I figured Tom came up with the main riff.. but i have no idea. It's such a fun sound! I did think the harmonizer solo was pretty cool. A really weird almost uncomfortable sound.

He said in an interview they sent him a demo of the song and asked if he wanted to collaborate on it.

@@HymnodicYeah, from what I understand, he loves Babymetal and wanted to collab with them for some time. I think they've given him demos in the past (I could be wrong), but with this song he was like, yeah, I can play with this and so put in his 2 cents worth of music into it as well. So as RyanMear kinda stated, I think the song was already pretty much done, but they were able to add him in because they love collabing with different bands when they can.

I felt the same. To me, the music to this could have been a Rage Against the Machine song. I don't know how much input Tom Morello had in creating the song though.

Yes indeed, pretty much like Brand New Day sounds like a Polyphia song, they caught the right mood and groove and then landed the collaboration card🃏. 🤘🏻🦊⚡

Metali = Metal x Matsuri. This is to erupt their live concert by recreating a Matsuri in the venue with typical traditional festival chants, such as 'Ha!', 'Wasshoi!', 'Dokkoi!', 'Dokkoi-sho!', and 'Sore!' Sue is calling you to sing and dance. Momoko is saying, 'Don’t be a fool watching other people having fun. If we are all fools, when are you going to dance if you don't do it now?' Glad you liked this one man! I was the one that stood out the most to me when I saw them live last week, absolutely killer vibe live. Great crowd interaction throughout, and Momo is hype! The morello part is a bit of a weird one as well. Live, they just play the same video on the screen that they did here, kinda weird but whatever!

Tom's guitar solo part at the end of the song gave me the feeling that the festival activity went wrong by accident. I saw some clips of Japanese festival failed, the moble Japanese Kami Saden falled on ground or hit on something while "Wasshoing" and blasting over a street. If I remember correctly, one regional festival was maint to brutally driving the Saden to hit something. And, carpenters have to fix and repair the saden every year. I would take that as a hidden humour of the song writer.

I will be at one their shows in October. This year would have been perfect if I could have seen BAND-MAID or Gacharic Spin as well as BABYMETAL. Alas, it was not to be this year.

Tom's playing the main riff too, playing off the shamisen and doing backing vocals with Moa and Momo. Not sure how more involved he could be

It is possible to just share information. They had the writing credits along with the lyrics in the description and Morello wasn't mentioned. I guess they could have stated exactly what he did or shown him singing and playing the riff??

@@RyanMear I am confused about Tom's credit on the song. On the audio only official Babymetal released yesterday, he does have writing credit. But on the music vid released today, he is not credited. So I don't know. The music sounds like it could have been a Rage Against the Machine song to me.

@@RyanMear When I listened to Dicodec and they were cutting out instruments, that was really Morello's guitar tone playing the main riff. They showed him singing backup, and I think in fact is was the three ladies and Tom singing backup the whole song. But we did see a shot of him singing. One of my personal favorite moments was when Su sang that final high note of hers Tom took that note and did a descending arpeggio. Also at the start when the Shamisen is playing, there is guitar doing a counter melody to it that sounds like Tom, but I have no evidence. I think Koba let Tom do Tom things and didn't mess with it much.

As I learned watching a video from your friends from Dicodec, there are some more of Tom's guitar parts during the verses and chorus that are not that noticeable, but add to the groove. But I agree, I also expected more from him than this. And I'm saying that as someone who is not even a big Morello fan. And even the part that we did get, the "solo", was very basic.

Yes! The main theme to this song is, sung (Su) as well as spoken (Momo), "There are two types of idiots. One that dances and one that watches. Be the dancing idiot." and... "wakka ni nare!" = meaning, form a circle

@@RyanMear 😁 Good to hear you're doing well. I saw Nightwish's last 2 shows of the Human:ll:Nature tour last June. In Finland, during a trip with a whole group of fans. They won't be touring for a while, not even with the upcoming album, which they are recording right now.

Thanks again from Japan 有難う 💛。 The title is a synthesized word from two words : "Metal" and "Matsuri 祭 (festival)" → Metali. I witnessed the world premiere (live debut) on Aug.16. At the venue, this song followed after the Kami's instrumental. Oh My Buddha! 😍 I got hyped like an idiot in the simplicity of this song and Momoko's solo speaking part with Kabuki style in the middle gives an amazing accent in the repetitiveness. The repetitive わっしょい "Wasshoi" is a call or yell used in Japanese Matsuri (festival). It is a kind of phrase to intensify people's excitement and especially to encourage the power of guys who are carrying a heavy Mikoshi that is similar to a float in the festival.

Nice reaction, but i gotta ask, the guitar riff from the get go sounded a LOT like Rage. You dont think Tom was responsible for the different sound? I definitely didn't get the impression from the song he was only playing the short solo.

Great reaction to another great BABYMETAL song! I would agree with you about Morello if his contribution was in fact that last bit. Has there been any confirmation if he was just the solo at the end or was he shredding throughout the entire song?

Finally a proper MV and not just a visualizer. This is the Babymetal i remember here. What a great comeback after a not so great Lil Uzi Vert collaboration. Which i was too keen on. Yeah, I sort of felt the same way. But once you listen to the song without the music video, I think it actually works just fine. It's more his weird inclusion in the video that calls attention to the solo and makes the whole thing feel out of place.

I think you may be right in that his contribution is him soloing with his guitar at the end, but I can clearly hear that BABYMETAL, when they sent him the demo, knew who they were sending this to because it's so RATM it's crazy. Even the ending has RATM vibes.

Well, the last big feature Tom Morello did was on a Maneskin song early in the year, and I think he came off better on this song by comparison. Babymetal does tend to dominate in their collaborations, though.

Kobametal: What new clickbait thing can I do before we go on a US tour? I know, I'll put a gimmicky solo from Tom Morello into the song! Everyone listening: ...... huh, well that was anticlimatic. Overall its a great song and will be amazing live. Can't wait to see them in September. That being said, I agree the little bit that Tom did seemed more like clickbait than anything else. What I think would have put the video over the top would be revealing Tom as the shamisen player at the end (even if he didn't play it in the song).

I've never understood all this hype around Baby Metal. All I got from listening/watching them is that The Kami Band is a very good band. I have nothing against dancing girls since I've been a Kpop stan for 12 years now. Even my son who used to be a fan of this "band" is now embarrassed whenever I remind him of it. Sorry, but it's just my honest opinion.
