- In less than 5 minutes you'll learn:
- What is Ciprofloxacin ( Cipro )?
- Ciprofloxacin is a Fluoroquinolone antibacterial. Inhibits DNA gyrase, thereby blocking bacterial DNA replication.
- It is available as 250, 500 and 750 mg tablets. And also available as injection, oral suspension, and ophthalmic solution.
- Ciprofloxacin is used for urinary tract infections, chronic bacterial prostatitis, urethral & cervical gonococcal infections, infectious diarrhea, anthrax and plague, typhoid fever, intra-abdominal infections, skin/skin structure infections, acute sinusitis, lower respiratory tract infections,nosocomial pneumonia, typhoid fever, Ophthalmic use: Treatment of corneal ulcers and conjunctivitis due to susceptible organisms.
The usual dosage of Ciprofloxacin for adults is 500-750 mg orally every 12 hours. Or 400 mg IV every 12 hours.
And for children the usual dose is 10mg/kg orally or IV every 12 hours.

There are dozens of antibiotics and antivirals out there; I am allergic to 26 of them! The only valid advice is trial and error, not someone's anorexia or cramping. When using a new medication keep notes to share with your doctor or, in extreme cases, the emergency room. Also avoid when possible the very frequent reuse of a "friendly" medication for fear of building a tolerance to it. Do not follow other people's advice about what medication to use or avoid unless they are your consultant medical caregivers: Joe Blogg can no more predict your side effects than your sister's pregnancy! Side-effects are annoying but if the manufacturer predict your response among 8+% of users, you are probably not dying! Remember, on average you will need this medication for one week. I was just prescribed cipro for a UTI. After reading the booklet of warnings, i called my doc, he reassured me, said he prescribes it every week. 10 day supply and im on day 4. The painful UTI symptoms are GONE and ive had ZERO side effects since day 1. No headaches, no nausea, no tendon pain, nothing. I wouldnt risk taking cipro long term, but for a UTI I feel its quite safe.

I have Epilepsy and I was given 14 tabs of 500 mg, I had to cut them in half due to it making my Seizures worse. It also plays with your anxiety and I call it hell in a bottle.( it also can tear your tendons, which it did mine )

Still suffering from the nasty side effects from cipro almost 10 years after my last pill. Do yourself a favor and research the potentially permanent and horrific side effects of this class of drugs before taking them. I wish I had.

@@acupofcoffee6414 The black box warning labels describing the exact problems that I have. Thousands of other people that have described the exact same terrible side effects. Never having any tendon problems or nerve damage in my life prior to taking this class of drugs. The damage from flouroquinolones is cumulative. Everyone has their own personal threshold. So you might have taken them before and felt fine. I did. It wasn't until my third round that it felt almost like a bomb went off in my body. Never been even close to being the same since.

I had another medication that was still very new, I had to take it though and afterwards I had 4 teeth broken in my mouth in 3 weeks, joint issues(arthritis got so bad I couldn't tie my own shoes, now I just live with that pain). No one knew about the side effects, since it was so new they actually told patients to tell them about any side effects. I had no choice though, because there's no alternative treatment, it cost around 60K for the whole thing(90 tablets) which sounds crazy!😄

Yeah I agree with you,wish I did some research before taking it,my symptoms improved but I couldn't sleep through out the night,I felt like i was going to collapse and die any moment.i had to discontinue right away.I think alot of research has to be made on this drug,because I haven't seen any drug with so many side effects that affects everyone,the comments here are absolutely true,I agree 100%

Yes, and it's encouraged for hydration. coconut milk is non-dairy. However new research shows that Cipro is dangerous for some, even causing permanent nerve damage and muscular damage. Turns out it's very dangerous. That's why i was researching. I'm throwing away my supply now. Dang it.

I got few rashes on 2nd day during the 7 day course of cipro and metronizadole. I did not made an connection and, thought antibiotics needed to complete the course and completed the course even after few rashes on torso. After, that I suffered Raashes that comes and goes for 5, 6 months along with joint pains. Can someone knows what kind of reaction it could be and what effects it will have on internal organs ?

السلام عليكم ورحمه الله وبركاته للامانه ciprofloxacin may be cause urinary ciprofloxacin calculi ,is insoluble at natural and high degre of alkaline ....Ciprofloxacin crystalluria may be induced when alkaline urinary and ph greater than 7.3 and doses greater than 1000mg are administered ,antiacid may be decrease absorption of ciprofloxacin

@@user-gw5hs4sh4tانا اخذت حبة وحدة سيبرفلوكساسين مقاس خمسمية ومعاها خمس حبات فلاجيل ، سببت ليا تنميل وحرقان في اعصابي واطرافي وظهري ..والم اعصاب في جسمي ... انا ليا اربع سنوات حتى خف عني هذا التنميل والحرقان والان رجع وللأسف يخف يومين ويرجع اليوم الثالث اشد من اول ...انا اخذته الاربعاء الماضي واليوم الثلاثاء زادت عليا الاعراض ، للاسف يقولون اعراضه تزيد مع الوقت ...هذا المضاد كارثة .... اذا تعرف علاج لاعراض الاعصاب اللي سببها ممكن تذكرها لو سمحت ....
