Amakuru in those days can be seen today as kanjo this song it's more alive in today's life. Amakuru were enemy of progress back then. Same with kanjo tu.

Great music. Great rendition. "Likuru" is just "Recruit", Luhya pronounciation. Recruits were used to collect hut tax during colonial era, but that continued and got a life of its own post independence when leaders used it to 'eat'.
