I worked at a Pizza Hut for a few months in 1993, and the Big Foot Pizza was extremely popular. I'm sure there were profit margin concerns with it or something. Special pans were needed, and the damn things took up space in the rolling oven where you could fit 3 to 4 regular pizzas (so it slowed the line down considerably). But they definitely weren't discontinued for lack of people buying them.

Some Arby’s are great and some just plain suck!!! The one near where I live is a waste of time - the lobby hasn’t been open since before Covid (can’t seem to get people to work I’m guessing) and I had doing the drive-thru as the people either talk so loud you can’t understand them or talk so soft you can’t understand them and just hope you get the food you ordered. We were in Aurora, CO for Christmas and the Arby’s there was fantastic. I had their 4-piece chicken tenders several times and they were great. Come to find out that our local store doesn’t have these - just the same crappy 9-piece. I’ve been a customer just about from the very beginning more years than I can count - I think it’s the franchisee and people they try to hire that either make or break the place.

I worked at one in 1993, and I agree that the Bigfoot was super popular. My assumption is that the profit margins from it were terrible... those long-ass pans slowed down cooking times for everything else. Pop Quiz, fellow Hut-sufferer... do you still remember how many pepperoni were on a medium pepperoni pizza? Nearly 30 years later, and it's still emblazoned in my memory.

@@kurtpunchesthings2411 Actually, the cooking aspect they had down to a science. Don't remember ever having one returned for cooking issues. I did, too. I forgot what a pain in the ass topping those things was. My guess is that they were discontinued due to profit margins, because they were popular as hell. But they would slow the line down to a crawl because if you had one or two of those in the oven, it couldn't be used for anything else. Never mind how much time it took for us peons to make them. @@kurtpunchesthings2411 Of course, but not in this case. If it were a stationary oven, I'd agree. But these were a large version of those "toasters" you see in hotels (with the rolling conveyer belt), so the pizzas were cooked well each time.

Here in Canada I think competing with McDonald's breakfast is A&W. I only worked there briefly and the breakfast sandwiches would fly out (Bacon n Egger or Ham n Egger). The XL New Yorker from Papa John's was really good, we had that quite a bit but then about the time that item was discontinued due to its low profit margin the sauce from Papa John's went from a old Domino's sauce sweet to a sugar/honey sweet that was nasty.
