Haha, great reaction. You were confused? Think how the people there on the day felt, nobody had any clue what was about to happen. When the lights went out on BABYMETAL on one of the moving stages and then the lights lit up their doppelgangers (now we know they are Metalverse) on the other moving stage across the arena the audience were thinking it must be a mirror, or maybe an optical illusion, or maybe they had teleported across the arena ... and then they saw the red in the costumes (yes, a throwback to BABYMETAL's earlier costumes) and that it was not Su, Moa and Momoko at all but three younger girls .... It didn't take the fans there very long to recognise and work out who the girls were - Jake Muller and RoadRunner have already told you their names. This is an alternate BABYMETAL from a parallel world - and they will be opening the stage at Summer Sonic Festival for what I think will be their first show where BABYMETAL will be headlining that evening.

Welcome to BabyMetal's metalverse 🦊🤘🌐 You were really confusing with this lmao They recently performed at Rising Sun Rock Festival a couple of days ago and SuMetal tried to compete with the sunset during Monochrome, and today (also yesterday but in another place) held the "Apocrypha - Another One" exclusive live concert for fans, returning with Headbanger!! once again and even playing rock, paper scissors during Megitsune classic shenanigans between the girls lol The place (Zepp Haneda) was so packed that fans couldn't pull out their phones when SuMetal commands for it during Monochrome.🥴 The 2nd day they live premiere the new collab song with living legend Tom Morello from RATM and Audioslave called "Metali" and we got another banger, can't wait for your reaction when this release worldwide tomorrow. ...👇

First of all, this is another BM unit in the same stage, you probably saw the three of them live at Budokan 2021 when they were even younger and with masks performing along with MoaMetal two Black Babymetal songs, there were four baby-foxes. They're: Miko Todaka (16), SuMetal's mirror, former SG alumni, she's from Hiroshima just like Suzuka. Sakia Kimura (14), MoaMetal's mirror, former SG alumni. Kokona Kato (14), she's part of Amuse Kids division and Ciao Girl's just like MoaMetal was before enter SG, she was pointed out to enter SG but sadly she couldn't because it was disbanded in 2021, she's very charismatic and she got 13 when doing this performance, her birthday is around the same date MoaMetal bday. Fans were really surprised with this when performing live, there was a lore intro but no one was ready just like you. After this some fans put them a name personally I don't like but now they got this official name "Metalverse" thanks to the Fox God. They will be performing next month opening Summer Sonic Festival and there's already a couple of shorts in the official social media of Metalverse separate from BM with another music in the background, already 5 clips with possible new songs and they sound real different but still with some metal touch. thank you for your chaos reaction😜...that's the way it has to be done?...as a prelude, first hit the mic several times, first with your hand...'BANG! BANG BADANG!' then with this ridiculously big bottle 'KLAAAANG!'...and everything that is on the desk is shaken loudly. after that 'Darth Potter' puffs forever into the mic. then the gaming chair is ridden through the prairie with a loud clatter. then the video is watched spellbound, of course not without mistreating the mic several times. 'Darth' excitedly and enthusiastically follows what's happening on screen until he's so excited that he misses the CRUCIAL SCENE! the fade from the stage with babymetal to the stage with chibimetal! this disastrous pilot error now inevitably leads to the failure of important equipment. visual and acoustic stimuli are misinterpreted or not recognized at all. 'Darth Potter' can only initiate an emergency landing with difficulty and just about prevent a total loss. but hey! babymetal, chibimetal, the pilot and all the passengers survived, that's the main thing. thumbs up!👍 😜😜🤣🤣🤣

The US shows will not be this elaborate. This show was also the last time they used the real kami band. The "Avengers" have been officially gone since April 1st when the only remaining avenger Momoko became Momo Metal. The other girls are basically another Babymetal in another dimension or Metalverse. Or just another way to keep the gimmick going lol

Metalverse (the "doppelgangers") are known to be Chibi-Babymetal. The intro video basically explains why they exist, lore wise. Metalverse consists of 4/5'ths of Sakura Gakuin alumni...the school where the original and current members of Babymetal are from. funfacts: In Sakura Gakuin, MomoMetal/Momoko shared the same class with Yagi Miki of Metalverse (not shown in this video)...also, the lead of Metalverse is Todaka Miko, who is also from the same hometown as SuMetal

The costumes the Metalverse girls were wearing are new and different from previous Babymetal costumes, but still designed to pay homage to the old red and black costumes worn in the early years of Babymetal.

