It's wrong to say it's originated from Singapore. But it's true that Singapore Hainanese chicken rice is generally better than Msia in recent years. The best Chicken I have eaten is from Segamat 45 years ago where they have the unique chicken intestine which is so crunchy and tasty and it was serve proportioned to the chicken you order, he won't sell the chicken intestine alone no matter how much you offer, it must goes with chicken to make sure everyone who order the chicken got some share of chicken intestine. After this stall was torn down for rebuilding, we can't find any similar chicken intestine with chicken rice any more in Singapore Malaysia or overseas. Malaysia hawker food quality and taste had dropped significantly over the past 20 years as Malaysian were too price sensitive and the seller has to cut cost to be in business and worse and worse quality rice was used, most even use foreign workers to cook by adding coloring instead of chicken oil/ soup to cook and most chicken us overcooked, and most Malaysian switch to the deep fried chicken which has no tenderness at all. It's sad to see the dead of Hainanese chicken rice in Malaysia.
