Suzuka thanked the audience for attending the concert because BABYMETAL turned 10 during the lockdown (from 2010 to 2020). That's why they celebrated in 2021 with limited audience concerts. Due to the limitation, instead of doing one big concert, they did 10 concerts there to celebrate the 10 years.

Great reaction, thanks! I actually like the Budokan 2021 shows, a lot. It was a ten concerts series performed between January and April 2021, with strict anti-covid policies placed to ensure attendees' safety. Venue's capacity was limited to the half. Every person in the public had to wear two face masks: one provided by the organization and their own. Shouting and talking aloud was forbidden so, they added "crowd noise" customized for each song, in real time, directly at the venue (there was no other choice, no one wants to perform in a silent venue). That may sound weird but it's an incredible amount of work and shows their attention to the detail. Yes, this is the Kami Band from the east. But regular... they performed 94 shows last year and only two of them with this same lineup. This makes me consider that the Western Kami is now their "regular" band. 😊 🤘🦊

I will apologise in advance, I may be repeating stuff you were already told ... unfortunately for anybody reading this that won't stop me this time.😁 The Nippon Budokan, Tokyo is a martial arts arena built for the 1964 Olympics - now also THE most prestigious venue for concerts in Japan. It is where Japanese (and many foreign) artists aspire to play and only a tiny minority ever get there. BABYMETAL first played there in March 2014 making them the youngest ever female band to headline at the Budokan - Su was 16, Yui and Moa were both 14. They sold it out 2 nights running. This video was taken from the 10 Budokan concerts they played in 2021 between January and April as a big part of their 10th anniversary celebration. This was during the pandemic of course, which is why Su said what she did about being lucky to be able to play any live concerts at all and thanking the people for coming to see them ... she meant it from the heart. In order for these shows to go ahead there were some very strict rules for everybody to abide by: * They had to halve the capacity so everybody was socially distanced with an empty seat between them. * No moshing or circle pits (normally for 'Road of Resistance you will see walls of death at the start). * Everybody in the audience had to wear two masks, their own covid mask plus a commemorative mask handed to them on their way in. * The crowd were not allowed to shout or sing along. The crowd noise you heard was actually piped in for these shows - it had been recorded at previous concerts, so it was at least matched to each song correctly. They could jump up and down in their place, they could stamp their feet, clap and wave - that was all. 'Road of Resistance' is like their anthem. It is about following your own path, going where nobody has gone before you, forcing your way past any obstacles and believing in your destiny. It could easily be their own story - they could have gone down the JPop path they had been expected to follow and they could have been hugely successful doing that, but they went down the metal route, fusing metal with their own JPop style aesthetics - nobody had done that before them. But even then they didn't just copy the same old format of virtually every metal band, they did things their own way and brought their own unique approach. Herman Li and Sam Totman from DragonForce did the guitar arrangements for 'Road of Resistance' (it is the only song they were involved in) and they played the guitars for the album recording too. This was the live performance so the instrumentals were all played by the Kami Band (East as you thought) of course.

