⚡ 💀 💕 / 🏃‍♀👹 This cute song is about playing a game that is like hide-and-go-seek, tag or blind-man's-bluff. Pursued by an "Oni"" which is a kind of Japanese Ogre, or demon. If not a real monster, than someone pretending to be one in order to terrify children. Good times! Kawaii Metal. : ) If much of their charm is in the blending of the cute and the brutal, this song is a great example. They're both turned up to the max. They performed this song quite a bit in 2017, but not since. The last time I saw this one was in Chula Vista, California when they were on tour opening for Korn and Stone Sour. If you think they are commanding an audience in this video, wait until you've seen 'Road of Resistance' - Live in Japan. Although you might have to superimpose a semi-transparent logo or something over the video for that one.

I'm Japanese . Thank for your nice reaction . There is no singer who has both beauty and good singing like Su-Metal (the lead singer of Babymetal) 'in Japan' , I think . She is 24years old now . She belongs to the biggest entertainment company in Japan and is a famous singer and talent from when a child . When you have a hard time , you should listen 'no rain no rainbow' by BABYMETAL . Your soul would be fulfilled by the God blessing , I think .

Welcome back to the Foxhole and BabyMetal Galaxy 🦊🤘 I love this version but I always recommend the one with the Kami Band intro so anyone can have a blast with the band jamming. If you're looking for creepy and fun hide & seek song this one is even more fun, they're playing with an Oni, a mythological Japanese ogre creature human flesh eater 👀 Love all the elements you recognized and mentioned, i also got "The Offspring" vibes on this song. Btw "Hai" means something like "Yes" or Yeah, so they're hyping the crowd, that's what they do and they're expert on that job. BabyMetal is a Japanese metal dance unit created in 2010 under another Jpop/Jrock group called Sakura Gakuin, they had 11 and 12 years old and become independent after 2013, they created their own genre called kawaii-metal, mixing Jpop with metal sound and different subgenres along with many more rhythms, They are: *SuMetal* (lead vocals, the one you asked in the center position). *MoaMetal* (scream and dance) *YuiMetal* (scream and dance, former member since 2018, she's the one you asked and she left the group for undisclosed health reasons and later making clear she didn't want to be part of the group anymore and follow her own dreams, we know nothing about her till this day except little hints here and there, we miss her oc and wish her the best). This was in December 2013 at SuMetal 16th Birthday, the other girls had 14 yo and there was a big party you have seen nothing yet, wait for _"Babymetal Death"_ It is the 2nd song out of 5 of the encore set with the Kami Band. The final three songs would be a next follow up for you to keep enjoying this: Headbanger!!, Akatsuki Unfinished Version, and Babymetal Death. Another suggestions for you songs like _Catch Me If You Can_ live at Budokan 2014 (you got a safe to react version with subtitles at GuilhermeCait channel) or _Headbangeeeeerrrrr!!!!!_ live at this same live performance Legend 1997 in Makuhari Messe Japan when SuMetal is celebrating her birthday becoming a metal goddess queen and leaving her idol jpop form (you can find one at Gans Tomas channel). - Karate, live at Download Festival 2016. - Ijime Dame Zettai, live at Sonisphere Festival 2014. - Rondo Of Nightmare with Mischiefs Of Gods Intro live at Budokan 2014. You have more than 50 songs and still more to come. Amuse their label is very hard to deal so if you want to avoid copyright blocked you have *Babymetal Reactor Resource* channel you'll get full original clips of their best live performance with watermarked logo safe to react, look for "Future Plans" vid, follow instructions and you'll get all of them, upload the one with the logo for us and you can watch without it, don't worry for us we already saw all of them. Hope you coming back with more BM songs. See you! 🦊🤘

@@LocalBandSmokeout you might check out Hanabie 'we love Sweets'. I just started listening to them last week. They're an amazing all female Japanese metalcore band. I don't even like metalcore and I love them. They're super new in band terms. Babymetal is still my all time favorite. I was obsessed with them for like 3 years. You should definitely check out some of their concert videos. They're even better than what you see here. But I'm a little bored of Babymetal now. :)

@@LocalBandSmokeout Good explanation, Jake. Just one point: Sakura Gakuin is not a Jpop/Jrock group, but the name of a private school for music, dance and stage presentation financed by the Japanese J-Pop industry and located in Hiroshima. All three girls of the early years attended this school. Their first song Doki, Doki, Morning was a semester closing school project (!).

