Band BIO:
Babymetal is a Japanese metal band. The band consists of Suzuka Nakamoto as "Su-metal" and Moa Kikuchi as "Moametal". The band is produced by Kobametal from the Amuse talent agency. Their vocals are backed by heavy metal instrumentation, performed by a group of session musicians known as the "Kami Band" at performances.
FUN FACTS about band:
-MoaMetal is a fan of Limp Bizkit because of it's dance oriented music like Babymetal. The favourite song is My Generation
-Su-Metal, MoaMetal and YuiMetal are roles. Su-Metal confirmed this several times on Japanese interviews and talked about Su-Metal as third person perspective. But Babymetal stayed in their roles in some interviews with western media
- The Fox sign was a mistake. They saw some photo's of metal legals made the devils horn sign and they thought it was a fox. So it became the sign of Babymetal and the fox god
-Yui-metal fell off the stage at Budokan concert. After a short while she came back on the stage without severe injuries

I went to the arena show at BUDOKAN in January and February. Believe it or not, SU and MOA, 23 and 21 years old, performed this song for the first time in a while and it was really cool.!

Moa was SO SMALL in this! I think it's in KZfaq, but there's a version of this song played live on 2010 during a Sakura Gakuin event, that's the very first time the girls performed as Babymetal I think, at the beginning Yui forget the choreography and there's a guy in the audience (known only as 'The White Shirt Dude') dancing along with them 😂. Long long journey ahead of them since this!

Those are NOT their school uniforms. The jacket SU is wearing was actually borrowed for the video and now it's in the Sakura Gakuin museum.

They had all three costumes on display for the Sakura Gakuin 5th Anniversary exhibit, and Su's whole costume on display for the Sakura Gakuin 10th Anniversary exhibit. I would assume they're all stored safely since that most recent exhibit has ended. It's pretty funny that anyone thinks those "Goth Loli" style outfits would be a school uniform anywhere in Japan. : )

"Doki Doki" is a Japanese onomatopoeia term for a pounding heart used to express excitement or nervousness. It was recorded in late 2010 for the first Sakura Gakuin CD so Su would have been almost 13 and Yui and Moa just turned 11. It didn't get a video release at that time; the initial videos off the album were "Hello Ivy" and "Dear Mr. Socrates". So Babymetal could have just been another Sakura Gakuin sub-unit. But there was obviously a good reaction to the song and the performance chemistry of BM's members and Amuse and BM's producer, Kobametal, decided to promote the song with a MV release a year later. The song peaked at #80 in the Japanese charts. Sakura Gakuin and Babymetal are both celebrating 10th year anniversaries this year, but SG will come to an end with the 2021 graduation leaving only Babymetal to continue the fun.

In the music video Su is still 13 as her birthday is in Dec and it was filmed in Oct 2011. Yui and Moa are 12. The song was a year earlier. I believe all we know is 'finished in Oct 2011' but i'm pretty sure it was all filmed in one day.

@@jthomas6672 - Yes, the song was recorded (vocals) on Oct 30 2010. The short answer is that the video was Oct 2011. The long answer is that the only thing we have is that the video was 'finished in Oct 2011' or something like that. It was a little vague and strangely worded. You could argue that maybe the video was shot before that but i don't think that is very likely. I don't think they spent much time shooting the video or editing it. Certainly not months. I think it was shot in one day and editing is max of 2 days.

