B9 S4 - Racingline Catch Can Install - Goodbye PCV Issues!!
Welcome back to the channel everyone and another install. I’ve teamed up with RacingLine on this one and installed they’re beautiful PCV delete and catch can system. As you’ll see in the video, this was a very well thought out solution to a common problem with our cars. The amount of failed PCV systems that I’ve seen is pretty crazy, and I’m like 99% sure mine was bad so I decided to just get rid of it.
After driving the car on and off for a week, I swear that I notice a difference. The car feels stronger if that makes any sense. I’ve never been certain that my PCV had failed, but after driving it with this kit on I feel a definite change.
Where do I go from here? I know I need to get out and enjoy the car more. I want to do some filming of me driving the car, get the drone up and maybe get some cinematic shorts done. Do I go bigger turbo? I still want the car to be reliable and not have to worry about blowing it up. I could go hybrid turbo on pump gas and leave it at that. Let me know what your opinions are. I do still want to do 034 front control arms to correct the camber when I air out. This car sucks the wheels in when I air out and it looks goofy.

Just did this install a few weeks back. Absolutely love it. Much better than continuous fails by the factory junk. Worth the money considering Audi will attempt to charge $1k for $200 in failing plastic. Good content man! Keep it up.

Merc racing has a Pcv relocation kit for 3.0t platform. It can be serviced without having to remove supercharger and all the other top half parts

So now your crank case isn't under vacuum anymore which keeps the piston rings from sealing properly. Now you'll start burning (more) oil. Further explanation last week from 034 (who is a RacingLine partner) - kzfaq.info/get/bejne/braqi62C0t2Uc5c.html

This is exactly the question I was going to ask, without that little vacuum actuated check valve, something is obviously not functioning right. Thanks for the intel.

Looks like a sweet kit. My only issue with it is with the post throttle body port capped off the crank case isn’t under vacuum, only when engine is under boost. May not seem like much at idle but coming down from 6k+ rpm after a pull while throttle is closed i see the possibility of an issue. My engine didn’t sound too good with the same port capped off. Just a though Oem system crankcase is under heavy vacuum with the throttle both open and closed

Everything seems to sound and run ok post install. The car even feels strong in my opinion. Hopefully there aren’t any future issues with capping that port off.

Thank you for sharing this video, just have one question, Do I need this catch an if I don't flast any stage for ECU or TCU?

No problem. For a catch can you do not need a tune.

From everything I have seen and read, these catch cans arent actually catching anything because the Audi system has baffles. But the oil trap/pcv looks very nice.

Agreed, I rarely have anything in the can. Maybe a little bit but not much at all.

Will this catch can kit also work for a B9 RS5? I did notice an issue with one of the fittings for my PCV hoses, so I am intrigued.

Oh you know I can’t say for sure, but if everything is roughly in the same spot I don’t see why it wouldn’t.

I've heard of issues in cold weather from catch cans. I live in MA and it gets cold here. Is there a concearn with this? I have a mityvac oil extractor I would use in diptick hole to empty. Cut the dipstick shorter to be able to remove with a 034 brace above. I do oil changes through my dipstick port so this would be great.

Yea there is definitely a concern with colder temps. Potentially if there is any condensation in the lines/tank it could freeze. You’d have to make sure to keep it empty.

Weird question - my car now has a check engine light with codes: p5c36 and p7aab. When I looked under the hood the oil gap had oil all around it. Anyone know if those codes are for this failed part? Ty!!

I can’t say for certain, but it sounds like that could be the culprit. Most likely the codes are related to a vacuum/boost leak if I had to guess.

Looks sick! But do u really have to take it apart just to drain it?! Hope it doesn't fill up quickly so u don't have to take it apart too often. But then if it doesn't fill up often, is it really doing much? Hmmm.

Yea it seems that way. I think it comes down to how often you drive and where you live/your climate. Definitely an annoyance, but it is very easy to remove from the car.

