⚡ 💀 💕 / 🦊 ⛩ Good catch. Yes, they were definitely miming in the background. The performers pretending to play the traditional Japanese instruments are dancers with the Movement Design group. Chidori Yakumo is their director. She is the woman performing the fan dance during the breakdown. Megitsune is my jam. It's still my favorite BABYMETAL song, video and choreography. BABYMETAL's producer Koba sent this song back to the song arranger Yuyoyuppe dozens of times before he was satisfied with it. This one consistently comes in at or near the top in fan polls, and has been performed live more than any other BABYMETAL song.

Great reaction, thanks! "Megitsune" was released in June 2013. Su-metal was 15 years old while Yuimetal and Moametal were both 13 (about to turn 14) back then. In my opinion, this music video is a masterpiece. And about its locations (now pilgrimage destinations for BABYMETAL fans): - The stage where they are performing is called Nohgakudo (Noh theater) at Asagaya Shinmeigu Shrine in Tokyo. This is a stage where music and dances are performed during festivals. - And yes, that's the famous Fushimi Inari-taisha in Kyoto. The girls were so happy that the director traveled to Kyoto just to film that sequence as they explained in a commentary video. They also did commentary videos for their "Doki doki Morning", "Iine", "Ijime, Dame, Zettai", and "Headbanger!" MVs. I am very happy to have visited both locations during my trip to Japan (among other incredible places) last February/March. 🤘🦊

_Sore!_ 🦊🤘🔥 Nice to see you're back with this suggestion, they were quite young in this one but not so young like already saw in Doki Doki Morning or Iine! This is another BM fans favorite song and is already a classic one they don't wanna leave behind in any of their setlist when performing live such recently at Europe Tour as well at FOX_ FEST Festival last weekend of May when they even opened up the festival with a exclusive remix version and dance called "Akago Kinzoku" dancing with a hand-fan. This was released in 2013 when having around 13/14 (Yui and MoaMetal, MomoMetal not here yet) and 15 yo (SuMetal, the lead singer), so is one of their early hits and is full of japanese elements, like the "shamizen", a japanese traditional instrument, and is a party festival song (matsuri). "Sore" "seiya" and "soya" are typical shouts among Japanese festival and it works like a "c'mon!" or "let's go" for them. During the breakdown you can hear another typical japanese folk song called "Sakura Sakura" and they're doing a traditional Japanese dance. The pig squeals are just a backing track and is credited to no one as well many more growlings and harsh vocals you can hear during early era. In summary, song is about female empowerment and if you follow the lyrics you'll see about it, "Megitsune" means female fox (vixen) and they talk about women acting with a smile in their face while crying inside, just to fit in society or what is expected from them, when they're kind to you they're not trying to make falling in love with them, they're just being their own way, and men tend to confuse and think they're cheating or deceiving like the mythological fox. "Megitsune" used to be a peyorative term in Japanese culture, pretty much just like around the world, but BM is using this as a way to empower women despite the meaning itself. When SuMetal is pulling out the "tanto" mic she's saying "maidens shouldn't be underestimated", that refers to a japanese mob film about some boss mafia daughter before attacking someone. During live performance she does something different and looks really cool doing it. Megitsune is a quintessential BM song and among top ranking songs by fans, SuMetal said she didn't mastered yet, that's why she used to sound check with this song before live concerts. The origin of the "fox sign" is kinda long to explain but here's a short summary: The Fox God (Kitsune Sama) is the Metal God who sent these girls (and Kami Band after to help them with the metal sound) to unify the world and set them free from Jpop slavery. The kitsune sign came out by accident around the time they created the group by the girls when trying to imitate the typical metal horn sign they noticed it was similar when doing fox shadow shape, they implemented this as part of the lore, imagery, theme and live concerts, the lore is huge so take your time and keep digging and riding the Foxhole 🦊🤘 Btw they praised for real and made a ritual to the Fox God for this song to be a hit and successful, and thanks to the Fox God this is one of their major hits and favorite BM fan songs. -NotACult- 👀 This is a song with the arrangements by YuppeMetal, he took inspiration from "Memphis May Fire - The Sinner" for the drum section, another song that i recommend you for your own time if you want. Next suggestion: - Kimi To Anime Ga Mitai (Answering For Animation With You) live at Budokan 2014. One last thing, they recently did a kawaii overload interview in Germany and they said they used part of this "Kon kon kon kon" (fox bark) shout before every BM live show when doing together the fox sign and saying "Babymetaru kon!" lol As always kitsune up and see you next time. 🦊🤘🔥

An awesome performance and one their best MVs. There are many layers to this MV. I like it because it gives more insight into their message. I also learn so much from the comments from the fan base: for instance, one pointed out how at the beginning YUI and MOA pull on SU’s Japanese costume and the next scene she is transformed into SU-METAL. Great rection. 🦊 🖖❤

Great reaction. 🦊🤘Most of the video was shot on location at the Asagaya Shinmei Shrine in Tokyo. This has become a place of pilgrimage for BABYMETAL fans visiting Tokyo. The guys at the back waving the traditional instruments about were dancers with the lady who did the fan dance's troupe. When Su pulled the tanto (short blade) out of her mic ... yes that was so cool.😎

Alexa, I've consulted the oracle and the Fox God...They said you're doing the right thing 👍👍😆😎 This is Babymetal's 5th release, but their very first single after becoming independent from parent group Sakura Gakuin! Still a top fan favorite, and their song played the most live. 🤘🦊

Nice reaction as always. It's easy to forget how young they were but this video shows the difference makeup makes to how they look. In the non-dancing parts with minimal makeup they really show their ages compared to the parts where they dance. For another where Su has different hair, I counted 4 styles, go for Headbanger official MV. Live is wonderful for this but the MV is also worth checking. kzfaq.info/get/bejne/aK-qhcJ00bqpaI0.html Just spotted your Ratatata live reaction dropped so scurrying over to that, ok clicking on the link.
