This is easily the coolest g shock I've seen. I like bold watches but I don't wear bright colored watches. This stands out like crazy yet it's still low key in a weird way. SO COOL👍👍👍

This is seriously cool and I'll tell you why. Bitcoin, Blockchain and Cryptocurrency. This watch will be worth an absolute fortune in 10 years time. A truly iconic design, perfectly executed that's kind of way before its time without fully appreciating it, itself. I've ordered one. Superb. Original. It's perfect.

I've been wearing this piece for five days and I have to say, it definitely looks different in person. The studio lights seem to make the grid lines very bright (high contrast) but out in the field I think they are a bit more subdued. It's hard to describe the look so I would recommend taking a peek at it in person if it's possible. One thing is for sure, this piece is definitely unique and I love the way it looks on my wrist.

Rob, I still say you should of kept the aged I.P. square in the collection - the prices have gone through the roof on it and still think out of all of these squares it’s the best one...I agree with you for us square nuts these prices make sense!!!

I actually just bought a G-5600E 3 days ago and it should be here tomorrow. I chose it as my first square as I honestly got analysis paralysis with the selection of 5600s out there; the more I look at the cooler/special/limited squares, the more I appreciate the plain-jane classic design ones. Well, that and it has the same dimensions as the GLX and M5610 models so it works with my girly wrists... I know for sure that down the line I'll be getting a GW-5000 and whatever limited 5000 they'll have for the 40th anniv. but as for the watch collecting hobby, I don't think I'll be Rolex™ level for at least 5 years... I simply have too many other hobbies I can splurge on...

I just got back from my A.D. where they had this model in stock. My interest was piqued after watching this video but after seeing it in person I fell in love and brought it home. It's hard to explain but the light just dances off this thing. There are times where it looks black and other times where it appears graphite (like shiny pencil lead) or even silver/chrome. It's an odd but beautiful finish. Thanks for the video!

One of the coolest versions. Would be even cooler if Casio made another and one up themselves here with the grid etching being lumed filled.. can see them doing another limited edition for a couple hundred more for the extra lumed version.. idk, too hard to do?.. I do believe they can probably do it if they wanted and charge more accordingly.. can see it being around $1k range IF they ever did it.

Having been a serial watch buyer and flipper for years ( mainly Omegas, IWC etc ) I bought my first G shock a few days ago (the full metal gold) Thinking of buying this one next i love the gold so much !!

A lot of great watches have high price tags. G-Shocks are great watches and I don't see any issue with the pricing. Especially if you consider what this watch offers. Tons of other affordable square options out there as well.

Looks weird strange odd 🤔 can’t decide if I love it or hate it. All the steel squares are lacking something for me. Probably a sapphire crystal considering the price of them and the fact it’s not that expensive to make a sapphire crystal. I like the positive titanium but it’s just a silly price. Really silly price!

