The guy playing flute is Jeroen Goosens, he plays a lot of flute instruments, he even played didgeridoo in this Ayreon show. He does collabs with more metal bands. The flute here looks like a recorder but I'm not sure.

Ayreon is quite the rabbit hole to dive into. The music is on par with Nightwish, but this project by Floor's fellow Dutchman Arjen Anthony Lucassen is not one band per se. Arjen is a multi instrumentalist, composer and storyteller that built a universe in the language of sound. He borrows the greatest instrumentalists and vocalists from all over, and gives them a role in a story like none other. This allows him to travel anywhere in the landscape of sound: past, future, other worlds, even the human mind and its landscape of emotion. "The Day That The World Breaks Down" is a good starting point, but getting a good picture of how incredible the story is will take some time. His albums are in my opinion best seen as the greatest sci fi audiobook series ever created. You have amazing discoveries ahead. Relax, and enjoy this bard's epic

Nice choice! This is my fave song and not many reactors react to this masterpiece. Not sure if you knew that Floor & her sister Irene actually did sing this song way back in early 2000s under StarOne with Arjen. If you haven't, you should check it out 😊 Marcela also did a spectacular job with her solo cover on this song. It's in her YT channel 'Marcela Bovio' 😊

Floor also plays Merlin in Merlins Will in this concert and sings with her sister in Eyes of Ra and as part of a trio in a couple of other songs. This concert is so much fun! The other atmospheric highlight from this show though for me was And the Druids Turn to Stone Damian Wilson sings it so well :D

Anneke's harmonies are always gorgeous. Somewhere is a better example of that, but she tends to flip registers when harmonising and it's always stunning.

Ayreon also regularly features Floor's sister Irene. Their upcoming new album "Transitus" is narrated by former Doctor Who Tom Baker, and the other big surprise is that Joe Satriani is on it! 🤘

Hi Tauri. There is something to be said about a song that just plain and simple, is a nice piece of music. I totally agree, they play very very well together. That might be a "recorder" which is a medieval flute. It may not be, I am not sure ? Something awfully nice about this song Really well done and easy to listen to. Here are my favorite Ayreon songs. My House on Mars, Web of Lies, Trauma, Loser, Valley of the Queens, The Sixth Extinction, Listen to the Waves, Comatose. Unfortunately, there are no live versions except for Loser, Trauma, Valley of the Queens. There is a live version of Web of Lies with Floor but the quality is not that great, a lot of background noise. All still worth reacting too, imo.
