It's a very old argument. Back in the 80's they would say a band isn't metal just because they used a synthesizer of some sort. Metal doesn't have a strict definition.

That's actually a fair reason not to like them. Kawaii metal isn't for everyone but it is still metal.

Go listen to their proper, more serious songs. There's only one SINGER in the band. It's clear people haven't gone beyond Gimme Chocolate and the like, when they say "their voices are fucked" or whatever. The only person doing full on vocals is the singer, Su-Metal (Suzuka Nakamoto). A song like Rondo of Nightmare, Akatsuki, Amore and Road of Resistance, will show that there's nothing "weird" about the vocals. They're just powerful, awesome vocals, that don't need to be growls or pig squeals. The melodies are very clever. Su even belted out Painkiller by Judas Priest, both with Rob Halford himself, and on tour with Chili Peppers, Chad Smith hopped on drums and they played it in England. She sang all of that version by herself. She's awesome. Then of course the musicians are undeniably badass at every show. It shreds!
