I started my BABYMETAL journey with Gimme Chocolate, I was like "wtf is this, it's not for me, but I gave them a chance and I listened to Yava next and then to this amazing show of Headbanger, and I gotta tell ya, I have binged watching all of their videos since that moment, every live show, every reaction and other great stuff from BABYMETAL. For me this show stands for everything that BABYMETAL can give to the world. Su's 16th birthday show was just amazing!!

The way these Kawaii teens command a crowd that big gives me chills everytime.

Fun fact: Su's stick microphone has a DNA helix pattern on it. You will see it repeated in the introduction to "Babymetal DEATH" from the same show...so look out for that. And yes, classic old school BM is awesome. You are right, this concert is Legend 1997 and was in late 2013. It's a celebration of the lead singer Su-metal as she was born in 1997 and the concert was the day after her 16th birthday. "Headbanger" is a bittersweet coming of age story about a 15 year old school girl going to a concert and braving the mosh pit, while knowing the freedom of the moment won't last long. It's used to celebrate BM birthdays and both Yui and Moa have taken the lead in it for their birthdays. The song probably resonated with Su because she started singing it when she was 15 and she had also recently graduated from school and the idol group "Sakura Gakuin", and started working full time with Babymetal. In Legend 1997 the energy of "Headbanger" is followed by the emotion of "Unfinished Akatsuki" and the insanity of "Babymetal DEATH" and together they tell a story about growing up and accepting sacrifice and change. You might like to watch the videos of those songs in order and you'll get an idea of how theatrical Babymetal can be.

One suggestion is to put a BABYMETAL logo watermark...this another way to avoid copyright strikes...You can put the mark when you are showing the video, but when you are watching it, you do not have to put it.

Good reaction, this is a great performance ... but you're so wrong about them "losing the magic". 2018 wasn't an easy year while they were holding Yui's place, but their shows and performances were still great and they are better now than ever. Obviously Mikio (RIP) and Yui can't be replaced, but Su's vocals just continue to improve as she stretches and challenges herself to and masters more and more different styles, Moa's dancing and interpretation of the songs is just amazing (you really need to see 'Shine' at Legend M for a prime example of both those things) and the Avengers all fitted in so well (it has been Momoko for the last 25 or more performances), the Kami Bands (whether East or West) never miss a beat and their shows are as much fun and bigger and better than ever. For a straight comparison look on the Babymetal Reactor Resource II channel for 'Headbanger' live at Legend M in 2019 and 'Headbanger' live at Legend Metal Galaxy in 2020. Then there are the 10 shows they did at the Budokan earlier this year which, despite the extraordinary precautions they had to take with the reduced capacity etc, were probably as good as or better than anything they've done.

I love this song because it's about a 15 year old girl going to her first metal show (which I can relate to!) -- I feel like this song captures all the different emotions, the anxiety, the excitement, the moment she just LETS GO and has a good time! So good.

One of the best! I realized that what I was telling you about was from Legend Metal S for Su's birthday and Legend Metal M for Moa. The choreography even changed where as she holds the microphone in the air, Moa and Yui or one of later trio that fills in are bowing at Su's feet while she gives the death glare. God this song is so good.

My favorite nerd kid story. I had a social studies teacher in junior high that was known for her stern demeanor (old school). She'd drive her index finger into her desk as she'd scold the students. She had done it so often, the tip of her finger pointed upward when she pointed at students. The jokers in the class would look upward when she'd scold them. (Yes, they were asking for trouble) The classic way for some joker at the back of the room to get in trouble, was spit wads up against the black board. "OK, Who did that!" She'd send the back two rows to the office and the interrogations would begin. I was third row from the back. One day well into the year, I decided to get a little action. I shot one spit wad. Hit her square in the back of the head. The entire class (Including me) turned around to look at the back two rows. She goes "Who did that." The back two rows instantly point at me. I kept looking at them. She yells "liars, he never does anything." The entire two back rows got Saturday detention for the rest of the school year and summer school. There where a couple scuffles over the next few weeks but not too many repercussions.

I cannot recommend watching their concerts enough... such amazing performances and epic creativity and storytelling. JUST AMAZING! Babymetal is something that should not work and is one of the best things out there in music since it came out... I LOVE IT!

