I set the tank in a corner where 3 sides are adjacent to a wall so they don’t surf the glass (also I don’t clean the front glass and the dirt etc makes them realize they can’t get through) Either way it’s only temporary I’m going to build them a larger pvc enclosure with plants etc

Hey really glad this was useful for you! Cherryheads come from Brazil so they need a higher humidity. What kind of substrate do you use? It could be that the humidity is too low for him so he’s staking in his cave because it’s a more suitable micro climate for him. You could also lay out a couple small rocks or pieces of driftwood. I did that recently and my tortoises love to burrow themselves up next to them when they’re basking. But realistically when cherryheads are less than a year old they will spend 95% of their time hiding. It’s just how they feel most comfortable in nature to avoid prey. A lot of cherryhead hatchlings don’t make it through their first year cause of predators

I use Zoo med florets floor bedding 100% Natural cypress mulch I don’t really have much time to mist him and I’m STILL working on a schedule. There’s a lot to figure out. I know that he’s at least 4 months old though so he could be still hiding because of that fact. It’s been getting really cold where I live now so I can’t take him on walks anymore
