The Fox God must be looking out for ya, for having reacted to all the Babymetal hits without being blocked yet.... The best thing to take away from this performance is the girls incredible crowd control.... You should see some of their festival performances like Karate from Download 2016 or IDZ from Sonisphere 2014 to see how they work a Western metal audience.🤘🦊🤘

The third "missing" member of Babymetal is Yui Mizuno (Yuimetal). Her last performance was in October 2017 and she officially left BM a year later. The reasons are thought to be her health and wanting to pursue things outside BM. Fans speculate that she had chronic back problems and might have been wearing a back brace and taking steroid treatment given her appearance in some photos. Still that's just speculation. It's interesting to note that after 5 years of almost zero public activity for Amuse they still have Yui under contract so there must be a special relationship there. Losing Yui was a big hit to BM, but 3 months later their guitarist Mikio Fujioka died in a fall. Obviously these two events are far more important than just how they affected the band's performances, but they lost two elements of their magic. The fix for Yui leaving has been to draft in several back up dancers, called the Avengers, to dance her part, but BM is officially now just Su and Moa. Amuse have also pushed the Kami Band a bit out of the limelight by making them wear masks. I don't think this has been successful and we will have to see what the new 2023 album, "The One", and tour bring.

Great reaction again. I won't repeat the (far too lengthy - sorry about that) history I posted on your previous reaction, nobody wants to read all that twice. 'Headbanger' is about a girl going to her first concert on her 15th birthday, but there is more to it than that. 15 is when compulsory education ends in japan, so she is also coming to terms with the fact life will change for her now. She will no longer be considered as a child and those first 15 years have passed by so quickly, so she is etching this special night into her heart so she will never forget. Su-metal was still only 14 when it was recorded (Yui and Moa were 12) so it is not biographical, but they could relate since they were already starting to play metal concerts. Legend 1997 was the title of the concert on 21st December 2013, the day after Su-metal's 16th birthday. She was born in 1997, this was pretty much her birthday party. Yuimetal and Moametal are 18 months younger than Su, so they were 14 in this. Give a couple of 14 year old girls smoke cannons to fire at an audience and you know they'll have fun with them. I think you already have suggestions for more songs and performances to react to so I'll just look forward to joining you as you discover just how awesome these girls really are - and when you run out of suggestions we'll have a load more for you.

The "Official" version of Headbanger fleshs out more of Queen Su's tranformation story. The Neckbrace, delivered by a messanger of The Fox God, that empowers The Queen to spread Metal Music throughout the World. A Great Vid and deffinately worth ck'ing out.

This performance is from almost 10 years ago. They have all been performing since they were children. Su, the lead singer, is the centerpiece of the group. She started as a baby model when she was 5 years old and was performing on stage by the age of 8. She has been in musicals and idol groups before Babymetal. It is always preferable to watch live performance as their productions are incredible and yes Rammstein is a reasonable comparison. In Japan they regularly sell out 20,000 seat arenas and sold out the Tokyo Dome (55,000) two nights in a row in 2016. As part of their return after their hiatus they have announced two shows in January in Japan (there is a lottery to get tickets and they will sell out in seconds) and will be touring with Sabaton (who they have collaborated with before) on their European tour. They have also collaborated with Bring Me the Horizon, Polyphia, Dragon Force.

