Nice vid, man. The 3.0 duramax is a beast of a diesel for half ton needs. I suspect the LZ0 is even better. Honestly, I can't think of any other motor I would want from any of the big 3 in a 1500.

I have a 2022 1500 high country with the max tow package and regularly tow a ATC 2419 gross with all my toys at 10,800lbs. I live in the Pacific Northwest and mainly tow in the mountains and average between 10.5 and 12.5 mpg and I have never had to go below the speed limit except to wait up for a friend towing less weight with a 2007 8.1L. I average 27.5 when not towing, wifes boss has the same truck without the Max tow and gets around 32mpg.

@TheSouders yes, as I said my wife's boss has a 2024 Denali and he gets around 32mpg and my Daughter recently bought a 2023 GMC elevation and is getting the same 32mpg. She just moved across the country to Tennessee and towed a 9000lb trailer and averaged 13.9 for the 2200 mile trip. She does not have the max tow, but I think the extra HP and Torque really make a difference in the 23 and up model.

@@devinsampare9483 I was extremely unhappy with GM. In 2020 they had the secret package called the diesel off-road package and it came with 3.73s and mud terrains. I think they were fishing to see if they would have warranty issues. Suddenly in 2022 Max trailering becomes available. Unfortunately the diesel off-road package also included 4 low, Max trailering does not. However. If you want 4 Lo with a 3 l Duramax and max trailering there is a secret. All high countries come with 4 Lo as part of their whole brand image for that trim level thing. So if you order Max trailering on a high country it is the only way in all of GM to get a 3 l Duramax with four low and Max trailering.

@@AndrewVanMeer do you live in a mountainous area? I only had 1,400 lb of payload so do bear that in mind. That only gives you 550 lb for the driver and anything else that you put into the truck. If I hadn't already owned two 3.0's, I would have bought a another one. but instead I went with the Colorado which has been.... less than ideal when it comes to fuel economy. Over 11,000 mi I've averaged 14.2MPG. on this 3.0 AT4 that you see in the video, over 25,000 miles I got 22, but almost half of that mileage was towing.

Useable. Wish EGT could be kept lower to keep power up. LZ0 should solve this. Sway, nothing to note, this trailer won't sway unless you get REAL crazy loading it. Power wise is a bit of a double-edged sword on one hand they really gently taper this power to where you're not really going to notice that it's slowly decreasing power. (Whereas on a heavy duty it tends to be very apparent when it reduces power). On the other hand when not doing long passes and just doing sort of medium stuff I wish it would give you a little bit more lead room before it starts pulling power. I should probably clarify I'm not talking about power tanking off of a cliff it just slowly decreases it a couple percent at a time. Bear in mind though I also don't drive like a lunatic and I recognize that I weigh 15,000 lb. I've also always had a loaded trailer that weighs more than the truck. Honestly outside of the mountains from behind the wheel you don't really notice that you're working it hard, so it's really good at holding gears. Mpg and def you know but everything else is relaxing Fun fact I got better mileage on this run than I do towing my 5,000 lb trailer behind my LBZ.

@@billyyank5334 It's all over KZfaq people having problems with darmax diesel trucks common fuel problems. Ford, Chevy, Dodge the company's all know about it but they don't want to fix it costs to much or don't know how too fix it.

@@billyyank5334 I wouldn't recommend a diesel setup 1500 the next too the towing of a Duramax Diesel. Is what I have now 1500 Chevy Silverado Texas edition 9,000-12,000 pounds. Maybe a trail boss but I think it's lower then the Texas edition less it's the Duramax.

@@billyyank5334 Some the diesel fuel made the fuel injectors bad and fuel pump. One KZfaqr said he was going to Ford because he was tired of fixing the same thing over and over and the dealership mainly just blames the owners. So they don't have to fix it but I seen the same thing with another KZfaqr on a Ford diesel truck oil fuel problem.

And get rid of the two stage oil pump leave it as a high flow low pressure pump or full pressure all the time. I think it’s a great motor if you will fix these few things and a rubber belt drive oil pump are you kidding me come on you can do better than this !!!!

Thanks for the info. I have been looking at a max tow 6.2 at 3.42, so I thought 3.42 was the max tow lackege, but I now see the 3.0 max tow is 3.73. Awesome! Would love that set up on my 3.0! @@duramaxadventures5832

My 1995 7.3 liter can beat that !

I would hope so with 4.3 more liters, but the 7.3 is an under performing turd. Reliable yes, but extremely slow.
@billyyank5334
@billyyank5334 5 ай бұрын
Yeah, I doubt it if it is a stock 7.3. The 1995 7.3 specs are 225 hp and 450 lb-ft. The little LM2 Duramax is 277 hp and 460 lb-ft and not to mention your 7.3 is going to be in a heavier F-250/350 unless you shoe horned it into an F-150 if it's even possible, so this Duramax 1500 will be walking all over you if you were pulling the same trailer weight. And I failed to mention that fancy 7.3 is 2.4 larger in displacement and making less power. LOL

Sorry You did wrong you all the max that truck if you would’ve had problems with it damage it the dealership and I fix it. You cannot go buy the sticker you have to go by the Vin number calling the dealership is a sticker is wrong. A lot of people found that out.

the sticker is accurate on this truck. otherwise it isnt what you were sold. then you know full refunds, $20K compensation, false advertising charges, etc. they are feeding BS to TFL.

They literally put the VIN on the sticker… weight ratings are matched to each individual vehicle based on build specs.

You misunderstood, the GCWR of the entire thing is 15k. That’s how much weight that little 3.0 had to move.
