That was his first match as opener.. even though he scored fifty..his strike rate improved tremendously later..he won many matches for India as opener than Azhar won as middle order batsman

The players were absolutely irresponsible and left Azhar stranded. A lot of times Azhar and Jadeja played incredible innings and made games enjoyable and memorable. Few innings of Jadeja I would say because he was not consistent enough.

Sachin and saurav leave only 103balls and they scored only 118runs together. It means they 130runs to be score in 103balls. The slow start by thesee two cost the match. Ganguly career strike rate rate in 71 which is below average as he finished his career in the last decade.

Frankly speaking ours was a weak team.. SouthAfrica came back after 18 years in International cricket and we lost our first match with them and we had all the fuckall excuses with us.. it was only when Sachin played, we used to win.. and we had many bullshit players who were involved in fixing.. shame on them..

South Africa won all the 6 league matches in the Titan Cup tri series in India in 1996 - 3 against India and 3 against Australia..But the SA captain Hansie Cronje and co. threw away the trophy in the final - involving in match fixing - deliberately batted badly losing to India..Shame
