These are very good speakers, I have them a couple of years now. I know the supertweeters have an impedance of 16 Ohms, but if you measure them they should be around 23 Ohms if they are ok. The capacitors are indeed polycarbs and not need to be replaced.. Supertweeters are still available at Falcon UK , but rather expensive, found me replacements secondhand. Regards, Ben.

I had a pair of these in the 90’s, bought for a tenner from a car boot sale and they were amazingly good for their age. However, I am an idiot and sold them to a mate for a tenner.

I found a pair of these in the trash, the speakers play well for untrained ears. only think that is wrong is surface level damage on the case, some of the veneer has been chipped and scratches.

Put it down to a bad experience and you and others learn from it I dare say one speaker went for a very big tumble to knock the magnet out of alignment, break a tweeter and blow out the back You my recoup your purchase price from remaining parts I was looking at a pair of DM4's before getttng the Rogers LS8a's DM4's are very well regarded A shame as these are iconic 70's speakers

Did you take out the bolt holding the motor on the seized one? Boggles my thinker how people treat their speakers.

Interesting as always and am liking the 'test twice- chuck once' approach . Shame about these speakers. I have a general query: I have a birch drumkit that is supposed to be low resonance. Would birch be best for cabinets?

Birch have always being a choice for speaker cabinet making especially thick baltic one (quality and thikness always matter). Just don't get confused with the one used on your dumkit. It is there to resonate in one fundamental frequency which gives the pit its characteristic sound. Keep adding layers to that pit and soon your fundamental tuning frequency will be gone. That's however what you want, when making speaker cabinets. A baffle that will amplify the sounds reproduced by the speakers almost equally without coloration. Hope that helps!