Great first reaction. Yes this was from December 2013, the day after the lead singer's 16th birthday (the concert was Legend 1997, she was born in 1997). It really was the 11th song of the show - the second of the 5 encore songs they played after the Kami Band came on stage to support them. The Kami Band are some of Japan's absolute best session musicians, they can play anything. They were being phased in gradually from October 2012 in anticipation of BABYMETAL separating from their parent JPop Idol group Sakura Gakuin - that happened in 2013, Legend 1997 was the final step of that separation. From their first appearance the Kami Band played at a couple of festivals and the encores in some shows. Legend 1997 was the last time they played only the encores. BABYMETAL's next big shows were at the Budokan in Tokyo in March 2014 and the Kami Band became the full time support for the entirety of all live performances ever since. As session musicians they do have their own bands and projects, so they will swap in and out depending on their availability, but they have had the same hard core of the same 6 or 7 musicians who you will see in most live performance videos. In this one they were Mikio Fujioka (RIP January 2018) and Leda Cygnus on guitars, BOH on bass and Hideki Aoyama on drums. Others you will see will be Takayoshi Ohmura and ISAO, both guitarists. For the 2019 US and 2020 UK and |Europe tours the Kami Band of the West supported BABYMETAL. They are Chris Kelly and CJ Masciantonio on guitars, Clint Tustin on bass and Anthony Barone on drums. You are right, one of the girls, Yuimetal, last performed in October 2017. She announced in october 2018 that she would be leaving the band. She had health issues (we don't know what) and said although she had wanted to get back on stage that she was still not fully recovered, so she would be leaving and hoped to follow her own long held dreams. She was not replaced. From 2019 through 2021 Su and Moa, who chose to continue as a duo, were supported by 3 dancers (the Avengers, Riho, Kano and Momoko) who would take turns dancing (but not singing) in the third spot. Su-metal is the lead vocalist, the whole concept was formed and developed around her extraordinary vocal talents and stage presence. Moametal and Yuimetal provide backing vocals, harmonies and interpretive dance that helps to interpret the meaning of the songs or lyrics for those of us who don't speak Japanese. More importantly they are in charge of hyping up the audience, getting everybody involved. When they jump so does the crowd, when they pump their fist or do a certain move the audience follows their lead. Their parts of the songs are the parts the audience sing along with, so they lead chants and so on as well. It is them that gets everybody (even the people up in the balconies) jumping and joining in. 'Catch Me If You Can' is the best metal song about playing a game that's a sort of cross between tag, blind man's bluff and hide & seek I've ever heard. It is the perfect mix of the two extremes with the brutal instrumentals and the sweet vocals - and the game they are playing, they're playing with an Oni (a sort of Japanese ogre popular in regional festivals and used specifically to frighten children ... which amuses me probably more than it should). The growling vocals (they are on a backing track) are the Oni asking things like "Are you ready?" and the best response has to be "Maada da yo" (No, not yet) while doing a running away from an Oni dance. BABYMETAL have about 50 songs so far - and they are not all like 'Gimme Chocolate'. Every song is different, some good hard metal some leaning towards their pop roots and everything else in between. They have songs in virtually every metal genre but will also throw many other musical styles in with the metal. I see you reacted to Tim Henson from Polyphia - he and Scott LePage provided the guitar arrangements and played the studio version in a collaboration with BABYMETAL for their song 'Brand New Day'. I think that will surprise you if you watch a live performance - especially if you are expecting more of the same.

From what I've gathered Yui's last performance, she fell off stage, about a 6-8 foot drop, landed partially on her head, and suffered a serious back injury. She came back on stage for the next song and finished the show. After that she was at a couple other shows and had a visible back brace on. I believe that is what led to her leaving, after recovery was taking a long time and she felt it would drastically affect her ability to dance. She also wanted to pursue a single career. Su and Moa continued as a duo, as you mentioned for a couple years, but I think we can all agree they're just not the same without Yui, the backing vocals were so much better with two instead of just Moa, plus with the absence of Yui Black Babymetal was no longer possible. The songs Yui and Moa performed as Black Babymetal were written by mostly Yui, with some parts also written by Moa. It would be awesome to have a reunion of the original Trinity, and return of Black Babymetal. There has been some chatter about the reason for the hiatus being that they're waiting for Yui to be fully recovered and for them to get back to their roots with the originals reuniting, which would be amazing, so I guess we shall see, afterall only the Fox God knows what's in store for them.
@Grington300
@Grington300 2 жыл бұрын
@@aaronryan3404 No, you have been misled on the sequence of events and the timeline. Yui fell off stage on day 1 of the Budokan shows at the beginning of March 2014. She was back on stage for the next song, smiling and signalling to Su and Moa that she was fine. Second night at Budokan there were new safety rails all round the stage. That was over 3.5 years before her last performance at the Big Fox Festival in October 2017. That was where she may have been wearing a back brace - certainly her movements in that show were very stiff in comparison to every other performance before then. The chances of her fall in March 2014 being the cause of whatever was wrong that led to her leaving 3.5 - 4.5 years later are very slim. They held her place for 12 months before she made her announcement saying she had wanted to return to the stage but had still not fully recovered her health and would be leaving and hoped to be able to follow her own long held personal dreams - we have no idea what they were either. Yui and Moa have full writing credits for just one song - '4 No Uta' which they wrote on the tour bus in Singapore in 2013. Neither of them have any other writing credits for any of the Black BABYMETAL or any other songs. Moa has performed some Black BABYMETAL songs as solos since Yui left - most recently at the Budokan shows in 2021 where she had 4 "little sisters" dancing along with her. It is nearly 4 years since Yui left ... the hiatus was because covid prevented them performing live. People who set up shows (carpenters, lighting crew, sound engineers) have all had to get other jobs, so setting up new live shows is not easy to do any more. Hopefully they will be able to work something out so live shows are a possibility again before much longer. Other than that, don't believe any of the chatter you may read on the internet about Yui coming back, reunions or whatever. Most (all) of it is down to wishful thinking, none of it is based on any knowledge, evidence or anything of substance.

