My Mosin has a hex receiver but, the barrel is stamped "New England Westinghouse" and dated 1915.

The Mosin was created by the french, and then the russians took it over

Great talk. just one thing is that Tokarev seems to shoot a 307/308 projectiles instead of a .311-312 as mosin do. Even they are all "7.62mm". I don't have a nagant revolver, so I can't have any comment on that. But my TT33 surely shoot a 307 projectiles. I am not sure if I m correct or not, just need to find out.

how about those made before both wars? 1908 hexagonal receiver worth more than your WWII issue?

This is as bonkers as those Turkish Lee Enfield to mauser conversions they did in the 30s

Great video. I wonder if there is anyone out there that has an old Mosin 91/30 from dad, uncle, grandpa laying around that they now discover is one of these beauties?

I have a 1937 Russian 91/30 and a 1955 Chinese type 53 carbine the Chinese one is definitely not as high quality as the 91/30 but it’s not horrible but definitely not as nice tooling the receiver looks like crap next too my 1937

Thank you for the advice of cleaning it while it is hot. I know mine is safe to shoot, just not happy looking down the bore. Did not want to shoot it out but think that might be the key. Did not think to take my cleaning kit with me like that. Great idea!

It can be hard to find an original M1891, especially with the Tzarist eagles, as they were ground off many times by users during Russia's civil war-John in Texas

Random question: can a Mosin Nagant explode? If so under what conditions? Like I mean catastrophic failure where the gun exploding could be potentially fatal? I’m curious because I’m a little shy of Mosins for no particular reason, just nervous.

Everyone should have a bullet mold for every gun they shoot and intend to keep, so cast a Tin or Pewter bullet and use that for this as tin will hold it's shape and size better than dead soft lead ball and you can catalog all your gun bores.
