machines like bandsaws...it's great for hand held power tools and small stationary sanders. If I connect my 2000 watt record dx4000 to the bandsaw, it eats all the dust without any problems using only one motor.

Great review. Thanks for sharing. Is there a way to define how tense the saw band should be tightened? I think I put them too tense which result in breaking the saw band. But when I put it looser, than the blade wobbles and/or it touches the bearings.

Would this bandsaw be alright bolted to a benchtop ? I dont have room for the stand as my small workshop has bench tops all the way round. Since watching this video and your previous one on the Record Power BS250 I think I will go with the Axminster, seems to get through thick stuff easier and is less noisy ? Can anyone confirm that or not ? Thanks

ditto on bandsaw and I agree the stand is fine but I'm re-jigging to make it mobile and I have the trolley (same as yours) and its not ideal as I have a garage workshop and the floor is not that level (I've plans to relay that anyway with latex self levelling to get an ultra smooth surface (better for cleaning!) but the bandsaw itself is great.

I have a bigger Axminster band saw and much bigger dust extraction to go with it but still get dust come out from the saw. I think its because it is almost impossible to get any dust extraction were the bottom guides are and dust shoots out from the side. I just sweep it up once a week as it's not much.

@@chrisflux57 Throat plate constantly comes out during use and is very thin plastic this is why it comes out not thick enough to get a decent hold as it is friction fit , had to cut a washer in half and put under the table levelling bolt to get both halves of table level, mitre gauge does not slide over the top of the fence rail when pulling back no way of lowering fence rail as this stops the fence fitting on the rail fence is very stiff to move so hard to make accurate cuts , tilting the table is very clunky not smooth at all and doesn't tighten up very well to stop it moving when in position it feels like the bolt will snap as you have to put way to much pressure on it, hope this helps with your decision to be honest i think the ferrex saw from Aldi would have been better and less than half the price.

Machine specs say a minimum air flow of 390 cu. metres per hour, that’s a serious size (& expensive) dust extractor. Also best to ensure that dust extractor is of M class or filters down to 1 micron because it’s the ultra fine dust that causes early death, no kidding.
