I am puzzled how a leader who speaks in this great tone of image recouping, would make sure that Ethiopia, the country he led, would be landlocked!?

It was not him. It was the truth, Ethiopia has never owned the ports. Besides, Shae biya was the one who brought Meles to power. So, once and for all please understand history. When Eritrea forced to became part of Ethiopia, you owned the ports. Your king, Haileselassie said " I do not need the People of Eritrea only the ports or the land" wake up and try to see the truth. Meles declared war in 1998 to invade Assab and did his best, but as Bacha Debele said Techefechefachu. Listen to professor Hizqel Gabisa's interview with stalen. you will listen the truth. Meles was the one who sold lands for Sudan. Have you thought about it?

Whatever, if there was a will or wisdom, Ethiopia could have successfully negotiated an outlet to the sea as a condition to accept Eritrea’s referendum and its outcome

@@teralewlijie2267 Actually Ethiopia had the right to freely use both ports until 1998. You didn’t know that ? Then your genius leader decided NOT TO USE IT!! He preferred to pay billions of US $ to Djibouti instead !! You are lead by MORONS from time immemorial 😊

Others previously had sold the access there was and and in the course of history both Djibouti and Eritrea declared for independence and that should be respected. Sovereignty. Working with Djibouti port was great but I guess we’re greedy and that bright distraction. There’s so much to learn from than to criticise the outstanding Meles Zenawi
The most intelligent leader of Ethiopia honestly though he uses it for bad most and some good , the ethnic division conflict and war which get worse, landlocked overpopulated nation , dictatorship at most are some of his legacy in the mean time improving the living standard of his people to some extent , shaming the countries mortal enemy like Egypt who armed the nations enemy always with wrong calculation by building dam in Nile , any ways rest in peace dear.
