Overview: Gold is like t outliner blade where as silver is more like the GTX blade. Gold is better for shorter hair silver better for longer hair and thicker hair. Gold tends to scratch a bit more but not to the point of pain. Gold one is quieter. Replacement blades or parts are mostly out of stock or hard to find but are compatible with both trimmers. In conclusion both trimmers are great and you can’t go wrong with either.

So I’m a fellow barber and a few weeks ago I purchased a set of the silver fx’s form Sally’s beauty supply. Took them out and tried them on myself first and the graphite blade ran really hot, I thought ok that’s odd. So I oiled them. Still same problem. So I talked to Rum Barber here on KZfaq which is another barber. He suggested I keep them oiled real good as to get them broken in some which I can see. I did that and the blade was still hot. I was puzzled I was like wow an almost $200 set of trimmers should not be doing this. So Rum Barber suggested I send them back to the company which I did and the Rep who was Tracy was very nice and understanding and being under warranty she fixed me up with an all new set. So I was excited and thought It just be a factory flaw is all it was. So I started using my new set last week and I’ll be darned if the blade isn’t running hot again! I’m like what the heck is going in here. Even the motor sounds a little funny here and there. I’ve oiled them good and am at a loss at to what is going on? Again I like the looks of these trimmers, great feel in the hand I love the skeleton trimmer. Any thoughts or help as to why this is a problem for me and has anyone else experienced this? Is there a power adjustment for them? Thanks for listening!

Hi Bro, nice video. Do you know which lenght options the gold fx has? Is it adjustable with 0,5 mm from Zero-40mm of like the clipper till 3,5mm? Last thing I need to know before buying.

Very informative. I was wondering why the Graphite Blade doesn't hit like the Gold Blade and it's definitely due to the thinness of the Blades. Im thinking of modifying the Graphite but hadn't seen too many reviews on performance after modifying (sharpening)

I heard you mention the differences between the two(2) were the short vs. long teeth for short vs longer hair. Were you Still referring to Lining/Outlining the hair, i.e. Shaping the beards, neck-lines, and around the haircut, which is what I need and have seen, as advertised?? Yes that’s the issue I had with babyliss and that’s the replacement parts! They need to work on that honestly

so i thought it was just a color difference. does the golden with the shorter teeth do better with edges? does it cut shorter than the silver one? im planning on using it mainly for bear edges

got the silver skeleton and got the graphite blade works very well cuts through hair like butter and gives sharp shape ups not tried the babyliss gold skeleton yet

I have the Babyliss FX Silver, I miss placed all the accessories except the charging cord. Would I be able to purchase them from you, the zero gap tool with the hex driver, the screw driver and the guard that protects the trimmer when not being used?

Great review, I recently bought the silver FX and it pull/snag especially cleaning up around the neckline against the grain,any idea on what may be causing this or may I have brought a defective one???

Would I have to use a screw driver n zero gap the blade like an Andis? Or is it easier just like the Babyliss clippers were u just use an allen key? Does other blades not fit this trimmer looks the same!

Honestly the gold FX is sharper, gets closer to the skin and takes down bulk much better (even though I don't use them for that) but they do slightly pull on the skin at times (not enough to be a problem or irritate skin). The deeper tooth on the graphites seems like a gimmick trying to mimic the greatness of the GTX but the gold blade is also pretty deep (no where as short as the regular t Outliner blade)

Both the FX gold and FX silver sound really loud. A). What the rated Db on them? B). What does GTX stand for? I need a quiet, long run time, Li-ion battery, for paws, face, and the underside matted hair for dogs. The motor is rather powerful, but it does sound like a race car engine! C). I currently intend to buy the Babyliss Pro FX788S, but after watching the video, I wonder if it is too loud for my dog?! D). Is the model reviewed the FX788 or something else?
