Arizona prosecutor Rachel Mitchell says she won’t ship Raad Almansoori, the suspect in a vicious Soho hotel slaying, back to Manhattan due to her view of District Attorney Alvin Bragg's track record with violent criminals, saying that "it's safer to keep him here."

But has he committed a crime in Arizona? Doesn’t the 6th Amendment guarantee the right of trial in the district where the alleged crime occurred? Does that mean he could walk free on a constitutional argument and just stay in Arizona? Anyone know? Any opinions?

Yes he committed a crime in Arizona. He stabbed two people. He can gget 20 years in Arizona then NY can have him after. Why does NY have to have him first? Why does he want him that bad?

I imagine it’s to avoid any statute of limitations issues that charges are laid immediately which would naturally lead to an extradition request. In fact it seems criminals frequently complete a sentence in one jurisdiction and are immediately rearrested to face other charges. In this case I imagine NY is perfectly happy to let the good folks of AZ look after the guy for a couple of decades as long as they get their chance at some point. Thanks for the info.

Even if he had a bond, it would be up to the judge, not Bragg. His charges are also not eligible for cashless bail. Plus, bail won't prevent his case from going forward.

There's no question about it. Alvin Bragg is a bad person who is 100% cannot be trusted. Did anyone ever remember the incident when Alvin Bragg put an innocent Bodega man in jail for protecting himself from his assaulter and killed him in self-defense? That innocent Bodega man was put in a reputable jail full of the most violent and dangerous criminals. He was released out of prison about 5 days later. He and their family sued Alvin Bragg since September 2023.

She’s playing politics, it’s not her job. Once Manhattan DA feel out the paperwork, it goes to the governor, the governor will transfer extradition paperwork to Arizona for extradition. The DA in Arizona is playing politics and she doesn’t make the laws.

@@CooCooCachooM charges 1st degree or second degree are not eligible for cashless bail in New York. Plus just because someone gets a bail that doesn't mean they can make it. I also haven't seen many people in high profile cases like this with similar charges make bond if they get it or get it period in New York since I'm from NewJersey.

Prosecute her for keeping a violent criminal behind bar? If they send him to NY, the DA will let him out due to the No Cash Bail Law That's why when he was arrested he said that he was wanted for murder in NY because he knew he would be set free. I applaud this DA for standing her ground. Keep him behind bars!
