I dont want to sound like a hater but lucky already knows what water is and how to bathe in it and you kept putting it in the water but it didnt want to go in it, plus to teach a bird to fly you dont just through it in the air like its a ball or something, but you did help it so thanks.

Eliza Corazza usually a bird learns those skills from watching parents... or other birds. And if you look it up, you actually do have to “show” a bird how to fly when it has no parent figures around to learn from.

That was hard to watch. 😢

I don’t doubt that you are animal lovers. But at the same time I feel there is too much forcefulness for this bird: from feeding to flying to bathing.

You did an amazing job at raising him!!!! I love how the song matches the video... You know.. you learn to love the bird then it leaves and all you have left is photographs (I think that's what the songs about lol) well, I hope this bird was rescued rather then taken from his nest. I hope he lives a happy life anyway!

Today I rescued a baby robin, sadly my mum called the rspsc and a few hours ago he got took away by them :( he was called mr tweety and he let us pick him up and stroke him ❤️. He had a broken wing but he was pretty happy and we made a nature habitat for him and he used his water as a bath haha . But he struggled to stand and he kept falling on his face 😭that's how we found him (he was waddling along our garden and we heard him tweeting whenever he fell over 😞)

I raised a bird just like this one, I named her "Sweet Pea". She lived for over a month and she was, too, a baby that didn't eat from her mother, so she looked to me as her mother. I was heart broken when she suddenly died in my hands. She was able to fly and came back to me each time I set her free, so I decided to keep her. Can you, please, tell me that if I had kept her, provided she lived, could she have survived in captivity? I've heard that no wild bird will survive for long, but also that if you keep them for too long, they won't be able to survive in the wild because they will be "domesticated". Also, my friend just rescued a finch that has a broken wing. Do you have any suggestions on how she can keep it alive and what she can do with the wing or will she just leave it alone and it'll heal on its' own? She said she's "young", but don't know how young. She's feeding her bird seed now. It's also getting close to time for birds to fly south for the Winter...is that a problem or will finches not fly south? We're in Central Arkansas. Thank you for your help!
@animallover55067 жыл бұрын
Those are some really tough questions... Unfortunately I don't know if it would have survived domesticated but with the proper exercise and diet it very well might have. The question is... Would it have been happy? As for the finch the wing will probably just have to heal on its own. I'm unsure if finches fly south for the winter but tell your friend that I wish her best of luck!
@debbiebulthuis78387 жыл бұрын
I have always wondered if it was true about domestication being a deadly thing. She seemed like a very happy bird, and that, I believe was b/c I loved her to pieces and she thought I was "mom", in that I always did stuff with her including letting her fly around the house and in our wooded trails, practiced her catching her mealworms in mid-air (she got pretty good at that!) and just perching her on my finger and talking to her. She chirped a lot, in a happy way. I still hurt b/c of her death. Thank you for your timely response. I will forward this to her :)

Sweet post. I'm raising one now and I'm terrified of letting him roam outside because I think his instincts might kick in and he'll run and hide from me and be impossible to retrieve. What kind of bird was yours? Mine looks similar but has a different beak.

Mine was a catbird. When he got older and flying and finding some food on his own, I put him outside for the night and he was fine the next day. I did it again a few days later and he never came back. I found his body four days later. The whole thing ended up as a sad experience for me and I later learned that it has a low success rate. There are things you can do, like getting a bird puppet to use while feeding so the bird can integrate with other birds, but I didn't know that. It's been a year and it still hurts.
@animallover55066 жыл бұрын
Bill Fish i am so so sorry to hear that. I was lucky enough for my bird to survive for at least a few months because we would see him flying around healthily for a long time after we released him, but I'm am truly sorry that your experience did not end as well. You should be very proud for trying to help though.

was he weaned when you Let him go? If still handfeeding he would not survive. He should of known how to forage and eat first. I used to raise the baby sparrows that came into the vet clinic that I worked at. I was always worried that being so tame they would of flown to anyone. I am sure you knew what you were doing.
