This was the first time they performed in front of a large crowd outside of Japan. Most fans there had never heard of them. To start Yui's flag gets tangled up as they come on stage, Moa forgets to start dancing in one song and then Yui has a wardrobe malfunction as you can see here. Throughout the extreme nervousness they felt, Queen Su held it together with such poise and confidence. This was the last song of a 30-minute set. The crowd had completely warmed up to them. They brought it home.

Moa missed her cue for the first song (Babymetal Death) because her IEM was not working.

Great reaction and thanks for coming back to watch this particular performance, this was the moment they announced their arrival in the west and felt they were being accepted by the metal world. Probably 95-97% of that crowd (50-60,000 UK metalheads) didn't have a clue who or what BABYMETAL were 30 minutes earlier. Most were fans by the end of that 30 minutes and I'm sure you heard them calling for "One more song". As you know already, Sonisphere 2014 was their very first time in the UK and their first major event outside of Asia - they did two small shows in Paris and Cologne a few days before this where Yui and Moa celebrated their 15th birthdays. Su-metal was 16. They were originally booked to play a small side stage or tent at Sonisphere Festival in front of maybe a couple of thousand people, but their video for their song 'Gimme Chocolate' had gone viral and they were attracting attention - they also had a show booked in London for a couple of days later that had to be moved to a bigger venue as the tickets had sold out so fast - so the organisers moved them to the main stage with just a couple of months notice. Some small minded idiots who had seen 30 seconds of the 'Gimme Chocolate' video and (mistakenly) made up their minds BABYMETAL must be some sort of money making gimmick band weren't happy that they were playing at Sonisphere, they were even more upset to hear they would be on the main stage and they posted threats on social media of urine bottles being thrown and booing them off stage, but the vast majority of the people there didn't have a clue who they were. From back stage the girls couldn't see the crowd and were worried nobody had come to see them and what they should do if there was nobody there - they walked on stage to see a sea of puzzled faces - hairy, tattooed metalheads (the typical UK crowd) wondering why three little Japanese girls in red tutus were on stage at one of the biggest metal festivals. I believe Su has said that as they walked on and saw all the puzzled faces she thought to herself "This will be fun. Let's knock it out of the park." IDZ was the last song of their 25-30 minute set, the crowd had warmed to them by this time. They played just 5 songs and the crowd were wanting more and calling for "one more song" at the end. They gained a whole lot of new fans that day. They had the biggest mosh pits of the whole weekend and their merch outsold every other band playing there (including big names like Slayer, Anthrax, Iron Maiden and Metallica). They have spoken in interviews about how they consider this one of their biggest milestones and it being the moment they felt accepted by the metal community and really began to believe their music could break the language and other barriers. Su-metal has described how the sea of puzzled faces they saw as they walked on stage changed to smiles as their set went on and how it went from just the front few rows jumping and joining in and looked like a wave running back through the crowd from front to back as more and more people followed suit.

_Kitsune tobe!_ 🦊🤘🙅‍♂️ Happy birthday MomoMetal 🥳🤘🍑 Unfortunately this song wasn't part of the setlist yesterday celebrating MomoMetal 21 years old, like pretty much the rest of the setlist of the World Tour 2023, except for certain special concerts closing the leg tour, but we got some great surprises and comeback songs everyone loved to have some fun. Anyway this was the moment 60k UK crowd felt in love with BM, they called it "the miracle of Sonisphere", so sad the organizers won't do this festival anymore due to financial troubles. Keep enjoying more BM songs and see you next time 🦊🤘🔥

Awesome! This was an iconic moment for Babymetal. I have so much respect for them to push aside fears and nerves to perform in front of such a large crowd (~65K), in a foreign nation, at 16/14, and absolutely killing it. The fact that the crowd was chanting “We want more!!” at the end, and they sold out their merch goes to show how powerful these 3 tiny-humans can be lol. 🤘🦊

This was one of the most important performances of their career. It was their first chance to show what they could do live in front if an international audience and despite them being so young, they handled the pressure like pros and absolutely crushed it .

Greatness! The look on Su's face when you paused at 3:02 in your vid is one of my favorites parts of this performance. You can tell she was super proud/happy about what they just pulled off. I can't even imagine getting up on that staged as a 16 year old and freshly minted 15 year olds. Thank you for reacting to this. I really expected you would watch on your own but, I am glad you included the rest of us. #notacult Kitsune Up! 🤘🦊🤘

This is the end of 30 minute set, they were the opening band for the day. There were about 3000 Babymetal fan at the front, From there it some who had heard of them, then the ones who had no idea who they were. Watch Su's eyes, she knows they are a hit and conquered the crowd. They up-ended the British metal world, 3 tiny Japanese teenage girls not only sang, they danced to metal!! The post-concert interviews are a hoot. The interviewers really did not know how deal with them. So much fun.

Well, this is the last song of the set, so they got to hear them already for about 25 minutes. There are a few thousand BabyMetal fans in the crowd but yeah like 97% dont know them. I get a sadistic pleasure watching Yui fight with her dress.

The crowd had already bought in by the time they started IDZ. The crowd though is a festival crowd and was not doing in unison stuff like in their shows in Japan. That said this song caps what Su herself said was Babymetal’s most important performance. Nice catch on Yui-chain’s skirt unraveling.

Great reaction as always! This performance was a masterclass in winning over a hostile audience (UK crowds are notorious for throwing bottles of pss and booing offstage acts that they dissaprove). The crowds were unprepared for the power of the girls and the Kami band ♥🦊🤘
