My Doctor prescribed me this antibiotic for my strep throat. This is the first time I got this throat infection really bad! It’s hard for me to swallow food or even water. So he prescribed me to to take two (2) tablets on day one, then to take one (1) tablet by mouth once a day on day 2 through day 5. Thanks God of this meds!

I had a ear infection along with my throat... I took it with food is recommended. You can tell off the bat its strong pill... Thank God for this pill.

It is recommended on an empty stomach for effectiveness, it will still work if you eat but best not to or if your stomach is upset after taking it which it most likely will, eat only a very small snack. No milk. Can eat after 2 hours

I asked my doctor "Hey does this have any side effects I should know about?" He says "You will be fine!" I ask the pharmacist the same thing and gives me the okay. Azithromycin doesn't work that fast, most of the symptoms you experience are due to your your own immune system activity, which wouldn't go away that quickly simply because the bacteria died, since dead bacteria are also immunogenic - what you experienced was most likely placebo or the fact that your body was already curing itself. Most colds are caused by viruses rather than bacteria anyway, meaning it probably wasn't necessary at all, unless you actually got a bacterial infection diagnosis.

I used it for two days(around 12pm) 500 mg each 1hr before food, and the second day night I got serious irregular heart beat issues and got admitted into hospital(recovered now though). I do not have any heart issues before this. I took paracetamol 650mg each day night as well. So be careful using this drug. Do consult your doctor before you using this drug.

It cured me. I took 2 500mg at the same time in a day for 5 days. Someone it cured my gonorrhea. The doctor instruct me to have a shot too but i dont have the money for that so i only rely to this drug.

I'm taking it now for a bad sore throat started on the first dose (2 pills) wasn't hungry ate 2 pieces of bread and damn these pills are killing my stomach. Sorry you guys for the late update but man I celebrated when I took my last pill I got stomach cramps everyday when I took those pills after I took my last pill a day and a half later my sore throat was gone and I was able to eat regularly even though you can try eating a couple minutes before taking the pill or a couple minutes after it doesn't matter you're going to get stomach cramps

I was given 500 mg 6 pills- one pill once a day for 6 days. No loading dose because i had a shot of rocephin. Is this normal? Mycoplasma pneumonia is what its for and the zithro is making me sooo sick. Ive usually always taken only 250 mg 4 thats with a 500mg loading...but these are all 500mg. My belly is sooo messed up even with probiotics. :( Vomiting after eating and cant even hold down water.

That is not a typical dose, however, azithromycin is used at that dose for some serious infections. Taking with food may reduce some of the stomach issues, but some people have difficulty tolerating the higher dose.

More than 10% of patients experience diarrhea, so that makes pretty good sense, your normal flora will just get knocked out, and that paves the way for harmful bacterial overgrowth in the gut, ironically meaning some people require further antibiotic treatment, but probiotics are a really great idea.

Take mucanic tab twice a day for chest issues. Also use accuhaler 25 shots twice daily. If guava trees are available then eat three tender leaves in empty stomach fo seven days, it will relieve you of chest congestion and constipation.

These are taking so long to help me get rid of this step throat. Morr than 24 hours after taking the first 500mg pill and still coughing, burning, aching. Fever does not even go away with ibuprofen 400mg every 8hrs and I am so mad why didn't the doctor prescribe me amoxcycilin instead. Amoxcycilin has ALWAYS done WONDERS for me the first day of dosage. Take into consideration your options for antobiotics if you are in a rush to get better.

Update: turns out I had a virus, not a bacterial infection. This should work well for getting rid of bacteria.

@@kagekun7689 if I remember correctly, I came to the conclusion that it was a virus and not a bacteria. Just let the thing fade away on it’s own. Took around 10-14 days I think?

Hello, I have a nephew who’s 5 with a bad cough after him having a viral infection about two weeks ago that has yet to go away. He’s been given Azithromycin 200 mg Suspension once a day 1st day to take 6ml and the 2nd to 5th day take 3ml once a day. He’s still coughing and mostly at night which I’m wondering would it help him or consult his doctor for something else even if they’d said it take a while for it to go away? Anyone with advice thanks in advance.
