Nice video! Such a simple set up. My babies are starving themselves and refuse to eat bits of red worms i present to them. I might try this set up with the small roaches to see if they respond.

Cuban tree frogs are such amazing amphibians! I remember keeping a wild caught pair of them years ago when I was into frogs mostly. They did well for a while but slowly went downhill as they most likely had parasites and I was uneducated on how to help them. Captive bred ones would be great for the industry!
@BenjaminsExotics
@BenjaminsExotics 3 жыл бұрын
@ZD Exotics, Indeed! Not only are they normally loaded with parasites, but the reptile collectors who catch these for the pet trade are only selling them to reptile dealers for quarters a piece if that, which doesn't create much incentive to take very good care of them while they are waiting to be sold. Many are starved/dehydrated before they are sold, which can lead to organ damage as a result. Not to mention bacterial infections, exposure to chemicals, toxing out syndrome, etc. They have been captive breeding these guys in Asia for years now, so hopefully we can get CB babies into the US market soon!

Hi! I’m wondering how to know when exactly to pull the froglet from the rad pool tank and into this container. Will it still have somewhat of a tail? I’ve put one in a small cup with shallow water as per other instructions I’ve found online and it drowned. I’m glad I found your channel now, but could use a little more guidance in the transition from tadpole to froglet. Thank you!

I have just gotten 6 eastern dwarfs tree frogs 4 months old. I hardly see them and just keep putting x-small crickets and tiny earthworms in a bowl, in their planted vivarium. Keep seeing lots of poops, so guess they are eating. They are still croaking, but still very shy.

I'm raising some tadpoles rescued from a pool. Pretty sure they are eastern green tree frogs (I'm in VA) at what point do they stop needing a pool of water to swim in? I've been letting them go in the pond when their tails get to be a 1/4" or less and they are sticking to the side of the aquarium.

I have some young Amazon milky frogs. Been doing something like this. Seems like overnight is best chance for them to eat. Is there any danger in letting them in with crickets/Dubias etc overnight ? I’ve seen some things saying don’t leave them unsupervised but otherwise they don’t eat them. Takes them awhile. They can crawl up the side if they are bothered.

What do you feed them when they first lose their tail? As in they are the size of a tadpole. I "rescued" some tadpoles over summer my neighbor was going to dump out and now I have several that I guess didn't morph soon enough so they won't leave the tank I raised them in on my front porch. I don't know what else to do other than bring them inside for winter but I have no idea what to feed them at this point. When they still had tails I fed them boiled cabbage but I know they eat insects at this point but everything I can find freeze dried is WAY too BIG for them, meal worms are twice or 3 times bigger than the froglets. Thinking about attempting a fruit fly culture although I know nothing about them but if I understand correctly once it comes in and I set it up it's at least a couple weeks before there will be any to actually feed them with so I have to give them something until then but have no idea what. I was going to try to trap some ants to put in the tank but then read you shouldn't do that because it could introduce mites so I'm at a total loss as to what to feed the little guys. PLEASE HELP!! After watching, do I have to keep them in a tub or smaller container? I'm only going to have maybe 2 or 3, no more than 5 I don't think but I planned on keeping them in the same 10 gal tank I raised them in with a mesh lid. Is that too big? What's the biggest container I can keep that size/number of frogs in and how much/often do they need fed?
@amysnews6808
@amysnews6808 2 жыл бұрын
Can I feed them carnivore powder? I bought some algae and carnivore powder when they were still tadpoles. Will they eat that still and how would I feed it to them now?
@BenjaminsExotics
@BenjaminsExotics 2 жыл бұрын
@Amys NEWS, I need more information on the species you are keeping. Some frogs like American Toads and Southern Toads require fruit flies when they come out of the water where as other species like Tomato Frogs and Green Tree Frogs can start eating pin head crickets right away as they hatch larger. Most species of tadpoles do well on a tropical fish flake diet, personally I like API flakes.
@Bunny-ns5ni
@Bunny-ns5ni 2 жыл бұрын
I breed mealworms, fruit flies, and crickets. Newly hatched mealworms are super small and make perfect feeders. Pinhead crickets are great too, and wingless fruit flies are by far the easiest. Flour beetles are tiny and would probably work well, although their chitinous exoskeletons may pose an issue. It's best to mix up the variety of insects they eat in order to get proper nutrition. If you don't have many different feeders available, sprinkle what you can with reptile/amphibian vitamin powder. I start feeding my baby frogs on fruit flies, until they grow a little bigger, then use small meal worms and crickets with fruit flies, until they grow too big for fruit flies. They love to eat, and if you feed them often enough, they grow quick. I feed about everyday or 2nd-3rd day depending on their size and how much they eat. The smaller they are, the more frequently they need to be fed. Hope this helps!

@BenjaminsExotics
@BenjaminsExotics 3 жыл бұрын
@lacey Cyr, As long as there are no restrictions on collecting and keeping native reptiles and amphibians in your state I would see no reason why not. Just make sure you take the proper steps when dealing with a wild caught amphibian, such as quarantine, deworming, testing for chytrid if you have other animals in your collection, etc.

@Amanda P, Most baby Tree Frogs can be start feeding on pinhead crickets or freshly hatched red runner roaches after coming out of the water. If they're too small for those feeders, fruit flies work the best. There are other options like micro mealworms but they aren't commercially available.

@BenjaminsExotics 2 жыл бұрын
@ twilit, If you want to add decorations to your setup that is fine, but its more for your own enjoyment than for the benefit of the frog. The frog doesn't care what the enclosure looks like as long as its care requirements are all met. And especially if you are a breeder producing hundreds of baby Tree Frogs at once, adding decorations is just adding one more thing that needs to be cleaned several times per week.