Wow you really got impressed by these girls, glad you came back so fast to check it out the real deal. Like i told you in my previous comment, one of them no longer belongs to the group, YuiMetal left the group in 2018 officially, around these date, after that you'll see during live performance others backup dancers called "avengers", but none of them sing or have mic, they only dance, so the only official members and front women of this group are SuMetal and MoaMetal now, KobaMetal is the producer and Mikiko-Metal is the choreographer. If you want to know more about them i recommend you to watch "A BabyMetal Guide" by CrypticMisery, but just after watching "Babymetal Death" and BxMxC so you don't get ruined the surprise factor. Headbangeeeeerrrrr!!!!! is one of BM fans favorite and got special meaning too. Song is about a 15 years old girl celebrating her birthday going to her first live concert, probably metal, while having melancholy for leaving her childhood behind. Isn't about any of our girls but they embraced this song like it was made for them, you'll find many special versions of this, even when they celebrate their 20th Birthday. 15 is an important coming of age for Japanese girls, 20 is another important date. This was at Legend 1997 in 2013 celebrating SuMetal 16th Birthday, and the whole concert was special, if you want to know the rest of the songs finishing this, those are: - "Akatsuki" Unfinished Version, a beautiful SuMetal solo version with only a piano behind, the original song is a power/speed metal balad - "Babymetal Death", be ready for this insane ending, The live concert and also this song got plenty of tributes to the greatest metal bands, like Metallica and X-Japan, specially Yoshiki, the gong at the end is one of those, you'll find more and plenty of this to add to their lore. The official MV is also creepy for some fans, I guess the organ gave that effect, you'll also see the neckbrace there for the first time which is a tribute to Yoshiki from X-Japan. The Kami Band here are glorious set of elite musicians who were send to help with the metal sound, they rotate so probably you won't see some of them in all live concerts (especially the guitarrists). They are: - Míkio Fujioka, god of guitar, a beloved member, sadly he passed away in 2018. R.I.P. - Leda Cygnus, god of guitar, he's the only Kami Band member who's credited as a session musician when recording some albums. - BOH, god of bass, he's the bald one and not only got amazing talent but her fun way to enjoy reminds me Flea from RHCP. You can see at the end (when SuMetal is crawling to upstairs) his head got written "Happy Birthday". - Hideki Aoyama,, god of drums, he comes from a family of expert drummers, and his father is very famous in Japan music scene. I would love if you can go with the rest of the songs of this special live concert but if you want another song that ranks high as a favorite you can watch "Megitsune" official MV, of course live performance is even better but the MV shows all the Japanese elements this song got and our girls looking so young here gives you a good dose of kawaiiness. UwU Keep binging with BM songs and enjoy the ride into the Foxhole. See you! 🦊🤘

WOW! Well done! You just discovered them today and I can easily see you falling down the Fox Hole, head first. So... welcome! They are Suzuka Nakamoto (the lead singer) as SU-METAL, Yui Mizuno (YUIMETAL) and Moa Kikuchi (MOAMETAL). Unfortunately, Yui had to leave due undisclosed health issues in 2018 (officially) after being absent since October 2017. Su and Moa continued as a duo until today. They are backed by the Kami Band, a group of session musicians, the best you can get. In this video they are: Mikio Fujioka (RIP) and Leda Cygnus (guitars), BOH (6-strings bass) and Hideki Aoyama (drums). This video was filmed the day after Su-metal's 16th birthday (the concert was named in her honor since she was born in 1997), while both Yui and Moa were still 14. And yes, it's crazy. And it's even crazier the fact that they were 12 and 11 when BABYMETAL was formed back in 2010. They are 24 and 23 now and have very particular history. Just a couple more of songs and you will be ready to watch CrypticMisery's guide hehe... 😁 See you soon!

Legend 1997 Apocalypse is the year of birth of the main singer, this concert was in 2013. Metal Queen Su-Metal was 16. She's now 24. The band is now 12 years old, built around her when she was 12. Biggest Japanese band outside Japan in history, by far. They invented Kawai-Metal and the 4th studio album is coming soon. They make the UK , US and other billboards for every album. Lots of evolutions from each albums, according to their age. They have more than a dozen Live albums, this band is built for Live concerts. Lots of homages about other bands too. You can easily find the lyrics for every songs just by googling the song.