Budokan 2021 marks their 10 years anniversary celebration and seal the Metal Resistance chapter along with another seal for the group, fortunately that seal is already broken since last year they were releasing new singles and kick start of the new metalverse era with a new BM side we've never seen before. Ending January 2023, they held two live concerts at Makuhari Messe marking their return after almost two years without live performance since these Budokan live concerts anniversary series. They fought against many enemies on this road and many more battles, but they manage to get through all of it, and this song is one of those strong weapons they had, to fight and conquer every metal heart that don't believe in them, Karate is another highly recommend to check it out. Budokan is just a name for general martial arts arena, there are other Budokan throughout Japan but this one in Tokyo is the most important and is big, this is the place any artist wants to reach when you're over the top, and they did it already in 2014 when they were even younger and having many struggles so they needed a revenge to pull away those ghosts from the past. Sadly this 2021 live concerts is half capacity due to restrictions all over the world and safety measures (guess you already know why), the crowd wasn't allowed to mosh'sh, crowd surfing or shout without face mask, instead they can stomp their feet, clap their hands or doing a human wave, at least they can do something to participate in this epic and memorable event, so the crowd sound you're listening here is a prerecorded track, but I'm pretty sure if they would've been allowed to shout, it would have been even louder. Momoko Okazaki was the _avenger_ or third backup dancer filling the third spot in all these 10 live concerts as well in all the 2023 shows, she's MomoMetal now, an official member. More suggestion to keep learning about BM early era: - Catch Me If You Can with Kami Band intro live at Budokan 2014. - Akatsuki live at Budokan 2014, "BM Fans Ecuador" got this. The Kami Band in charge all these 10 nights at Budokan were the Eastern or Japanese band, now they have another crew when going on tour abroad we called them Western Kami Band, they've been using masks since 2019, prior to this Kami Band, they used to wear white face painted and burial robes as well to represent spiritual entities. None of them are official members and they only play live, so when you hear studio album sound the Kami Band isn't there, except for Leda Cygnus (guitarist and bassist) on certain songs. Fans love Kami Band and that's why they researched info on who they are behind their hidden persona. This time, they are: ISAO and Takayoshi Ohmura on guitars, BOH on bass and Hideki Aoyama on drums, all of them were pretty regular at live concerts since 2013 but until 2018 everyone remember Mikio Fujioka, a beloved guitarist who sadly passed away (R.I.P.) Hell yeah, man! Great reaction to a great performance. Although the official live in Japan 2015 performance was significantly more epic! A few points to note regarding this particular show: 1). 10 Babymetal Budokan shows were 10 concerts held in 5 pairs of 2 shows (each pair with the exact same setlist) to commemorate 10 years of Babymetal in early 2021. 2). This was done because COVID-19 restrictions were literally just lifted (slightly) in Japan, so Budokan can only do half capacity (~5000 vs 10K). The show was originally planned for late 2020, but delayed for obvious reasons. 3). The crowd was asked to be silent due to pandemic restrictions, but yeah, not gonna happen lol. However, due to the restrictions, no moshing, no pits, etc. 4). This was the first time fans got to see Babymetal live since early 2020. Also, the last time fans got to see Babymetal live until 2023. They went on hiatus right after this series of shows, returned in late 2022 with a new single, and later a new album, and started shows again in Jan 2023. 5). This was Kami Band East, but Kami Band West also plays in Japan. In fact, Kami West is now the de facto backing band for Babymetal, and toured and played with Babymetal 100% of their shows this year (even all the major arena shows in Japan). Many of the Kami East members have new families now, and their own major projects (most likely taken on when Babymetal was on hiatus). In addition, Babymetal has stepped up touring volume immensely this year (~100 shows in 2023), so it is unlikely Kami East would return in the immediate future (my hypothesis only here), as sad as that is. Nice reaction. Long ago Babymetal played this venue before this. Things didn't go great personally for them. While the shows were fantastic. For the artist they know every mistake that was made and where things went wrong. For those early shows Yui fell off the stage. The next day they had guardrails put up. Moa rolled an ankle and There's more things along those lines. When they did the 10 years of Babymetal shows at the Budokan. They really wanted to make them perfect. But you know what they say, what can go wrong will go wrong. And this time as a foreshadowing of things to come. Like Momoko officially joining Babymetal. She almost fell off the stage. Su helped her and I think the guitarist but because of the lighting it's hard to tell. And for this song although I don't think it's this performance night. There's a running joke Su killed the stagehand when she drops the flag down to him. Don't know if he was supposed to catch it or not. But it does look funny when You see it. But overall, these 10 shows went way better for them than the first time they were there. Some even speculate that Yui leaving for health issues may have been due to injuries suffered from the fall off the stage. Yui maybe small too but she is tough. She did rejoin Su and Moa after a bit and finished the show. She also performed the second show the next day. Metal indeed. I know you're wondering about Su. She did have her IEM go out at the start of a song. But being the pro she is, we can't tell. Although there is a great shot from the 10 years of Babymetal shows where the pyro goes off a bit too big near Moa and her expression is priceless. And then she goes right back to waving to the audience. fire and no food aren't going to hold Moa's interest very long. Somehow, it's the little things that happen on stage with them that stands out sometimes because the rest of the show is amazing. Folks just look for something to be wrong. And sometimes folks just look for the kawaii moments during their shows. Like Moa and the drummer having a funny face competitions during songs. Or whatever Moa might be saying or doing during the break part of Megitsune to Su and Momoko. Trust us when we say this, whatever it is that Moa does at that moment is never the same and folks have tried to do some lip reading or body language reading to figure it out. Road of Resistance is a great song about taking the hard road. We know it's not easy and doing it anyway. During this song they take us along for the journey. Which is one of the reasons everyone gets so hyped up for this song. If you listen to the song Divine Attack the lyrics are in some ways the other way around. It's them supporting us on our journey. Imploring us to take the road of resistance. Because as Moa has said when asked if giving up her childhood was worth it. She wouldn't change a thing. Since we know the hardships they went through and may still be going through that is a big statement. Moa was asked that around the time of the 10 years show. Moa at that point had been in Babymetal for half her life at that point. And today Moa has been in Babymetal for more than half her life. and She is only 24. The foxhole is deep and full of surprises

btw they control not only japan crowd. Same things happens in USA and UK. Almost every show really. It's not about the country. It's about the energy of the music and skills. As far as I know, these girls are former idols, and they were trained in such things. they perform dozens of concerts every year for 13 years. They are more experienced than many western performers.

Road of Resistance is usually the finale of the live performances so they can send the crowd home on a high. The guitar parts of this song were actually written by Herman Li and Sam Totman of Dragonforce, which is why it has a very speed/power metal feel to it. This was the Japanese Kami band. Takayoshi Ohmura (guitars), Isoa Fujita (guitars), BOH (bass), and Hideki Aoyama (drums).

If you have time you may want to check out the Live in Japan version fo Road of Resistance. IMO it's the best verion they did and it has the holy trinity of Su, Moa and Yui, but please do not take this as a Momo bash., she's wonderful too

To help you out here. When you see band members with painted faces, those are the Japanese Kami. Members wearing masks are the American Kami. Members wearing skeleton costumes aren’t real musicians & a backing track is used. Early in Babymetal’s performances, they didn’t have the budget to have a live backing band so backing track was used. Another visual indicator between Japanese and American Kami members, the Western Kami are a bit physically bigger (trying to be nice in description 😂).

The Live in Japan version is the best. You see Su spreads her arms calling for a wall of death and like a little Japanese Moses she gets 20,000 people to split on her command
