this record is just fantastic. brutal, fresh, dirty and sludgy, great lyrics too. such ahead of its time, specially for teenagers. 10/10

I can see why they changed their style from this. While I prefer this sludgier sound there is no way they could have charted with hardcore like this. Its to raw and brutal.

Kurt Bailou (Converge's guitarist) produced this album, and the album was released on Jacob Bannon's (the singer of Converge) label Deathwish Inc.

This is kind of interesting, so I thought I'd share. In "Sleep (I've Been Slipping)..." "It's them pills I took to bring it off, she said" is actually a line from T.S. Eliot's poem called "The Waste Land". This is symbolic for getting an abortion. Back in the 1920s, women destroyed themselves just so they couldn't have children (the pills weren't exactly safe). I don't know if it was intentional, but Code Orange is art.

They're literally a beatdown band with grunge and some weird combo of industrial and nu metal on Forever. They felt so much more passionate here.

Can't expect them to stay the same forever. I, however, love Code Orange and their entire discography. They offer many diverse flavors over the course of their releases.

This doesn't go very hard, but that's probably the weak but clean production... this sounds like entry level hardcore kid stuff, for sure though. Not bad.
