In case somebody is doing this remember to take a look to the user guide of your laptop, For this laptop the manual suggest turn off the built in battery in the UEFI BIOS, replace the SSD and then connect your computer again to the power and power on.

"Workstation" that has only 1 M.2 slot. Great work Lenovo.

Solid work man. It's just unfortunate that it only has one M2 slot, I've been thinking about upgrading my old x1 extreme to the P1 gen 6, however this feature just turn me away

Thanks for watching the video! and yes it's a bit of a bummer not having that extra m.2 slot.

Hello, Excellent opinion. Can you please share the battery life performance with medium load. How many hour it could run on medium load such as web browsing. and video playing parallel.?

Thanks! I'd say I am getting around 6 hours of screen on time with the laptop unplugged. I am not quite able to make it to a full day but also keep in mind I keep my laptop charged up to 80% only to conserve the battery cycles.

Have you edited 4K video using Adobe Premier with your 4080 GPU? If so, how do you find it? I’m considering similar specs but not sure if it’s worth the $ going for the 4090. Thank you!
@B4YBTech
@B4YBTech 5 ай бұрын
Yes the 4080 is excellent with Premiere. I render all my videos in 4K with Premiere. I’d say the 4080 might be a better deal unless you find that the difference between the 4080 and 4090 model is negligible

Keep 'em coming. man, I'm still trying to figure out if I want one. How is the thermal behaviour in desktop mode? This currently annoys me most about my X1E2 compared to my M1 Air - the warm palms and wrists while the fan blows while I am doing my (admittedly intense) desktop multitasking - so a bunch of browsers, the office suite, MS Teams, Slack, PDFs, spreadsheets, the whole shebang.

Thermals are good, the only time they really become a concern is when I am either playing games or running a program that is intensive for the CPU. other than that for everyday use I haven't had an issue with overheating.
@GreenStorm01
@GreenStorm01 10 ай бұрын
@@B4YBTech No concern is good - how is the comfort level though? Palms still on the palmrest, or is that already uncomfortable?
@B4YBTech
@B4YBTech 10 ай бұрын
@@GreenStorm01 I don't get any head on the palmrest or even on the keyboard when I am using the laptop like normal (browsing, general use) even when I game , most of the heat is coming from the exhaust near the lid. There is heat coming from the upper deck which is to be expected when running intensive tasks. When I use it normally I don't feel any heat.

Buy it! It's nearly an identical chassis to the X1 Extreme Gen 2. I love my EG2, but it's not meeting my needs right now. I'm really impressed by the ability to pack in so much more horsepower into a 95% identical chassis and get better thermals. It's a few kgs heavier and maybe 3mm longer on the palm rest section. The liquid metal is the real winner here with the heat piping and fan layout. My configuration is 32gb DDR5, i7 13800H, 1TB SSD, and RTX 4080 12GB.

Thx for the videos, I am currenty deciding between waiting for the just announced Legion Pro 9 with Mini-LED screen and RTX 4090 or this Thinkpad P1 with RTX 4090. Need a powerful device for 3D rendering. The legion is more powerful because of higher power limits and better thermals, but the Thinkpad ist simply a Thinkpad. Nothing beets this classic design and slim/light design for meetings and during traveling…

Thanks for checking out the video Fabian! and yes, the Legion Pro is going to be more powerful. I think it comes down to what you value more? Performance while sacrificing portability or sacrificing performance for a laptop that is thinner and lighter.

I have both. Legion 7i Pro 2023 model (with 13900HX CPU and RTX 4080 GPU) and a gen6 P1 with RTX 2000 Ada which will be delivered tomorrow. The Legion is a desktop replacement and super powerful, but I also wanted something slimmer and lighter that's easy to carry around with me. I avoid mini-LED or OLED panels on my laptops, they reduce battery life too much, even on my 14-inch MacBook Pro. The high refresh IPS display Lenovo offers is excellent, bright and sharp, with a useful 16:10 2560x1600 resolution, and you may automatically switch it down to 60 Hz refresh rate when running on battery power using a setting in the Vantage tool. That's the one I went for as it suits my preferences. I do have an ultrawide Alienware QD-OLED monitor that I can connect externally, if I want to play games.

@@little_fluffy_clouds Thanks for the input! I haven't found the option to automatically switch it down to 60hz. The Lenovo Vantage app on the ThinkPad is the "commercial version and definately has less options vs the regular Lenovo Vantage app that I found on my Legion laptop.

@@B4YBTech my P1 gen6 came with the Commercial Vantage tool too, but I used the Windows Store to install the regular Vantage app, instead. I prefer the features offered with the regular Vantage app. Unfortunately, the auto screen refresh rate change when you plug the mains connection in or out only seems to be made available on my Legion in a recent Vantage software update. Could not find the same option on my P1, which is a shame. Maybe a future software update will add that, but I’m not sure

Love the 2560x1600 resolution, but curious if on a relatively small 16" screen this resolution can be used without scaling?

You can use it without scaling but the text becomes a little too small for me to read. I currently have it scaled to 125%

I use a p1 gen 4 at 2560x1600 daily with no scaling. Rarely I've actually used the 4k natively, that's a bit too small, but 2560 on a 16" is my preferred performance.
