The main point is the OEM barrel expansion is more on the fired cases than for custom made barrels. Makes a big difference when reloading 👍🏻

Well articulated. Informative. The information provided was useful in helping me determine whether on not replacing the barrel might be worth it. Thanks for the video.

I have a glock 17. I put a number of internal upgrades in the gun, 1 part at a time, and every time I replaced a single part, In the gun, I would take the gun to range to try it out. In my opinion, the barrel was the #1 improvement thing that made the most difference... I'm just saying. It helped a lot with my accuracy and grouping. It gave me a great deal of confidence with my newfound consistency.

I use KKM barrels for my G20 and G29 simply because 10mm is notorious for case bulging in the factory barrels due to inadequate chamber support, and I also add uprated recoil springs (21lbs+) to handle to full-power loads without beating up the frame as much, but I tend to keep all my other Glocks stock because it's simply not necessary. Any accuracy improvements are negligible at typical combat ranges in my experience, so if you're going to buy one, that shouldn't be a factor unless you're a competitive shooter or just have money to spend and want the best even if you don't have the skills to make use of it. 👍

With all respect sir, without benching the gun it’s as much a test of your shooting ability as it is the barrels. Just a thought.

You can change calibers the same way you explained it with factory barrels. Soft lead is anything less than about 16 or 17 BHM. They are only good for under 800 fps. “Hard cast” is anything over 20 or 21 BHN. What too many people call hard cast are at around 16-20 BHN which are good from around 800-12 or 1300 fps which are the most common cast bullets

Excellent review. I just purchased a stainless steel Lone wolf barrel for my Glock 19. Very excited to be able to fire various kinds of ammo and check out the accuracy, if any. Nice to have extra barrels. Got mine on sale for 2022.(The year . . .not two thousand dollars) Anyway, sure learned a lot about the many options present without having to purchase a whole new weapon.

the wilson is a much higher twist rate and meant for heavier ammo. its not going to do well with 115. it should in theory do better with 147s
@wilmoreridgerunner83852 ай бұрын
I’m by far more accurate with my Wilson barrels. Have one in my 17 and 19 and there is absolutely a huge difference in accuracy compared to the stock barrel. I shoot exclusively federal 147 gr ae9fp and 147 HST’s.

You forgot to mention that shooting cast bullets out of you factory barrel will *VOID* your lifetime warranty. So keep that in mind if something were to happen Glock won't back it up if you've "been" shooting cast bullets!!!

Higher velocitys with polygonal barrels are sheer theory . I have seen some videos where someone shoot both barrel types with the same ammo and the chrono measure the same fps.

To really compare any barrels/loads you've GOT to bench the gun.
@Mmmmmk2476 жыл бұрын
Fully agree
@campsitez23555 жыл бұрын
Um at 70 feet.... he's hitting outside of the scoring ring entirely offhand. This doesn't build any confidence in his ability to bench the gun at all. It would be equally as pointless.

Threw a Storm Lake match barrel in my 10mm G20SF, average groups didn't improve however what did improve was I stopped getting those random fliers that didn't seem to make sense. Figured I would try one since I shot out the factory barrel to the point there was hardly any rifling left in the back half of the factory barrel.
@AZTrigger4 жыл бұрын
Interesting. Just curious: what kind of loads were you shooting? Were any of the non-jacketed rounds when you got those fliers?
@hewlett2604 жыл бұрын
@@AZTrigger the only ammo it ever shot was Underwood or Sig 180 FMJ. But at ~90k round count, things tend to wear out. Storm Lake barrel hasn't thrown a flier out of those two ammo types that I couldn't attribute to me getting excited

I own 10mm but aftermarket barrel you don’t get a glock smile on you brass ! Witch can make a malfunction and the brass useless! But not that big if you shoot 9mm !
@TheGeil85004 жыл бұрын
If you also add an premium guide rod assembly with the new barrel it keeps down the flip and makes it more accurate. The guide rod assembly that comes with glock has a plastic guide rod and is very light.