Totally disagree, they rock on even more harder after Yui left, and true fans love that, you just need to watch live concerts such "Legend Metal Galaxy" Day 1 and 2 to confirm that fact, heck! just watch Headbanger! LMG Day 2 and you'll see something never seen before even when they were altogether. They got tough times we all know about it, but for me even Dark Night Carnival era was awesome with all those new costumes looking more badass and carry on with the group. Good reaction, Headbanger is a great song. Too bad that AMUSE have burned you and prevent you from really enjoying these videos. If you saw anything BABYMETAL has done after 2019, you would realize that "the magic" is far from over, and in reality BABYMETAL today is at least as good as they have ever been. IMO they are better than ever since they have gained tons of confidence, plus the natural growth and the hard work that characterizes them, making them really masters of their craft. Do we miss Yui? Sure. But the fans who can't get over Yui leaving to pursue her own dreams are like Nightwish fans who can't enjoy Floor because they just can't let Tarja go.

All the things that make a Babymetal show, the crowd, The Band, The production and Su, Yui and Moa = The One. On their side of things Moa has called it Team Babymetal. Yes it was magical when they hit the big time. But to think they're somehow less than that today is off the mark. If you want to see todays version of Babymetal's magic check out "Shine" from Legend M show. Oh Yeah, it's the mature version of Babymetal. But after what they went through how could it be anything else? It's a Performance with just Su and Moa and it's pure Magic. Yup I also think you should do Moabanger with her birthday just a few days away on the 4th of July. And the 10 years of Babymetal at the Budokan is their latest testament of greatness. Momoko is the last avenger standing and she put in a great performance with them.

Two things about this review unrelated to the music. Your Ragin Cajuns University of Louisiana shirt (USL to us oldsters) My nephew, his father and many of my friends went to school there. (I went to UNO). The other thing is the portrait of the Shih Tzu dressed as what looks like a French Marshal of German Field Marshal. I love it. I recently lost my Shih Tzu of many years and I am a military historian by trade. It is great. Where can I get one? Musically this song is my favorite Babymetal song.

Great reaction to a great video. You raised the Death video where they crucify Sue on stage and said you get nervous when the girls start flailing around. A fun video to watch (not to react to) for you would be Headbanger (a live version) from Legend 1, October 6, 2012. At the beginning of the song they release Sue from a coffin and all three out of a big cage. This show was also the first appearance live with the Kami Band (not the same lineup as here). You can see the progression of the girls from that performance to this one. However, Sue's attack on the song and dancing was more aggressive back then and her scream toward the end of the song was somehow harder, longer and almost blood curdling. It is a fun video to watch. Also as a side note, I am going to give your Jambalaya recipe a try. Thanks for the great reactions, I am working my way back through them, you have so much content.

After watching (almost) everything you can find of BM on the internet, I prefer their stuff after Yui left to be frank. The 2016 Tokyo Dome shows are still probably the best performances ever, but on average I like their performances as adults more than when they oozed "kawaiiness" as kids. It's still a pity they edit out every small mistake in after production because it loses a lot of the live feeling and they always stick to the exact plan that's been developed for them in their performances which makes it a bit "too perfect", but that's just what you have to deal with oftentimes when it comes to big productions (especially from Japan). Also, the crowd, while very engaged, is not that much out of the ordinary when it comes to Japanese music "shows". You won't find this type of audience with more straightforward metal bands like Lovebites or Aldious for instance, but that's just the difference between a show, where the focus is more on overall performance (BM, X Japan, BiSH, regular idol groups, etc) and a "normal" concert rock and metal bands for example do where the focus is more on the music.

You watch the original video, slap a logo on top of what we see, and react. Most babymetal fans have seen them all several times anyway, we dont really need to see it to know what is happening. Their music is..yea..and your POV is worth watching.

There are a few other versions of this I am sure you would enjoy there is one for Moa's Birthday where Moa takes over the mic at the mic stance point (Legend M) ... (ok 2 times and one time where Yui did the mic when they were 16 i think) There is a band (acapella group) I would love to see you react to and that is Voiceplay ... if you do them around Halloween they did a cover of the Oogie Boogie Song (from nightmare before Christmas) , if not there are a ton others you would enjoy I am sure, if you get around other times of the year well they did a Queen in 5 min video and they did the phantom of the opera and Eleanor Rigby them ... too many from them to comment on one or so.. and as far as i know they dont copyright strike and they have actually done some live interviews with some of the other reactors (not listing them since you said not to) that you mentioned in you strike video anyways I think you would enjoy them.. and I would enjoy watching you react to them. This concert and Budokan Black Night are probably have the least blocked video's, not sure why they are so picky when it is KZfaq that made them famous in the first place. Compared to most Japanese bands they put out very little music, the band SCANDAL (one of the first big Japanese all girl rock bands that gets blocked all over the place sadly) has been going for 15 years and has nearly as many full albums. BabyMetal seems to be pushing to make money from DVD sales of their big concerts but lack of new content will kill them eventually.
