Le Concerto pour 2 violons en ré mineur (BWV 1043), aussi connu sous le nom de Double concerto pour violon, est une œuvre de Johann Sebastian Bach et un des meilleurs exemples des œuvres de la fin de la période baroque. Il l'a composé entre 1717 et 1723 alors qu'il est maître de chapelle à Köthen (Anhalt). En 1739, à Leipzig, le compositeur en fait un arrangement pour deux clavecins transposé en ut mineur (BWV 1062). En plus des deux solistes, le concerto est écrit pour cordes et basse continue. Le concerto est caractérisé par la subtile mais pourtant expressive relation entre les deux violons tout au long de l'œuvre, principalement dans le Largo ma non tanto, où l'orchestre à corde se limite à jouer des accords. Ce concerto imite la structure de la fugue et utilise le contrepoint. Le concerto est composé des trois mouvements habituels pour un concerto : Vivace ; Largo ma non tanto ; Allegro. Adaptations En 1940 le chorégraphe russe George Balanchine en fait un ballet intitulé Concerto Barocco. Le premier mouvement peut être entendu dans le film Hannah et ses sœurs de Woody Allen, et dans La Musique de mon cœur de Wes Craven (pour lequel Meryl Streep s'initia aux rudiments du violon), le deuxième dans Les Enfants du silence. Le premier mouvement a également été repris en jazz par Django Reinhardt en 1937 et par Jean-Christian Michel dans son CD "J.S.Bach transcriptions" en 2006. Great to hear this in a baroque ensemble, though I like the first movement a little bit faster, at the speed Hilary Hahn plays it, I wish she did baroque violin she's so awesome.