Great reaction ! Babymetal live is lots of fun. 🙂 You mentioned Guns N Roses, Babymetal opened for Guns N Roses in Japan in Jan. 2017. (OK, this turned out to be a wall of text, kind of sorry, not sorry) Babymetal got started in 2010, what you see in this show was end of 2013, which means they already had some years of experience. So they were 11 and 12 when they started. But these girls already had years of experience in entertainment before that, Suzuka aka Su-metal started when she was 3, so she had already almost 10 years being in the spotlight ! Yuimetal at 6 and Moametal at 8. The producer of Babymetal (Koba for short aka Kobametal) works at a talent company (a company which supplies people for the entertainment business: need a model ? need an actress ? need a TV host ? etc. You talk to them. Or need to make some production and don't know who to hire to get it done ? They and their partners: from camera people to sound people, to photographers, to make up people, to set-designer, to editors, etc. they have relationships with people who can get the job done. The agency also has some artists from themselves, Koba used to work with bands in the company. He did all the things a band needs to do except playing: handle touring, marketing, being a manager, etc. whatever they need. But the demand for bands was very little in Japan. So he was asked to work at the kids division. He started to work there on a project he was asked to do and he kept his eyes open to see what else is going on. He noticed one girl who had a lot of talent, but also an unusual loud signing style. It got him thinking: I want to work with her, it's almost a waste of talent if she ends up doing some regular J-Pop, so it got him thinking: what if her loud voice fits loud music ( his favorite genre is metal ). But with the decline interest in bands, which means also a decline in interest in metal music. So the company would never agree to any project like that, it's a financial non-starter. The kids division then got a training group, a J-Pop group of 10 to 12 of their most talented/most promising girls, who would taught and give experience with acting, singing, dancing, public speaking, etc. During their age of 10 to 15, they could be part of this and every year new girls would enter, girls to old would leave. This is where our 4 people got together and Babymetal was created, a fusion of J-Pop and metal music. Because the main group was also school themed had sub-groups: newspaper club, baton club, cooking club. They are all mini-groups with their own songs, etc. Koba then said: let's do a heavy music club and this is what Babymetal is. He asked the girls to join and he made Suzuka the center, she was the big singing talent. Because it's part of the bigger project, they could re-use some stuff and their was no financial risk to the company. Unlike the other sub-groups who got some stuff, Babymetal borrowed clothes from others, etc. their was no budget, it was like a sort of on-the-side hobby project. And with some smart marketing (like posting Babymetal MV on KZfaq, KZfaq wasn't very popular in Japan music industry at the time) it took off ! 🙂Got attention from people, nobody had seen something like this before... it's sort of a gimmick. The trick is to have real substance and talent to warrant the attention. But the impact of Babymetal is real, the sales of metal music in Japan went up, not just counting Babymetal, but other bands as well. Babymetal fusion style works like a gateway band.

Welcome to the wonderful galaxy of music that is Babymetal. You already got a lot about Babymetal. Just some notes on this song then. Throughout the song it may have sounded like Yui and Moa are singing headbanga. But what they are really saying is Hedoban. Which is Japanese for what would be "number one fan". Overall, the song is about a 15-year-old going to their first metal concert. Could you imagine if this was your first concert. Ruined for life. Always trying have that great experience again. as such some of the lyrics are about realizing this will never happen again and trying to etch it into your heart so you can remember forever. Their stage presence is outstanding even from the start. You can see the crowd really gets into the show. Babymetal view the audience as part of the band. Which is why their fans are called The One. As in one with the band. This song also goes along with their first song as Babymetal. Which was Doki Doki Morning. A song about waking up late and rushing to get ready for school. IMO everybody can relate to that. This song is just one of many songs that Babymetal have used to explain why they woke up late. Now Headbanger is not a song about Babymetal but it could be a song about a fan going to see Babymetal. Rob Halford performed with Babymetal at an award show. He called them the future of metal. Told them to stay metal years ago. It would seem that they listened. He labeled them the Monster ladies of metal. Which made them giggle. Another thing about Babymetal is no matter how metal it gets. They're kawaii metal by default. Kawaii meaning cute in Japanese and it's a whole vibe there. Most of their songs like this one have a positive message and up lifting message to them. But remember this their songs are all different and yet somehow retain an overall Babymetal sound to them. I call it Babymetal magic. Because as diverse as their songs are. It's got to be the only way they make it work. Magic. Metal elf magic. Enjoy the journey through the foxhole and into the Babymetal galaxy of music.