@@Grington300 Well written and yes, everything what Aaron said (except the fact that Yui fell of the stage at the Budokan show) is wrong or pure speculation/rumors. Nobody has heard anything official from Yui publicly, except from her note at the 10 year anniversary yearbook from SG. Hopefully we will get some new songs by the end of the year and Babymetal can return what they do best, which is live shows :)

So what ever she has decided to do I hope she's happy and well but to this day she is still missed.

Good reaction, thanks! Heaviest song about playing "hide and seek" but it's with an "oni" a sort of Japanese ogre. So, that makes it a little more interesting. On other versions the band members (called Kami Band) play some solos but here we only have two minutes of the girls hyping the (already hyped) crowd... but you know what? that works for me. And yes, that particular audience is really amazing and they finally got exactly what they deserved. The song is definitely on their heavier side instrumentally but also has cute vocals and choreo, including my personal favorite movement: the infamous "Moa slide" :) You can check "Headbanger" from the same concert. Or maybe something more recent like "Syncopation". Until next time!

This is one of a few songs where the band used to do a special intro when performed live, I'm not sure why the requester would have suggested a version without that intro, so I'm sad that you didn't get the full experience of this song with this version especially since you mentioned how good the band is. Some suggestions for live performances with intros from the band: BABYMETAL | Rondo of Nightmare (w/ Mischiefs of Metal Gods Intro) | LIVE at Budokan Black Night BABYMETAL - 'YAVA!'「ヤバッ!」(Kami band intro) [LIVE PROSHOT] [SUBTITLED] [4K HQ] and the a version of this song with the intro: BABYMETAL | Catch Me If You Can (with Kami Band Intro) | LIVE at Budokan Black Night (HQ) Other than that, if you want to react to more BABYMETAL the here are some picks: BABYMETAL - Headbanger (Live at Legend 1997) BABYMETAL - Ijime,Dame,Zettai - Live at Sonisphere 2014,UK (OFFICIAL) BABYMETAL - メギツネ - MEGITSUNE (OFFICIAL) BABYMETAL - Road of Resistance - Live in Japan (OFFICIAL) Those will then set you up and get you prepared for: BABYMETAL DEATH | Legend 1997 (Complete)

They’re not saying “Hi!” They’re saying “Hai!” which literally means “Yes.” But, Japanese can be contextual, and in this context, it can mean “Go!” or just a cheer to get the audience excited. As for Yuimetal, the first vocalist of the song, she was the one who left the band, officially for “health” reasons - and that’s all we know. Any other reason circulating around is pure rumor.

Nice reaction. They haven't done this song in a while. Probably since Moa got too big to do the dive under Su. I tend to imagine the rehearsal going something like Moa knocks Su over and she's like ok that's it for this song. lol Which would be hilarious to have seen. But who knows why bands stop doing songs? Next Yui is the one who left back in 2018 officially. She had stopped performing with them in 2017 all due to a health issue. Yui was never replaced. Officially Babymetal is listed as Su and Moa. Babymetal shows are a workout. We need them back here on tour in the US. Whip us back into shape. Audience participation is a must at a Babymetal show. I've been told going to a Babymetal concert is a life altering experience. Might be after all that participation you've burned 1000's calories. Moa just turned 23 on the 4th of July. Su will turn 25 in Dec. I'm hoping they release their 4th album this year so we can have a big birthday show for Su's 25th. That show would sellout in moments. Their birthday celebrations are some of the best shows I have ever seen. The video is from Su's 16th birthday show. The bass player Boh had Happy birthday on the back of his head. You can see it clearly in the Headbanger video from this concert. Legend 1997. The year Su the lead singer was born. Enjoy the journey down the foxhole and into the Babymetal galaxy of music.