You going to do a video on the new glock barrel to land and grove . The 10mm is one of the top rounds out their. And I have heard the augrment for aftermarket barrel to stop the glock the glock smile. Now I have never had this happen to a case I shoot . So I that is a real problem.
@greggwonder21996 жыл бұрын
👍Thks. I own a G19 n G20. Bought an Alfa Wolf for the 19(fluted)and for me i do get tighter groups, not bashing the glock bbl. Two dif rifling, u decide. Bought a 40,357 sig,and a 6" 10mm for the g20. Pleased with my decisions. Those 2 guns with the dif barrels gives me alot of diversity.✌🇺🇸🇺🇸

KKM Precision barrel for Glock 20 has a much better supported chamber for shooting reloads. The Glock factory barrel is fine for factory ammunition

If there was an accuracy advantage you would expect maybe 1" better at 25 yards from sandbags. You're not likely to see this offhand at any distance and it would be hard to see from sandbags at shorter distances.

4:37 I am a new gun owner and recently bought a new barrel for my glock and I love the silver contrasts with the black. I bought a double diamond barrel from glock store and I just wanted to know how well it holds up and if I should’ve left it stock? I bought it for the purpose to shoot lead if I ever decided to shoot lead. I typically buy fmj and I believe those don’t have lead. Like I said I’m new to shooting so I’m a novice to everything firearm related.
@alecubudulecu4 жыл бұрын
i'm relatively new shooter too - been on it for about a year now - but wife and I shoot 1-2 times a week so maybe I can answer your questions. 1. FMJ still *usually* has lead... though not always...it's just encased inside the brass/copper shell... which is for the most part what you want to get cleaner ammo and less fouling. 2. no barrel is good for lead fouling. they all foul and you should generally avoid shooting lead if you care about this. 3. that being said - it's not a bad idea to have a "disposable" barrel that you don't mind mucking up - and yes, Double diamond barrels are a bit more tolerant for fouling. 4. what gen you got? gen 5 - while glock still says "don't shoot lead"... has been known to be MUCH more tolerant to fouling. 5. glock barrels - are for the most part - as accurate as you get outside of some crazy expensive alternatives. 6. you can also check out frangible or the plastic tipped ammo which is cleanest... but I personally hate them. I find them oddly inaccurate and weird to shoot - not to mention getting used to shooting them messed up your muscle reflexes as they are INSANELY light casings. 7. as to which to keep... that's gonna be up to you - but it depends on the use of your gun. if it's for self defense - use either one - and practice with it. get used to how the bullets travel - as they will be different and you want to get used to shooting it. ---- if it's for aesthetics (I have a "gucci glock" and a self defense glock) - i'd say use the factory barrel for shooting .... and switch it out to the pretty barrel when you wanna have the gun look nice for the ladies haha. and 8. howdy and welcome! this was the first time I tried to answer a question.... hopefully I was helpful and not annoying in my blabbering on.... welcome to the gun world...as mentioned i'm kinda new too... :)
@alecubudulecu4 жыл бұрын
I also forgot - if you reloading - which I assumed not doing - the third party ones usually have casings support better.

looser chamber in stock barrel ..means better h.p. feeded .. to tight a chamber and a blunt ammo tip is looking for trouble ..

70 feet 23 yards that is the first pin on my bow and arrow and yardage pins go out from there. I know plenty of archery shooters who get better groups from a bow and arrow than you do with your Glock. People who never shoot past 25 yards will never learn what accuracy is.
@greywisker31805 жыл бұрын
No need to shoot past 23/25 yards with a pistol....its a pistol, that's why we have rifles....and bows and arrows Kimosavee.

Strange that your 70 yards grouping with the oremium ammo is worse than the cheap ammo. Also the grouping for 21 yards are not very good. There are many out there who say that they have tighter groups with aftermarked barrels. And I thinks that it have to be true otherwise they wont sell.

You have to take out the human error. You have to do that on a bench with the rest then check your results.

The trial would have been more meaningful if you had been blinded to the type of ammo you were shooting until after the shooting was done.