Few fun facts: - The video is trippy, because they didn't have much budget even for the MV, since Amuse didn't believe in the project, so they had to be creative when they made it! - The girls taught the dance moves to the babybones, and they were really proud of this :D - There is a video of this performed live for the first time on the official Babymetal youtube! They were even younger than this!! - In This song and Iine you can clearly hear the contrast between the Pop and Metal, since they had to make their objective and style clear early on to catch the attention of the people :D

⚡ 💀 💕 / 💓 ⏰ This is where it all began. 'Doki Doki ☆ Morning was their first song, first music video, etc. Pretty much everything that followed was because this unexpectedly blew up. At this point, BABYMETAL were the "Heavy Music Club" sub-unit of the school-themed Idol group Sakura Gakuin. Their original budget was so small that Su's coat was borrowed from one of the staff. Moa's vest was borrowed from Yui, and Yui borrowed hers from fellow student Raura. The girls taught the skeleton dudes the dance moves themselves. This song covers all of those traditional Heavy Metal themes, like waking up excited for a new day at school, and deciding on your lip gloss and cute hairstyle for the day. : ) More seriously, there were other sub-units besides BABYMETAL at Sakura Gakuin that had more resources for costumes and video production, like the Twinklestars (Baton Club) that Yui and Moa were also a part of. But even with a shoestring budget this video is the one that blew up on social media. This song is still a huge hit with fans when they play it live. It reminds us how far they've come. And of course it's adorable. Moa mentioned in a recent interview how good Su is at imitating her younger voice for songs like this one.

Haha, that was very funny, your faces at the first few notes. Go to a concert where they play this live .... watch the tattooed metalheads doing the dance moves in the mosh pit. :-) This video was shot on a very low budget - and those are not school uniforms, each of them are wearing something borrowed to make up their first costumes (eg Su's jacket was borrowed from a staff member I think).

Moa, being an only child, had (still has) an Oneesama Complex...Su is kind of like the big sister she wished she had. OTOH, Su is the bratty younger sister in her family...her elder sister Himeka says that Su used to steal her clothes from her closet. And Yui...well, Yui likes to eat raw tomatoes, fall asleep randomly, and stare at the camera.

Doki Doki Morning is Babymetal first single which Babymetal still under Sakura Gakuin or Cherry Blossom School is where Babymetal originates from and debut in 2010. Babymetal fanbase ages varies from the youngest to the oldest and some hardcore fans that supports Babymetal wherever they perform. Babymetal blends metal genre and Jpop elements well into the heavy music. Babymetal is unique and different from any metal band out there. Kitsune Up 🦊🦊🦊🤟

Nice one, thanks! This was the first all: song, single, mv... Actually we are here right now talking about them because of this song. We owe a lot to it. This is what happens when you have a crazy idea but have no budget (I mean, the costumes of the girls are borrowed and the babybones's are made with white tape...) but your company lets you experiment a little, probably thinking "what could go wrong?" It was actually remastered by Ted Jensen on the "10 BABYMETAL Years" CD. And they also have played it live (a lot) lately (they didn't played it since Hiroshima 2017). Su imitating her younger self is priceless, btw. See ya!

Love this! Love how you noticed and liked how smoothly the double kicks are in the song. Btw, I guess you didn't saw the 4 (or 5?) hidden skeletons in the music video. It's fine, not everyone spots them right away in their first watch till someone point it out. If you want to see them, they pop up in the part before the BABYBONES joined the girls in dancing. Look closely and you'll see them. Kitsunes up!

The height difference of Su over Yui and Moa becomes so much more apparent as you go back in time. At that time, Su was the third tallest girl in Sakura Gakuin (Ayaka Miyoshi and Airi Matsui remain the tallest to have ever been in the group), while Yui and Moa remained the smallest (even though two younger girls joined in 2011) until 2012. By the way, BabyMetal Avenger Momoko Okazaki was born March 3, 2003. Happy 18th Birthday to her! :D

It's really safe to say that this song was the "experimental song" for what Kawaii metal back then.. Interesting when Alan said it well produced, while they got nearly no budget for making this MV. It does sounds heavier with Kami Band behind it, you can totally imagine how the 23yo Su and 21yo Moa Singing and dancing "Doki Doki Morning" At Budokan 10. And of course, the Ref gonna stuck in your head for a while

Su has said that they showed her an early version of this song just after she left Karen Girls, even before Sakura Gakuin started, that brings us around mid or late 2009. They performed it for the first time in Sakura Gakuin's first show, november 2010, that was also Babymetal's debut as a sub-unit of SG. At that time Su was twelve and the little girls eleven, though they recorded this video nearly a year later, they must have been 13 and 12 here. This song had not been performed in a long time, but as it was included in the 10th anniversary album, it has been performed in both the Rock May Kan online concert from december and on the shows at Budokan 2021 from january and february.