@9:21 I take issue with the statement that the Bluetooth time sync is "more accurate" to true time than the radio-signal time sync. The Bluetooth watches are set via your telephone, which receives the time over its network connection using NTP (this is the default setting on modern Android phones). NTP is great but it is not perfect, and in fact there is a superior PTP that is not supported on most networks. NTP requires a network connection to be set, and so it relies on you having an internet connection. Network latency and congestion effects the accuracy of NTP. NTP tries to account for these issues, but does not do so well with asymmetric latency (which is ubiquitous on cellphone network connections). Because of this, the time on your phone is not perfectly accurate to "true time". Additionally, you have to deal with whatever issues are present with the process of syncing the time from your phone to the watch via Bluetooth. I am not aware of any NTP or PTP over Bluetooth implementation, and I doubt that Casio built one from scratch. What is more likely in my mind is that they took the path of least effort and just send a message from your phone to the watch that says "here's the current time". This means that the time on your watchface is being effected by any deficiencies in your phone creating this bluetooth message, connecting to your watch, sending it, and the watch reading the message. This time delay is likely negligible because we live in the future and computers are fast, but it is still technically present. On the other hand (other wrist?), the time signal coming out of NIST in Fort Collins keeps time by watching atomic decay, and occasionally sets itself to time calculated from the GPS satellites, which is generally considered to be the standard source of time. The atomic decay is like the oscillating crystal in your watch, and the GPS satellites provide the regular updates similar to what you are getting from Bluetooth. The reason for this is that due to differences in elevation and local gravity, the atomic clocks around the world start to drift a little bit. The GPS satellites don't drift (they do but we figured out how much they drift and we calculate the correct time from that). Your wristwatch receiving a signal directly from the NIST base in CO means that it is effectively a Stratum 0 clock according to the NTP RFC, and is cutting out almost every middleman possible. Your radio-controlled watch is more accurate than your phone. Yes, your bluetooth-controlled watches are all in lockstep. This is because they are set more frequently. Over the course of a day, slight differences in battery level and crystal quality will cause identical digital watches to drift slightly. Your BT watches are more accurate to your phone, but they are not more accurate to "true time". There is occasionally talk of shutting down the NIST time signal and it breaks my heart to think that someday it will no longer broadcast the current time to the continental USA. Instead of moving to a standard of bluetooth timesetting, which suffers from the above-listed problems, I wish that Casio would implement their own GPS timesetting functionality to mimic the atomic clocks that are sending out these signals all over the world. This would be more reliable and more accurate than either of the current methods. You just have to listen to some information from a couple of GPS satellites (Casio watches already have this ability) and then do some math (Casio engineers are good at math). At this point you don't need to have Bluetooth or a special radio receiver, which saves money as well. With concern for the ability of the watch to continue keeping time in an apocalyptic scenario (one of the major draws, at least for me, to my daily driver GW-M5610), cell networks will go down first, then NIST will eventually go down, and the GPS satellites will keep operating for long enough that I will be dead before I can no longer receive time from them. Sadly, I don't think that Casio listens to random dudes in KZfaq comments (despite the fact that it is a really good idea and will save them money). Someday if the NIST signal shuts down, I may have to build my own GPS-calculating time-keeping station that sends out an identical radio signal to set the time on my G-Shock. To any FCC agents reading this, I'll make sure that it doesn't broadcast past the edge of my property.

I would love to see how Casio actually does this in the factory.

Looking at it first I was like it’s ugly but the more you look at it the more cool it looks .... but the price $800 god that’s ridiculous ... that’s your rent .... that’s a coupl days in a hotel .... that’s .. a gun ... expensive pistol A RIFLE EVEN nice watch 100% but $800 to blow on that and it doesn’t even have a hollow gram projector to it not worth it in my opinion but great video you like what you like and it’s your money do what makes you happy don’t go off of others opinions!

I just don’t get the Casio square digital watch craze, be it g-shock or not. In my early days they were alll plastic cheapies. They still look that way to me. Plus I learned to read time before digital became popular, and it just isn’t natural to me. Saying 2 45 instead of a quarter till three takes me a bit to decipher! Old-timers syndrome I guess? Rewatching this b/c on amazon, its $619. which is low for this Casio GMWB5000CS-1cr. Love this design in looks and on paper, but I think I'l feel funny about wearing it (but not the gold blingmaster!) and I don't know why. It seems like such a good artistic g-shock metal design. Maybe if casio made the GRID lines DARKER-like grey-instead of white.

Will be interesting to see how it holds up durability wise?

The pushers were kind of stiff and sticky on mine when I unboxed it, it took couple of days until they started feeling normal, it was a bit frustrating. Since this was my first IP coated one I'm thinking that coating could have caused this, I wonder if anyone had the same experience!

My devices clocks have a delay of 11.6 seconds slow to atomic time so I don't believe Bluetooth updates keep in sync compared to the RF update. Yes or no ?

general question about metal squares: do yours have visible differences in width among the non-tapering links? on mine i measure up to 0.3mm in the most extreme case, and they do not all appear to be completely straight on the sides either. it did bother me quite a lot after i noticed it and i arranged the links in a 'tapering' order do kinda counter that.

I would not call this a "Tron" model. The design is more similar to wireframe used in 3D modeling programs. If anything, it's the "Wireframe" watch. The price that these go for is too much. As I've said before, Casio overestimates their worth. For the price of one of these I could buy a fully functioning new PC that I can use for web browsing, word processing, email, video, music, and maybe even some gaming, yet these watches only have functionality or hardware similar to a basic calculator.
