A wonderful performance of this magisterial architectural work. Busoni's transcription gives pianists rather a lot to do!

Wow. This is so beautifully and artistically performed. What a supple technique, and so well layered and textured. His use of dynamics really makes this piece flow and his intelligent articulation and phrasing really highlights the theme so cleanly. One of the best renditions of this piece I have heard on the piano. He also gets tremendous volume, and for the piano, he fills up a lot of space with sound. PointyTailofSatan is correct in that it is a 'big-stop' organ composition, but Maestro Cossi is very talented and has the chops to make this piece very credible on the piano. Yes, it sounds majestic on a 120+ rank, 5-manual pipe organ. It was composed for something with that type of power. But Bach can be interpreted on the piano under skilled hands such as Mr. Cossi. Bach is not relegated to just one instrument. His music is not only timeless, but limitless in how it can be interpreted. I loved this performance.

Thank you for the video. Can someone explain why the piano transcription of BWV552 has been given the additional name "St. Anne"? I have not found any information on this so far. Thanks for a short explanation.

Check out the hymn tune St Anne (O God our Help in Ages Past) for the similarity in melody

난 Cossi가 바흐의 552번의 작품을 훌륭하게 해석하는 연주자라고 생각한다. 적어도 바흐의 작품을 해석하는 면에서 나와 맞다고 생각한다.

The only problem is the lack of vocal depth. This is a "big stop" organ piece, that normally uses a lot of stops, including mutation and mixture stops. Harmonically, the piece is actually pretty simple, probably as Bach assumed the organ would be used to fill it out.

oh, really ? Shame for Busoni, who didn't sense it, isn't it ? By the way, what about this insightful and passionate performance ? Two lions here, Bussoni and Cossi, plus the miracle of youth confronting both this cathedral of sound and its own desire to give its blood and flesh to it ... Not a matter for musicologists, simply for those who feel and don't need either to judge or expose their own wisdom ...

@@tangistanguy This isn't for purists, but so what? Cossi gives it everything he has, and the result demonstrates why Bach's music is so highly regarded: it can be performed on a variety of instruments, it can be orchestrated, and it can be sung. I completely agree with you, Tang, and many thanks to Cossi for allowing this to be posted.

To be fair, Busoni adds a lot of suggestions to give the piano more texture variety like the organ has. It’s recommended to use all pedals for example (including the left one). He also doubles a lot of passages

@@user-fu7zf4ck9z Well said, Zane. This is a brilliant interpretation of this magnificent piece. Maestro Cossi absolutely slays this on the piano, The absolute best performance on the piano of this piece. It is stunning and brilliant. His technique is so colorful, and supple. I love his trills and mordants, and his articulation and phrasing is masterful. No blurring of the lines, yet they are blended beautifully and artfully. He even manages to weave in the organ's bass pedal line, which is no easy 'feet' to accomplish. He gives this piece, on the piano, the gravitas that this piece requires. I am an organist, and this is in my repertoire, but I know that I could never do this on the piano with any credibility.