That's cool if it's easy to remove to dump it out. I looked up that piece on ECS & it was like $900. Ugh! Have you had probs with ur stock pcv unit? I also have a b9 s4 & im curious. How would you know if there is a prob?

@@CHRIS-qm7ke it’s definitely an expensive piece. But a replacement OEM PCV is up there too. I’m fairly sure my PCV was bad because I was getting some oil leaking from the rear main seal. Now I can’t prove that caused it, but I have a good feeling that’s what was doing it. I’ll see if there’s a way I can look at my PCV to tell if it was actually bad. I swear the car is running better now though. Feels smoother, esp at idle.

@@Wobblenuts prob too late of a reply but you can check to see if the factory pcv failed by removing it and then blowing through the shorter hose and if there is no restriction it failed. just worked on one of these ea839's

Please do I’m stage 3 and going through the infamous pcv problem so just looking for more information on this product and can’t find. Anyone using it

@@claudiasanchez1809 ohh so stage 3 I believe it was 034 that recommends not running one of these. Anything over 30psi I believe was the threshold. Last I heard they were developing one, but it’s been months since I’ve heard any updates.

Any updates after installing this catch can? Is it catching oil? Are you having issues with blue smoke out of the exhaust while just cruising?? Been reading online where some guys say they are having issues with blue smoke under part throttle. Love to hear your feedback. Thanks

So I really haven’t gotten too much oil in it. Everything seems to be good, but I also don’t drive the car all that much. So kind of hard to say to be honest. I’ll have to look into this though for sure.

@@eduardoponcedeleon7753 not that I’m aware of. You’re talking about the plastic block off? Double check the o-ring that is on the block off properly and be sure to clip it in straight when you do it.

I need help I have a 2019 audi s4 b9 and everytime i’m done driving it and get out the car, i can feel the heat radiating from the engine and under the fender. I have a cts front mount intercooler and tuned on IE STAGE 1 ecu and tcu. I have no idea what the problem is and my car feels sluggish

Is it running ok? Temps are all staying normal on the gauge? The S4 definitely produces some heat while driving, but feeling sluggish would be a concern.

@@andytran-ry7yc that is odd, I felt an immediate noticeable different when going Stg1. I would maybe reach out to IE and see if they can help you get some data logs going and sent over to them.

A catch can is never a bad idea no matter the mods. Plus the PCV fails even on stock cars. Something to keep in mind.

Seems like you know a lotttt. QUESTION- Where the heck is the n80 valve located??? Easy replacement to do at home?? I was quoted sooo much $!! Also, what about the NVLD? Easy fix?

Alright so the N80 is most likely somewhere near the intake/throttle body. I’d have to do some digging to be sure. Which would make sense if they quoted you a lot because everything is buried on these cars. The NVLD is likely near the charcoal canister at the rear of the car. This is an emissions part though and could be covered under warranty potentially.

@@Wobblenuts thanks for your info man! Yeahh extended warranty I got through Penske/Audi said n80 and nvld is not covered which makes no sense since there have been recalls on n80. I was informed emissions parts are not covered??

@@Adubs808 How many miles on the car? Typically the factory emissions warranty would cover that stuff as they are usually longer that the standard warranties.

Agreed, but if you have to replace the pcv a few times you’re spending the same money haha. That was my rational behind it.

It is a pcv delete, but I’m not sure on the second question. My car is stg2 and I believe only pushed out like 25 psi.

Unfortunately that seems to be the only way to do it. There was someone who drilled and installed a fitting on the bottom of theirs. I suppose depending on your climate and how much you drive will determine how often it has to be drained.

@@Wobblenuts Yeah, would have to figure something out. The dip stick is useless with a strut brace installed. Sweet setup otherwise.

I haven't seen any drips or anything, and as far as I can tell it all looks dry. Soooo at this point idk what the heck was going on, and Audi didn't care enough to really look into it.

@@Wobblenuts take a look around your Oil Filter lower housing. I think mine is leaking slowly. I bought new seals.
