www.vladtv.com - "Real Muthaphuckkin G's" rapper B.G. Knocc Out spoke to VladTV about growing up in Compton and the gang culture, which he said wasn't bad until he was a teenager. The West Coast emcee explained that gangs were more familial during his younger years, and he added that things got progressively more violent as the years went on.
After revealing his affiliation to the Crips, B.G. spoke about his involvement with the gang, which led to him opening up about a 10-year bid he got for attempted murder.
Speaking on the situation, the "50/50 Luv" emcee explained that he went on a retaliation shooting after a friend was shot, and instead of firing back, the people on the block came back with police. After realizing he was facing 17 years to life sentence, B.G. Knocc Out thought it was better to take the plea deal for 10 years, which he completed when he was 34, which you can hear more about in the above clip.

California laws are different. You get more time just for being a documented gang member. They have so many bullshit laws and enhancements out here. Remember this is where the 3 strikes law was created. I did time with people doing life and their 3rd strike wasn't even a felony

As a LA native I’ll just say that Compton was not famous for gangs. There were hundreds of gangs back in the day. Compton was not a famous one. Gangs like rollin 60s...and 18st were the gangs people talked about. Every hood had a gang. Maybe even a black gang plus a Mexican gang. Like Venice shore line crips and V13. I been a graffiti writer and b-boy since 83 and me and my crew peeped all Graf....hip hop and gang...Compton never came up. First time I ever went there was to see Dre at a studio and I remember going “why the fuck are we out here in the middle of this industrial area?”. Compton is a ways from the city. I knew where Dre was from. He lived in the city. He dj’d at the clubs I went to since I was 14. I figured he used a Compton studio because it was cheap cause it sure as hell wasnt convenient for anybody.
