May I ask what Zu speakers you have? I was thinking about getting some. What do you like so much about the magnepans? Also does it offer any bass at all or you absolutely have to have a sub? Yes! If you've never heard maggies they will impress the hell out of you for sure, it's a difference experience.

@@user-zx6oc3bi3b I have the Zu DW6 Supremes in triple black, and they look sexy. They also sound fantastic. Then the LRS+ entered the room. The LRS+ were a bit harsh at first, but after an hour or so they started loosening up and really sounding phenomenal. Yes, better than the Zu's. The way the LRS+ handle the midrange and top end is hard to explain when comparing to the Zu's. The Maggies have a more natural presentation vs sound from a box. Just a better overall listening experience. The bass... The LRS+, at least in my room, have plenty of bass, if not too much. I used the Rolls SX45 active crossover to shift the low end off to my subs. The crossover really opened up the LRS+ speakers, they really opened up, and the extra stress of the low end was shifted away from the amplifier and off to the subs. I would recommend at least one sub with these speakers. The REL T-Zero Mark III seems very popular, I have a pair on the way. I have mine out around five feet into the room. I went to Amazon and spent $20 ea for flat panel TV stand legs. They bolted right up and look very much like the $300 ones Maggie sells. I would recommend getting a pair, they look factory and you can adjust the height of the speaker with ease. And they hold the speakers vertical. Worth the $40. I started off running these LRS+ on my Fosi ZA3 amp. The ZA3 did not even break a sweat and drove the Maggies with ease. But, they sounded a bit 2 dimensional, so I dragged out my old Emotiva XPA2, this is their first gen Class A/B amp and it sounded fantastic with the Maggies. I would say look for an amp, Class A/B that is at least 100 wpc, and use the Rolls SX45 crossover along with a sub like the T-Zero, just to relieve the stress on your amplifier. I do not believe this crossover will work with an integrated amp, so you will need separates, DAC, Preamp and amplifier. For $1000, I would not pass these up. They easily surpass my Zu's, and those were roughly $2800 delivered. I could have more or less bought three pairs of the Maggies vs one pair of Zu's. And I am a serious Zu fanboy.

@@NemoPropaganda My buddy found a pair of demos locally, he is picking them up on Tuesday... He heard my experience and is chomping at the bit. And he has owned a few Maggies in his journey, he simply cannot believe the price to sound ratio.

I don't have any strong opinions on what I heard at the show, I was in and out of most rooms fairly quickly, filming all the rooms in 2 days is a serious challenge so if I had any left over time I used it to chat with people instead of listen to gear :)
