Ok, so for you and anyone else struggling with this, I just learned how to stop this from SquatUniversity here on KZfaq! Start your workout with the McGill Big 3 ab workouts. Takes like a minute but activates your core. Then, when lifting, brace your core. That does NOT mean sucking in your gut! It means take a deep breath that expands your stomach, then tighten your abs to where they press outward. This keeps your lower back stable during your lifts to prevent pain and actually strengthen your back!

@EgoPlacebo9 ай бұрын
This tip may help; when you're going down, point your toes a little outward, bend your knees and also push them outwards (away from each other, over your toes), when you come up, push your knees & thighs back together. That encourages use of your glutes. Try not to hinge at the hips too much. I've been working on this for my knees, rather than back, but I think it has been helping my back as a bonus lol
@rebeccahicks23925 ай бұрын
Your confusion is because the phrase is misleading. Lifting ALWAYS involves the back. That's why deadlifts is one of the best exercises to strengthen the back. What people really mean is bend at the hips and knees.
