I have a Finnish 1904 mosin with the AZF and a third Reich stamp on the stock. My guess is Germany would have captured it in ww1, then sent it to Austria- Hungry as an ally. Thoughts?

Probably captured from russians and was stamped, then probably taken when nazi germany annexed austria after ww1 then finland bought it off of nazi germany. That gun has a lot of history

Got a trivial weird one. My receiver date has been ground off and restamped, was that a factory thing for ex dragoons?

Can you make a video on how to fix a rear mosin Nagant barrel band spring? I bought one and there is no rear spring and I don’t know how to repair it

I noticed my 1942 has a stamped M on the stock directly under the left side of the adjustable sight. Does that stand for anything?

What would be your suggestion for my first mosin? The cheapest I can find? I believe the 91/30 are the cheapest here in chicanada

Hey man, as a fellow Canadian there is no really wrong answer. My first Mosin, and first firearm in 2018 was just a run of the mill 1933 Matching Tula refurb. I highly recommend going for a private sale through either gunpost or townpost, as any retailer bringing them in is just asking ungodly prices, for luck of the draw over anything else. The nice thing about Mosins is the number of intricacies with each rifle, and no matter what you pick up you can have a fun time researching everything about the rifle. If you're looking for a shooter there is nothing wrong with a non matching refurbished rifle, just remember there will (generally) be another rifle. Find something you want and are happy with, and at a price you are happy to pay, of course. I always tell myself if I don't get a rifle I inquire about, it just wasn't meant to be. Do keep in mind, anything Finnish demands a very large premium up here due in part to their more limited imports. Best of luck and I hope you find a Mosin that truly speaks to you!