FINALLY! you guys got to Doki Doki Morning. They had NO budget. Su-Metal had to borrow a jacket from a teacher and think Moa had to borrow a shirt from Yui. The skeletons bones were just just made with white tape. Talk about making a video on a budget. Just goes to show that the Creme rises to the top and talent always shines. That goes for the whole lot; production, management, band etc...

Nice & thanks again from Japan 有難う💛。BABYMETAL is singing about a school girl who overslept in the morning and got up quickly and dressed in haste asking repeatedly what time it was now. "Doki Doki" signifies sound of fast heartbeat. And the girl also got excited expecting what was going to happen today at her school and in her future. Now in 2021, they are matured and no longer school girls, but they performed this song again at Budokan in Jan. & Feb. mimicking their childish voices. Every audience at the venue became happy. I don't know if it's been said already but some interesting facts about this mv: This is actually a low budget one. Their jackets were borrowed(Su borrowed from a staff,Moa borrowed from Yui, Yui borrowed from a fellow Sakura Gakuin member), the Babybones on the background were some of the staff that were taught to pretend play the instruments and the dance. And also this makes a good wake up alarm😁

Ha, always cracks me up when people who already watched a lot of BABYMETAL go back to this video. But their costumes are way too "punk-y" to be school uniforms in Japan. They aren't that liberal when it comes to stuff like uniformity and conformity. For example, girls aren't even allowed to wear pants if they wanted to (other than maybe in some small private school), they have to wear skirts, so the whole red and black plaid look is probably something we won't see with Japanese school uniforms in our lifetime 😉. Funny anecdote is, they needed to borrow the costumes from other members and staff because they didn't get enough budget to buy all of the clothes. The costumes were used for a pretty long time, though (I believe well into 2012) and were displayed at the Sakura Gakuin museum they did at the main Tower Records store at the end of last year. The thing that impresses me when they perform this song live, Su still has the kawaii vocals down when they perform it live. She can make herself sound like she's 12 years old again, you can't really hear that her vocals are well matured now. If I'm not mistaken they remastered the song on their "10 BABYMETAL Years" Best of CD (but I'm not sure). I hope they release the album on Spotify (for other countries than Japan) in the near future, but I'll believe it when I see it.

This song was retired from live performances til just recently. The fans are waiting for the the Budokan 10 years of babymetal to be released for this track and a few others which have made a come back live. I hope Koba brings this on tour again.

I was hoping you would do the Doki Doki Morning Rehearsal, you see them in the studio and perhaps their first live performance. They are 13 and 11 yo in this one. Sakura Gakuin was started in 2010. Question; Do you think you could deal with a daughter(s) with this level of talent?

I'm always proud to say that this was my first song to hear from BabyMetal when there was no other song from them, and i like it a lot, but sadly I lost their tracks until many more years later. Anyway, as someone already told you they performed this song recently for the 10 years anniversary live at Budokan, The One and the girls love this one because is the foundation of their own genre kawaii-metal, as well as the whole first album. But even MoaMetal doesn't recognized herself watching these old vids jumping around with so much energy, she thinks that little girl might be another girl, dope right? I have been a metalhead for pretty much all my life, and i remember in the first weeks after discovering BABYMETAL I turned the volume down in my car when this song came up, I felt a bit strange blasting the childish melody. But what the heck, nobody cares, and it's too awesome to not enjoy it to its fullest. Now I play it full blast and sing along, and I love it. That reminds me, have you ever watched the official music video for Iine? If you haven't, you should!
