I have this heated vest and wore it under a drysuit with no insulation in 49 degree weather, I had to turn it down it got so warm. The venture heat vest is awesome for cold water diving.

Ahhh cool! You are bring back memories. Climbed the steps to Shaw's more often than I care to remember. Riding the surge through the tunnel that connects Shaws to Crescent. Before you get to the crevice is a opening in the wall. The floor (used to be) covered in muscle shells. You need to crawl over a big boulder that hides the entrance. Then a narrow tube empties into Crescent. On our first dive in La Jolla an octopus befriended my wife and latched to her chest for about 20 minutes. Just hanging on for a free ride while tentacles searched face and hands, then dropped into the grass when the dogs (sea lions) showed up. Really great memories of early dives. Thanks for that!!

Appreciate you talking openly about anxiety and nervs. As an advanced OW w/ 65 dives (mostly SE asia, couple live aboards), I had my first bad dive in Cabo Pulmo and then shortly after again in La Paz last year. Hoping to work through that and join one of your dive expeditions! Socorro and Komodo are both on my bucket list!! And dang really appreciating your underwater shots on the past few vids! Wow, that purple nudibranch 🤩

La Jolla is a fun dive spot! You got lucky with the sharks. I dove that spot 6 times last year and didn't see one shark. Saw lots of sea lions. Hope to get back out there this year.

Wow last time I dove Shaws the waves were up and the tide was high. Water right at the bottom of the stairs. That’s some low tide.

If you ever decide to come East, we have one of the best dive locations in the Midwest. Gilboa Quarry in Ohio.

Hey, it’s just like Monterey - and my most recent weekend of diving, the surge handed out an ass kicking on a plate. And yea, I’ve been drinking electrolytes before a dive, it does make a difference(and going half-caff with my pre-dive coffee, as well as taking my ADHD meds per DAN’s advice).

I thought you were going to get sea lions checking you out in La Jolla... I guess they are not always there...