Hey, saw your reaction to Divine Attack, their first new song in probably three years (and a monster banger!), and followed you here. Yes, they are so much fun, and kawaii for days, particularly in their earlier years. They're all growed up now, in their early 20s, but they were mid-teens here. In fact, Moa and Yui, the dance (and scream) duo may have still been part of Sakura Gakuine, a J-pop outfit modeled after Japanese school life (a fake school - they also went to a real school for real education). They started in their early teens and were short even by Japanese standards, so looked about 8 when they were 12 lol. So Sakura Gakuine would have various sub-groups, and the Heavy Music Club was one of them. It was the mastermind of Koba, who was a producer for Amuse, Inc., SG's parent company, who was himself a huge metal fan. He had the genius idea of mixing sweet J-pop voices and innocent lyrics (well, mostly innocent haha) with some truly brutal metal and hard rock. And it seems to have been a stroke of genius as it did indeed work as you hear it here. The band backing them is the Kami Band, or Band of the Gods I think. Their outfits are based upon traditional Japanese funeral garments, and they are an absolutely monstrously talented group. The third member was Yui, who left due to health issues in 2017 or 18 if I have that timing right. After a year without a third member they decided to go back to a three-person lineup, but with a rotating cast of temporary members, which served them until they went on hiatus because of the pandemic. The Divine Attack single is the first peep we've seen of them since their hiatus, and it remains to be seen how they fill that third slot, as most of the original "Avengers" have gone on to bigger and better things. Glad you're enjoying the Babymetal journey. Next you may want to get Gimme Chocolate out of the way as it's a sort of rite of passage for new fans. Many will start their journey with that song, and it is a bit silly, but a lot of fun if you let yourself be entertained.

Search for Babymetal "Megitsune" Budokan 2021 performance, there is one with english subtitles uploaded on youtube, it's a quintessential BM song with awesome lyrics and probably a fans favourite and this is imo the best performance of this song. "Headbanger" lyrics are about a girl experiencing her first metal concert on her 15th birthday and also reflecting on leaving her childhood behind on this occassion. BM is not a band, but a produced musical project, the girls are mostly performers with limited creative input, session musicians too and there is a creative team behind all this, but it's awesome. How the girls got into metal ? They were picked from children pop group by their producer who was a metalhead, they've never heard of metal music before they've started the project.

⚡ 💀 💕 / 🤘 They are something very special. There's nothing like the total experience of a live BABYMETAL show. 'Headbangeeeeerrrrr!!!!!' is a classic BABYMETAL song, and one of their early hits. Even though the song is about a fifteen year old girl attending her first heavy concert, Su was only fourteen when the studio version was recorded. It's not biographical, but it is a song she could relate to. At that age she was on stage, rather than taking the train to go see concerts. : ) I'm really glad it returned to the setlist in 2019. It was great to finally hear it live at the L.A. Forum show in California.

There's a video that will answer all of your questions. It was made by a user named CrypticMisery, and it's called "Everything You Need To Know About BABYMETAL - A BABYMETAL Guide." The video is currently forty-three minutes long and is kept updated. Plenty of other reactors have done a reaction video to the guide, whether all at once or in parts, but no one would blame you if you watched it in your own time. Boy are you in for a journey. There is no other band in the world like Babymetal. You're into the foxhole now. Babymetal's backstory is pretty complicated. They are a "manufactured group" in the sense that they were created by a producer working for a production company, but the story is more nuanced than it appears on the surface, and it was never expected that Babymetal would become the international success that they did. It's very well explained by the video "Everything You Need to Know About Babymetal" by Cryptic Misery - kzfaq.info/get/bejne/naqemJOp3NTNhJs.html

If you want good translations of the lyrics from their first two albums with important cultural context, I recommend googling 'Du-metal Babymetal lyrics' and checking out the blog that comes up.

Glad you enjoyed this. In my first comment from your first reaction I mentioned that Yui Mizuno (one of the two backup singers on each side of Suzuka) left in 2018 due to health reasons. I also mentioned BabyMetal’s LIVE performance of Karate at 2016 Download Festival in the UK as a great (and copyright safe) reaction.

It may be early but the best way to find out about who BabyMetal is and how they came to be is to react to Cryptic Misery’s excellent “Everything You Need to Know About BabyMetal: A BabyMetal Guide”.