I loved your reaction to seeing the Metalverse for the first time. I can only imagine what it feels to watch this without knowing that a new version of Babymetal was showing up. The crowd didn't know it was going to happen, either. Anyway, so basically, Metalverse is a Babymetal variant, a Babymetal from another universe. They even have their own music and it's pretty good, too, less heavy, more pop, but good. They currently have 5 members who graduated from Sakura Gakuin, just like the Babymetal members.

Thanks again from Japan 有難う💛。I witnessed these two-day shows at the venue and dropped my jaw on Day-1 like you did. After a somber announcement with Marvel style, the bubbly and playful intro of Doki Doki Morning that has stark contrast with the sinister message started. Then ... I could not understand what was going on when another set of seemingly pseudo-BABYMETAL appeared in duel position against authentic BABYMETAL 😱. I did not know who they were but came to know that they were amazing performers immediately after they started to sing and dance. What a story Team BABYMETAL had created to surprise and entertain the audience !! (After the Day-1, fans promptly figured out who the mysterious girls were 😄 ) This song is about a school girl who overslept in the morning and got up quickly and dressed in haste asking repeatedly what time it was now. "Doki Doki" signifies sound of fast heartbeat. Su, Moa and Momoko are matured and no longer school girls, but they revived this song in 2021 shows at Budokan mimicking their own childhood voices and lovable moves. I loved it. But this 2023 version with 6 girls made my heartbeat 300 bpm Doki Doki 🤣 And the another set of girls called Metalverse is going to have their own concert on Aug. 24/25. Just so you know, I have a ticket to the concert on 25.

I was there @ Makuhari in January when this happened, but was so far away... I saw two stages with three performers each, but could not figure out their faces. Now I know who they are and how good of a performer the lead (Miko) is. It's great to see what Koba has planned. I have underestimated him before, but no more. I'll just watch with interest!

If you were confused, being able to see the whole thing perfectly, imagine the people attending at Makuhari Messe which is huge and flat and they were able to see only parts of the stage. This was the first appearance of the "Metalverse" also known as "Chibimetal" by fans. They are Miko Todaka (Mirroring Su), Kokona Kato (Mirroring Moa) & Sakia Kimura (Mirroring Momoko). They are opening the Summer Sonic Tokyo 2023 next August 20 and they will have a couple of events as a kick off (or unboxing as they call it) on 8.24 and 8.25 at Spotify O-EAST. That and a few snippets is all we know for real. I'm sure Alan can explain it way better than me :)

Hahahaha that was fun to watch. The other girls were named Chibimetal by the fans but now got their official name Metalverse and will be unboxed on August, 24th at Shibuya East. The lead singer Miko just had her 17th birthday 2 days ago and she is pretty impressive. She is also a former member of Sakura Gagukin. Babymetal did perform Karate with them at the PiA arena show on April 1st this year.

I was at this concert. We had a good laugh at the shameless copying of the Marvel logos. Apparently copyright laws in Japan are a bit different than elsewhere and they can do things like this. We didn't know what the hell was even going on when the three new girls appeared on stage opposite Babymetal. I thought it might be some kind of hologram effect, but then I saw that the outfits they were wearing were a combination of the modern outfits and the old red tutus and I realised that it was three new girls. A couple of hours after the show, people had figured out that it was Miko Todaka and Sakia Kimura from Sakura Gakuin, and Kokona Kato from Amuse Kids. I've seen Babymetal at the big arena shows in Japan, and at some smaller shows when they toured Australia in June, and the show they take on the road is very much scaled down from the massive arena spectaculars they do in Japan. Their tour shows is just them and the Kami band on stage with a video wall behind them projecting video, effects smoke and a more basic light setup. Both formats are great in different ways; the big shows are spectacular and epic, but they are in big venues and the view is not always the best (they put the gaijin up the back usually), whereas at the smaller tour shows, you can get much closer and really see them perform (I was second row right in front of Moa for the tour shows).
